  1. I quite like my Mk7. Switching 1050's on it takes about 5 minutes. Since I don't see myself loading multiple calibers at the same time I think it was more economical to go this route
  2. So I've picked up 2 more 1050s, apparently this is a disease. One is an RL and one is a Super, and the RL is totally different than my current RL. This new (to me) one appears to be similar to the ones Angus has shown in some of his videos, where the dowel pins are actually in a bearing race and there is no C-clip holding the race in place. So does anyone have a good history on the 1050s? I'd like to see how they started and where they are now.
  3. liquid laundry soap, I just bought some cheap Costco stuff and it works great.
  4. The reason I use laundry detergent instead of dish detergent is I found it easier and quicker to rinse. I don't find it takes much time to sort the pins out and like that they remove the crap inside the case, I mean dirt and debris that gets in there from the mud and crap on the ranges. As for dryer sheets yeah used to use those when I tumbled dry, dust still got everywhere. Wet is, for me, the only way to go.
  5. Ego, um,yeah no, it's about not wasting stuff when one doesn't need to.
  6. Had mine for years, never noticed any movement. Noticed changes in powder density enough that I had to change the settings, but that's it.
  7. can we see that thing run so that it's emptying the cases out? I've seen similar operations with bullets and bolts and such, but never with cases
  8. I broke the bolt being discussed a couple posts above, replaced it with ah stainless bolt with a shoulder on it (cut the head off) until the replacement showed up. It's sole function seems to be to get the primer slide in one of it's two index points, forward enough that the index rod on the toolhead can grab it and line it up properly with the shell plate or rearward enough to get the next primer. Before mine broke it was grooved quite deeply and still managed to work just fine. I think there must be something else at play here to be causing the slide to not go far enough forward.
  9. I run RCBS resizing/decapping carbide die, Redding micrometer seating die, and a Lee FCD on my 1050. My RCBS Carbide sizing die was retrofitted to take the Dillon decapping unit as I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I found the Dillon sizing die undersized my brass too much resulting in a weird hour glass shape once loaded. Had a few issues with feeding, not sure if that's why, but once I changed out to the setup I described those issues vanished.
  10. I didn't have good luck with the liquid Lemishine, but did with liquid Jet Dry, but now use powder Lemishine and get super shiny cases in 1hr. Although the range corroded ones I did (complete with brass moss growing on them lol) took quite a bit longer, and I redid them after resizing and depriming, to clean them even more. This time only dumping half in the tumbler to get a little more tumbling action going. But with regular brass I fill right to below the neck with brass, dumping the pins in about half way through filling the tumbler. But I think I am going to back that amount off a tad and maybe leave a couple inches from the neck.
  11. tumbling the pins with brass cleans them just fine, use the magnet pull them from the bottom of the bucket or separator or whatever you use, after rinsing, and they should be sparkly. Even if they rusted a bit, which I've yet to see, a few minutes of hitting cases will polish them right up.
  12. yeah not sure why you are rinsing out the tumbler itself and doing all that extra work. I use a RCBS media separator (I think a few companies sell the enclosed ones of the same design), first I put the slotted cap on the tumbler and dump out all the crap and as many pins come out with a shake or two. Then dump that dirty water out of the separator and use the magnet to transfer the pins to a plastic jar (old peanut butter one). Then I put the bottom tray of back in the separator and pour in about half the cases. Fill the separator up until about half way with hot hot water, put the top half on, put the lid on and spin. As I use laundry detergent I get little foam and only have to rinse twice (pouring out the water and replacing). Then I do a bunch of dry spins to get as much water out of the cases as possible. Dump them in a bucket, transfer the pins, and do the last half of the contents. I then throw all the pins back in the tumbler and let them sit submerged until the next time I use it.
  13. I run my dirtiest cases, the ones that sat in a bucket half full of water for a year, stained and growing green moss, for 3hrs. The rest 30 minutes to 1hr with pins. The entire sorting and rinsing process is maybe 10 minutes all told. About the same as I would do separating dry media.
  14. Quinetics bullet puller, I think they make the RCBS/Lee/Dillon ones anyhow. But they have one that you don't have to the whole cap off every time, it's just a half turn of the cap and dump out the contents then insert new round to be pulled, half turn tight and smack. Fastest I've ever used.
  15. I've had 3 cases (not deprimed) with the 2x2 stuck pins in them in about 50,000 cases. Once with me pulling the handle and twice with the MkVII doing it. I bent the rod in the decapping die when I did it, and only just bent the pin when the machine did it. I am going to get the bigger pins one day, but I'm in no hurry. I do use the pins because, well, I like shiny things and shiny interiors of cases makes me happy. I lube my cases so this weird, carbon lubes, thing doesn't matter to me.
  16. I thought I was going to hate drying but find it's really not a big deal, in the summer they go in the sun, in the winter they go in front of the fireplace. Regardless of time of year, if either of those two don't work they go in the oven.
  17. yup Frankford Arsenal. I don't see any others out there that have the volume for anywhere near the price. Phenomenal tumbler
  18. One Shot user here as well, just leave it on. Since going to wet tumbling I don't get the dirty thumb while loading mags either, there isn't anything dirty to get on the cases now. I did clean my dies once I started using the wet tumbling though. Just once, as they haven't gotten dirty since.
  19. Hmm, I have a set of the RCBS competition dies for my 308, never noticed I could drop a bullet in while there was no case present, and not have it fall out??
  20. Micrometer adjusting thimble for the powder measure, bullet feeder and of course the MkVII.
  21. wow, that's impressive for that little of powder. I just loaded some Steel Challenge loads, 3.2grs of TG under 147gr CamPros, out of my Shadow it's now 128pf and out of my Tanfo it came in at 129pf. That load used to be, with a different lot of powder, 123pf. I didn't load the 3.1grs like I used to as I just felt like it was asking for trouble after talking to a few people.
  22. I shoot primarily on an indoor and after the initial lead test came back the club spent the money to have a state of the art air handling system installed. My lead tests dropped quickly after that. This recent spike is strange as I've actually been shooting less lately due to other issues.
  23. might need to try the larger pins, I've had a few cases with two pins stuck in the flash hole, that ruins the moment when you're cruising along
