  1. Witnessed a squib at my second match (this past weekend) from one of the revolver guys. It was factory Remington ammo. Sometime it happens. My production Glock 34 has a guide rod, sights, and I just ordered a DK trigger. I might eventually put skate tape on it. That's all I'll ever do to it.
  2. If you plan to use your pistol inside a house, 500 lumens is WAY overkill, and back splash of light on light walls will blind you also.
  3. It's summer, just throw your media separator on top of your house's AC unit. Collect brass in 20-30 min.
  4. Has anyone tried Rocksett? Suppressor companies use it for muzzle devices because it can handle ~2000 deg F, but it's still about the same strength as blue locktite. I think it might be a better threadlocker in a situation like this.
  5. My gen 4 G34 has been 100% since I bought it in early '12.
  6. light lube with CLP, tetra gun grease the barrel. I noticed less finish wear when I switched to a grease. I do it that way because I had the grease already. I clean them when I feel like it.
  7. Correct, and the G28. They're 26/19 sized guns with molded in spacers at the back of the magazines and the barrel hood is relieved to make them blowback guns. They're not sold here due to import law (the stupid sporting points system).
  8. I have an MTAC for my 19 and a belt holster for my 34 (before the International came out), and they make quality holsters. I'm resisting buying an International too. You also get smarties with every order.
  9. The Crye pants are amazing. I was issued a set by my unit, they've been through 2 2-week shooting courses, lots of field training, and are my call response pants while deployed right now (EOD tech deployed in A-stan). They are pricey though.
  10. I kinda already did all that. I've been to a couple shooting schools through the military, but never got into competition until now. Even so, it's a bit different. I found being under a timer is a better stressor than having someone screaming in your ear (you learn to put plugs under your muffs and just ignore). I'm in podunk west TX. It was an unofficial practice match, but there's several clubs from an hour to 3 away and I learned a bunch of guys meet at the local range to carpool.
  11. And I had a blast! Shot my stock (except Sevigny sights) G34. I was shooting limited minor, since it was unofficial. 4 stages, 60 rounds. I shot 2nd of 5, behind the open guy with the 2011 and in front of the B-class limited guy with the 2011 (he did have ammo problems to his credit). I'm hooked.
  12. I picked up the gen 4 for the reversible mag release because I'm a lefty.
  13. I just got one because I'm left handed. Finding holsters for lefties sucks. That's my only gripe. I embarrassed my BIL first time out breaking clays at ~40 yards. He couldn't keep up with his ar-15. ETA needs sights and eventually trigger work.
  14. This link goes a little more in depth with videos, etc: http://www.naemt.org/education/PHTLS/TCCC.aspx It's the current TCCC (Tactical Casualty Combat Care) curriculum, and would be a good addition to the Army FM. ETA: This is the trauma kit I keep in my truck. I wouldn't suggest a Cric kit if you don't have the training though. http://www.narescue.com/media/NAR/product-info-sheets/PIS-NAR-4-Chest-Pouch.pdf
  15. I just joined, and I'm deployed right now. I wanted the magazine I hope to get back home sometime next year to shoot production with a 9mm M&P pro. A little off topic, anyone know who makes an M&P holster for a lefty (most of the usual suspects don't seem to have lefty models on their website)? Thanks, should've checked them. I even have an mtac for my carry G19. Comptac makes a lefty holster.

  17. I was issued a blackhawk pack, and I'm not a fan. I like camelbak, mystery ranch, Maxpedition, etc better. And I've never been able to get the terrible rubber taste out of the blackhawk's bladder after numerous washings
  18. If you hold the bolt release button down while pulling back on the charging handle a shell won't be released from the magazine. It's a bit of a 2 handed operation (and easier as a lefty), though.
  19. Did you ever get an answer? I looking to convert an FN I did this earlier today to my new SLP. On the side of the trigger pack there's a duckbill shaped spring holding the safety detent in. Pull it out with some needle-nose pliers. Push the safety button out (mine took a couple light taps with a wooden dowel and a hammer). Reverse everything. Remove the detent, install it first on opposite side of trigger pack. Reinstall reversed safety. Install spring over detent.
