  1. An easy less expensive reactive rifle target we use is a steel plate suspended from an A frame by a piece of rubber belting. The A frame can be made of rebar or other cheap material the belting can be found at equipment dealers (belts from round balers). When hit the plate really moves but settles quickly. RM3G amd CMG used these last year for a major match. They also brake down for reasonable storage.
  2. Bronco

    Bolt Gun

Tikka and CZ both have detachable mag feed rifles suitable for mor.
  3. Listen to Benny, the KISS principle works. The nice thing about an AR in this configuration is it can be used for varmints, or target shooting as they give exceptional accuracy and are lite to carry hunting.
  4. So Mike did you come in 2nd. which would make you the British champ. If this is the case congrats! Keith
  5. Centrally located this year so hope to see a good cross section of the whole U. S. 3 gun crowd. This will be my first USPSA 3 gun nationals and its only 2 hr. away.
  6. I know Dave will put on a great match, wish I lived closer so I could attend. Missed you at CMMG told the other Bama boys to say hi.
  7. US Shooting Academy This will get you to the USSA web page and Phil or Kelly.
  8. Since you didn't specify for 3 gun only there are actually 2. #1 A 308 that Benny builds for Heavy metal, he used one at Ark. 3 gun last year. Sweet! #2 A 6mm. AR that uses a necked down 6.5 Grendel.
  9. Unless you have a differential set up that GPS depending on signal can be off from 35 to 150 ft. Try going back to the same spot twice it wanders quite a bit. The range finder I use is well under that. For three gun all you need is a good 500 yd. model, but as with most shooting equipment buy the best you can afford because you'll find other uses for it.
  10. Trapr who the he11 is asking you to shoot Tac ops, that is for us old guys that can't see. Stay where you are you'll be much happier. See you in a week. Bucking horse
  11. I posted this same thought last year after having it happen in a match. Mine was from a Fed. case that got into my LC brass. I was very surprised at all the people this has happened to, one guy said he had it happen 3 or 4 times. My question is how many blown primers is he dealing with. I can count the number of blown primers I've had on 1 hand and not use all my fingers. Guess if you run your brass past it's useful life and have expanded primer pockets it could happen with less than max loads.
  12. CMMG also has some 18" barrels and can make you what you want. Sabre's are a nice one also.
  13. Go to the NRA web site and do a search for the state you live in/shoot in. See if there is a state rifle association and contact them for good basic marksmanship training. One of the trainers for Kansas is a friend of mine and has helped me a great deal.
  14. It' all that Wolf crap you have run through the poor rifle. If it were barrel heat your poi change would be in all directions not just vertical, look for barrel deflection, sight misalignment (I know, this never happens) crap ammo. Keith
  15. Spaceghost, it is fair to compare the two as you are looking for the optic that will best suit your needs of engageing targets from contact to 400 yds. Thanks to my friends I was an early adopter of the Meopta and it has served me well, also have the Eotech mounted on a short AR that goes with me in the tractor and combine for varmints. IMHO the Meopta will do anything the eotech will close in and a lot better when past 100 yd. Have never used the 3X magnifier but people I trust tell me it gives a tube effect and limites FOV. You also have the advantage of running the scope at any power between 1 and 4, which happens more than one might think. Have run mine on 2X several times for midrange targets that were spread out. If anyone gets the chance to talk with the Meopta people again impress upon them the purchasing power of the competition shooting community, and have them pony up some prize table scopes. Keith
  16. You never know if a wound is completely healed unless you pick at it.
  17. Made up 15 clay holders for a little practice session using sickle sections from a combine header. Have these in the scrap pile by the hundreds. Had to just touch the corners with a grinder and they nest inside a clay perfect. Welded to a metal stake they took all we had for the day and will be used many more times. Had a couple that were only 2 yds. that would turn when hit but that can be fixed by putting a spade at the bottom to prevent this. These sections would also be used for cutting hay, cemeteries, some golf courses use this type of mower for the ruff. Lots of places to come up with these for no or little cost.
  18. Man Trapr I thought you let that go months ago. Redemption is only a month away. Ford SUV
  19. 320PF, F I live in the US none of that commie metric crap for me.
  20. Have shot a 30 round mag as fast as I could pull the trigger then took a reading with a infa red thermometer at the end of the handguard of a 20" barrel, temp was 290*.
  21. Once watched the HK bunch from MO. shoot a full auto .223 until you couldn't hang on to it, then stick it in an ice chest to cool it down. Ater it cooled went back to hammering full auto again. Didn't seem to hurt it, glad it wasn't my rifle!
  22. Chills, any ballistic reticle can be used for any bullet, rifle caliber combination if the moa of the reticle is known. The Acog for 308 actually works pretty well with a 77gr. .223 at 2750 fps. The TDS bullet drop reticle will work with any combination you like, the horizontal lines are spaced so that there is 2 moa between the main cross hair and the second then 2.8 moa then 2.7 and 3moa for the last one which gives you 10.5 total moa for the reticle at the correct power setting if a 2nd. focal plane scope. Apply this to a ballistic program for your load and you have the ranges that the different cross hairs are dead on for. Pentax makes a ballistic plex scope that is quit reasonable, Gameseeker I think.
  23. Steel is a function of distance and choke choice. With cylinder bore I've seen steel at 15 yd. not go down, mod. choke will take steel set for minor at 30 + yd. Depends on how pissed off you want the open choke crowd to be.
  24. I would be there but already committed to shoot the 1000 yd. F-class match at Red Castle. Nice problem to have, to many events to attend, but frustrating. With the largest gun show in the world in Tulsa this weekend another reason to go. I'll be there next time! Keith
  25. All above info is accurate, I zero mine like Benny and use the same holds, have the same mount as Hung (Armalite). When you first look through it you'll think we are all nuts but it does work as advertised. Very fast scope, screams on the close stuff. I also shot 6 yotes with mine. Keith
