  1. Fellas, yes I will be in Hungary for the Europeans. Just look for the fat annoying fanged guy (vs the standard fat annoying guy lol) I'd guess (didn't have a gauge) that with the lightest spring installed from the kit you'd have a DA of about 7.5lbs, maybe 8. SA I have no idea. What really impressed me about this gun vs Maria's is that I know this gun has zero tuning done to it. The owner was kind enough to let me use it and he had shot 200 rounds through it in practice and then the pre match of 360 rounds. Other than adjusting the trigger over travel it's straight out of the box.
  2. The grease won't help. When I get down to tightening the screw the last bit, I use a long straight punch to hold the spring place, tighten it very snug and then back off a bit to straighten the spring. Haven't had complaints from people whose guns I've worked on, nor had my own come loose. I have also used blue loctite on some of them, when it is available. Also, I have changed which leg I bend on the spring, I bend the right leg when the gun is setup for right handed shooters. I've noticed some very strange trigger bar springs lately, completely deformed and the owners swearing they have never taken them out before. Definitely a spring I carry in my parts kit now so I can replace when necessary.
  3. so having now put a few thousand rounds down range through a couple different Shadow 2s I thought I'd throw in some take aways. The new grip is killer, it really is, including creating new sore spots and calluses on my right hand, especially in the middle just above below the center of the palm. The gun I used this past weekend had much sharper checkering than Maria's gun did, and man did it dig in good. I adjusted the newer gun's overtravel screw and ended up with the single nicest trigger I've ever felt in DA. Once the hammer drops the trigger is stopped, no overtravel at all, and an amazingly short reset, shorter than what my Shadows have and they are short. The CZ new Short Reset Disco allows for a wee bit of take up in SA, a tad more than the Pre B, and I think I like it better actually as it gives one a little bit of leeway when taking longer on the sights for hard targets. With 147gr bullets the recoil is absolutely minimal. I was always worried about the front sight diving as the slide slammed home, but haven't noticed that at all. This video is from Rooster Mountain 2016 in Denmark. great match. Time was 4.99 with 10 alphas and 1 charlie.
  4. I had to do a google search and then click a link for a thread to get here, nothing from the old site is working to redirect it seems. Thanks for all your work as well Brian, it's much appreciated
  5. I found the grip the biggest difference, I have big hands and absolutely love the grip now. Now tape needed at all. Also really like the slightly longer sight radius and profile of the slide when shooting. I found I was making tough shots easier than experience expected during the match.
  6. 11lb I believe, will have to ask Robin tomorrow at the airport as he's the one who tuned the gun for Maria.
  7. not my greatest shooting, having issues with the changes in light levels on the range and seeing the front sight quickly, but man, does this gun shoot nice with 147gr bullets. 131.85PF is perfect.
  8. yes, they are reversible, and you don't need to tweak the mag catch spring to stop the catch from over inserting if you press too hard, it's designed different and won't allow that.
  9. production guns have started shipping as far as I know, as I've seen guns in the wild now over here. I know the Shadow sold better in Europe for a long long time compared to the USA, so maybe that's why Europe might get more? If they do that is? With my plans to return to the factory on hold until I get my guns back from the Ukraine I can't tell you much.
  10. I doubt the US is at the bottom of the list, they are the biggest market, but they won't be getting 100% of their initial order I'd think. Probably everyone will get some, then some again and so on and so on. the production guns are very very nice, I can't tell the difference between them and the ones Robin and Maria are using.
  11. looking at those videos there is more pretravel in SA and a longer reset after the shot, than one would have with a Shadow with the comp hammer and Pre B disco installed
  12. so a bit more than a regular Shadow with a PreB disco in it and a competition hammer?
  13. yes they do fit as seen in this pic of two S2s in the wild... right one is the S2 grip left one is a regular Shadow grip
  14. whichever works best for you is the way to go dude

    CZ Shadow 2

Slide eggs was my failed attempt at humor, sigh, but yes they are milled from square stock. I honestly can't remember if the regular Shadow is done the same. Something else that is interesting, much like Detroit used to do with engine blocks, CZ ages their barrel blanks. The round bar stock is left outside for up to 1.5 years before being machined. The first operation being the removal of the rust layer, then boring then hammer forging. The boring and hammer forging runs are super cool, with the new hammer forge being rather quite.
  16. tightening that spring is a shady trick. I loctite now, if I have it available, as I'm not going to go in there and try to stake the thing again. but you need to try to the screw back to the same spot if you can, and hold the trigger bar springs from twisting. I tend to go a bit further than original and then back it out to where it was (I take a pic before I take it apart).
  17. Interesting. So you're bending one leg at 45 degrees so that it contacts the other leg when the mag release is firmly pressed? I didn't catch that from your first post. I thought you meant you were just bending the leg and adding more tension to it. That's a good idea. sorry, should have turned my snark down on my reply, didn't realize I hadn't explained it well (travelling a lot right now and often typing half asleep). But yes, bending the leg in at the end is the trick. That's how they tune them at the factory for their shooters, that's what Angus and Stuart at CZ custom taught me too. Regarding the photo posted above, new springs always look like that, but quickly set to what the single spring on the left looks like after being in the gun for awhile. It doesn't matter how much you spread the legs and then install them, you can still over press the mag catch and cause mags to bind.

    CZ Shadow 2

I didn't think to throw the mag catch in my Shadow from the 2, should have. But I wouldn't be surprise if it didn't work due to the frame size difference, but not sure if that area is affected the same. sear cage, trigger bar, trigger, springs, should all be good to go. but not sure why anyone would want to put those parts in a regular Shadow when all those parts are available in tuned editions etc. Grips from the old Shadow will work on new, but not the other way.

    CZ Shadow 2

Was at the factory all day Wednesday. Saw the new production line and QC machines, very very nice. Took a few pics, but it's PITA to upload them here. Anyhow, they have had a delay, they are hoping to start shipping next week, we'll see. I go back on the 28th and hope to get more news, if they haven't started shipping by then.
  22. how does bending the last 3mm of the leg of the spring increase the spring tension exactly? It doesn't actually. you bend the last 3mm of the leg in towards the other leg to about 45 degrees. If you bend further than that the mag catch might not go in far enough to release the mag, to solve that, hit the catch with a dead blow hammer and it will flatten out the spring a bit at that new bend, or take it out and do it manually. If you bend more than the last 3mm you end up with a spring that doesn't engage the mag catch properly, again, easy fix, straighten and bend at the right spot. It doesn't have to be perfect, just make sure the bend is contained inside the catch. Removing material from the catch means you are working on the most expensive part with the worst possible consequences if you screw up. I've replaced many many catches that people have tried to fit. Have yet to need to replace a spring.
  23. it is completely unnecessary to remove material from the mag catch itself, and very often when done, you end up with taking off too much and the catch hangs up on the frame. The simplest, easiest, and cheapest method is to bend the spring leg. This prevents the catch from going in too far, which is all you need. That's how the guys at CZ Custom do it and other custom shops. It literally takes 10 seconds to do once you've got the parts out of the gun
