The Independant reported in an article headlined "Gun crime increases to record levels", that gun-related crime in Britain had increased to record highs. The British daily wrote: How can gun crime possibly be on the increase seeing as how the British government completely banned civilian-ownership of handguns--except .22-caliber target pistols--in 1997? Can it possibly be that criminals and not sports-shooters are the culprits? Can it possible be that in addition to breaking laws related to property and person that criminals would even go so far as to break the law regarding gun ownership?

Having just sat through four prolonged temblors at work, I can definitely say that earthquakes have replaced typhoons as No. 1 on my Hate List. I didn't like the four we had in Tokyo today any better that the three that woke me up in the early a.m. last week. Many more of them and I'm going to put myself up for adoption on the Internet by a family that lives in a country that has nice quiet well-behaved geography that knows its place and stays in it.

Just had one of the twice-yearly health checks at work today. Everything was going fine until I got to the hearing test station, where I sat down, put on the headphones, heard a beep and immediately jumped up and dashed over to the eye-testing station and attempted to engage the eye chart.
