  1. I did a search but I could not find any info about the top 16 at Nationals so I figured I would simply ask here. What happened or really why has the .org stopped giving Metals for the Top 16 at Nationals and metals for a stage win at Nationals? I know we no longer have the Top 16 going to a shoot off like IPSC continues doing but to me both a Top 16 and or a stage win at Nationals would be a pretty big accomplishments Maybe some see these small victories participation trophies? IDK, but thanks for looking.
  2. Now you can kill two birds with one trip to the range. You can shoot groups that will bring back your tigger finger close to where it was and check you ammo for accuracy and maybe chrono a few rounds and that would be a trifecta....
  3. I don’t see any data on 3n38 and 9mm. I see where it says whoever loads 3n38 with 9mm but I don’t see any info with data. Our 9x19, 9mm not the 9x21 9mm. That’s a totally different case and I would just load super or comp if I wanted something other than 9mm. I can load most any power and it will go bang but specific load data on 3n38 using a 9x19 standard 9mm case I do not see where Vith lists it. Vith DOES NOT say anything about 9mm with 3n38 making MAJOR. They post is what someone other than Vith posted on their site and then she is talking about heavy loads. Whatever that means, maybe a heavy bullet? In open that would be a waste maybe just shoot .040 open.
  4. I do the same (just leave the dot on at a match) with my DPP except I don’t think I have ever shit with the dot as bright as it will go. Even when I have to deal with the sun in the am or pm. The dot is just way to bright and will make target focus really difficult and for me in open that’s all I need to do is target focus. Cheers.
  5. Some FMJ have the bottom open to lead and then again some plated rounds are completely enclosed. If you choose to go with FMJ by ordering them, just make sure you know what you’re getting. As far as 3n38, I use it because it’s very consistent, meters good, pretty clean burning powder, I have loaded enough 3n38 to push some Rainier Ballistics 124gr Match .38 in super comp to over 1550fps = 192+ PF w/o any crazy signs of pressure issues and 3n38 creates LOTS of gas so you get the most out of your comp. my 2cents, Good luck gents.
  6. Replacing the battery has been my only non-issue. Inexpensive batteries so I defiantly replace them way to often. My first DP batteries the battery life was inconsistent. One would only last a month the next would last 3 then one would only last a few weeks. The Dot will flash but it's to late if the Dot is flashing. Even at make ready if my Dot is flashing I will back out and replace the old battery for a fresh battery. Also I don't buy batteries in the 4 pack bundles I buy them in single packs so I don't get a bad pack and I have purchased bad batteries from Duracell and Sony but the Bunny has been pretty solid for the DP Pro over the last few years. When I replace the batteries I look over the contacts and check things out. Good luck!!

  8. Then don’t, if you have 10 bays, don’t ask to host that higher level matches or maybe don’t charge as much for the match. Oh here is another thought, have two stages in one bay maybe don’t put the chrono stage in a bay or maybe don’t have a chrono stage. I don’t care for the last option but I still shoot level 2 matches that have no chrono stage. But if you are looking at add bays and elect to host a major match as a reason to add bays in hopes the match will cover the cost the things you listed you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. I would believe each state has a range already in place to support 15 stages.
  9. Good stages and the total number of good stages are what I would like to see. We seem to be stuck on 9 to 10 stages for a section or state match, why? Money is no excuse, the cost goes up fot the most part each year and the number of stages stay the same... Pay the top 3 in each class but pay 3rd place GM more than the top placing M and so on down the line. No B class winner should get more than the 3rd place A class shooter. If you want more put in the effort and move up and stop sand-bagging to get more. Just my opinion. Look at A6 in 2017 612 shooters, subtract 50 or 60 shooters for staffing this event (if you have 13) stages and a few Jr shooters that’s around 90k plus in entry fees. Money is not a reason it’s an excuse. I still would like to know who received all those guns that A6 was giving away? I paid to shoot and from what I have found is no one knows or no one is sayin other than a few and a few is far from the number that was said to be given away. I don’t care if every one of the staff got a gun. Good deal, they earned it. Myself and many other would just like to know. I don’t care if it’s for profit or not.
  10. For the better part of 20 years I raced motor cycles. 2 bikes per class. 1 to race and one to practice with for 2 classes that’s 4 bikes a year well over 20k add the trailer, truck, generator pressure washer and on and on. My parents know and I learned as I became an adult for the last 15 I raced motorcycles and still working 50 hours a week to make ends meet. These are to totally different sports, motor sports vs shooting sports are on totally opposite ends of the competitive scale. The only thing in common is we enjoy them both, but the money is so different they can not be compared. I have plenty of scars still to prove my efforts as well.
  11. No, worries glad to help. I wonder if they may post the stages or at least let is know if they're planning any different or odd start procedures.
  12. South River Gun Club. http://maps.apple.com/?q=South+River+Gun+Club+Inc&ll=33.5035552978516%2c-83.989387512207&sll=33.5035552978516%2c-83.989387512207&ppois=33.5035552978516_-83.989387512207_South+River+Gun+Club+Inc
  13. Yea, Crash has broken things down well. He touched on quite a few things I skipped over. Good stuff Crash. Good luck Chris.
  14. They were on vacation not all that long ago, I received an email stating they would be back In about a week or so.thanks...
  15. After a year it doesn’t matter what they recommend, it’s not like they offer a lifetime warranty, all though i dont kniw about the original owner situation. I only know about an SV just over a year old and being the 2nd owner. I run 3n38 and I have played with AA#7 and that is about the closest to 3n38 avalible in the states but Vetcan SP-2 is closer than AA#7 but we have have not been able to get it in the states for a while now.
  16. What difference does it make? Do they have some Magic powder? They don’t and if we take our time when we load out owns billets we can come up with better Ammo for our owns guns than AA can. Thanks
  17. Maybe you can follow this, on complicated stages after you find the targets and all the position you must go to, just think about economy, straight lines. hard leans, the easy positions to exit from or enter to. If the position seem equal and you must shoot from say both sides (of whatever) chances are you have a more confident side to enter or leave from). Play to your strengths as much as you can then work on your weaknesses in practice. You are only as good as you are now, so that won’t change the day of or even/match so don’t use a match as training. Treat em like majors and make them mean something. Maybe go shoot with the best shooter at the local matches and watch and see if you can pick up free tips. We can all learn something from all levels of shooters. It may not all be good..... Smh Try to shoot with friends so you can bounce ideas of stage planning off one another. That’s a easy one. Most any shoot likes to talk shooting so ask questions (at the right times). I think most importantly is after you decided how you are going to shoot a stage, 1. don’t change your plan it without PLENTY of time to RE-memorize the whole stage (like starting over) not just that short cut you found. 2. Memorize the stage with every shot hitting the Alphas. Like you’re watching a movie in slow motion so you can see as much detail as possible. 3. Let go and don’t think about shooting. let your subconscious do all the work and if you have visualized a good stage plan well enough you won’t need to think about the shooting, moving, reloads etc. all you need to do is see the sights when the shot breaks. That’s it, play the movie (of your run) as many times as it takes to memorize the stage, then do it more and all you think about is calling you shoots or watching the sights as the shot breaks after the start. Heck maybe you can get a nugget or so from all this, damn if I know. lol cheers
  18. Honestly, go to a GM that knows how to tech and take a class. Not all GM’s can tech so Max Michel for anything with a dot Manny Bragg limited Shannon Smith open Ben Stoger Production mental Steve Anderson or any combo you like, this way I don’t show favorites. Lol If you are a newbie then taking a class and doing what they suggest will be the best bang for your dollar. It will be fastest way to get to where you want to be or do it the hard way and make every mistake in the book over and over again than end up in a class kicking yourself for not doing it when you where a newbie. All the best, Matt
  19. Agreed. I think trigger control is drills are never shot enough.
  20. It only works if you do it and the only reason anyone does it is to get better. Your choice. Good luck and if you are going to dry fire then do it right. Great practice makes for great results.
  21. So Im thinking the best way to check for hammer follow is to actually shoot the gun. Correct?
  22. Very well stated ! We paid $200.00 for 12 stages. $275 for 20 stage Nationals. I still think why not pay 3 places. If you want to do 3 per class fine and if not fine. For that $200.00 we all expected more stages, we are shooters i think we all would like more stages. Just my thinking keep the awards add stages
  23. Loose grip screws can play havoc on you ignition system also. I check em before I shoot a match and when I clean her after each time I finish shooting.
