  1. As a quadcopter hobbyist, I wouldn't bother, unless you have someone not shooting to pilot it. There's just too much stuff going on between shooting, loading mags, taping, etc. to add flying a quad, dealing with batteries, working the camera, etc.
  2. I recently bought a house and was able to move my bench inside. It enables a lot easier reloading due to weather. It's not really feasible during west Texas July to reload when the temp in my garage is over 100 degrees until 10 pm. Only complaint by the family is that my 8 and 4 year old girls have to share a bedroom.
  3. This is my current load for my Shadow also.
  4. This is what's on my Shadow right now. I'm debating VZ diamondbacks, or the checkered aluminum grips from CZ-USA right now.
  5. The cutouts for the mag release are on both sides of the magazine (factory and mec gar). Reverse the magazine release, put it back together, and it works.
  6. Finally had a moment to sit down and put the frame in a vise (had to buy some padded jaws). Screwdriver bit in a ratchet makes me wonder why I was cussing so much before. How many times do you need to repeat the lesson of "right tool for the right job?" The answer is still repeating itself at 33 years old.
  7. I just got this one a week ago.
  8. I decided on a Shadow. Mags are cheaper, I'm already setup for 9mm reloading, and this thing is sweet! Edit: There was a 9mm Edge at the local gunshop for $2200 with 5 mags. It would have been more tempting if it was in .40 to shoot limited.
  9. The staking on the frame is really tight on the retaining screw. So bad that it started to twist my screwdriver blade. Has anyone had luck with putting the frame in a vise and using a manual impact driver? I'm figuring that the worst that can happen is I bugger the screw and have to take it to someone to drill the screw out and replace it.
  10. I had a start last match where the mags and unloaded gun were outside the shooting area. With bullets out pouches, it was easy to grab 2, put them in my first and third pouch, grab 2, put them in second and forth, load, and move into the shooting area. I skipped pouches because when doing it dry I found that the contortions required were faster and more reliable to alternate. Edit: I grabbed the 4th mag because the last shooting position was a texas star and I'm still a noob. I wanted a backup mag.
  11. This is probably the best idea. I've shot 2 of my friend's 1911's, and they shoot well. They just didn't jump at me (positive side, they're going to go in my gun safe while my buddy moves to Japan for the Air Force ) . Finding a CZ to shoot will be more difficult in my area. There is an SP-01 in the display locally, and it feels wonderful. I just don't know anyone that owns or rents one. I need to ask someone at the next match if I can put a few rounds through their limited gun. My biggest worry is grip size since I have girl hands.
  12. I have a press (LNL AP), 20 lbs of N320, about 13k small pistol primers, and a few thousand MG 124 gr JHP's from the last case I've bought. I've shot for fun and work for about 6 years and reloaded for about 4. I'll be buying a case feeder for the LNL AP before I buy a gun, but it runs smooth so I have no reason to sell it for a dillon yet.
  13. I'm currently shooting Production with a G34, and I've shot 6 matches. I should be a C when classifiers are run next (screwed up my first 2 and shot in the 20%'s and shot 2 in the 60%'s, ). I've always shot Glocks, but I'm kind of bored with them. I simply want to try something new. I'm selling a motorcycle, and should be able to get $4500 out of it, which will be all recreation money. I'm currently enjoying the stage planning that goes into Production, but blasting away with a limited gun looks like fun. Also, there's not a lot of people shooting Production at my club. It's usually 2-4 shooters out of ~30. The largest group of shooters is always in Limited. So, should I use this to get into limited, or get an SP-01 Shadow (or an ACCU Shadow)? Yes, I realize just getting a new gun won't make me an instant GM or even make me better. I really just want to have a nicer new gun I can also compete with.
  14. I just got a BOSS, and I really like it. I did have problems with them shipping the complete order though.
  15. Also, I think all of the female shooters at my club are wives of guys already there shooting.
  16. snip... and suppressors if your state allows it. .22 and subsonic 9mm are amazing fun to shoot suppressed.
  17. I just got my order from Graf's. They lie!!! Website said up to 3 days for processing hazmat orders. I got my order in 3 days.
  18. Initial impression: It sucks!!! So I started taking it apart. Here's all the bits This is the safety shield. It's dang annoying, and had to go. Unfortunately, it activates an internal microswitch, but I fixed that. So I took it apart. I've already added a ziptie to the microswitch to keep it closed. Closeup This is the spring that keeps the filler tube in place. It had some flash, so I chamfered both ends with a deburring tool. I also chamfered and deburred the primer tubes. The trays themselves don't have a bunch of flash, so I haven't cleaned them up. In the below video, you can see that a few of the primers try to tip. If that gets annoying, I'll clean it up with an xacto knife. Here's a video of the second tray I filled up after the modifications: 100 primers in a little over 20 seconds. It works decent now. Additionally, not in the pics, it comes with 2 small primer tubes and 2 large primer tubes. It's not perfect, but it seems to need less fiddling than the frankford arsenal primer filler from other threads I've seen.
  19. After finding an SP-01 at a local gunshop, I can lock the slide back with an upward sweep of my trigger finger and release it with the pad of my trigger finger. This is how I operate my G34, so non-issue. I'll be ordering a Shadow as soon as I close on my house next week.
  20. because I'd like to not have to use weird contortions for basic manual of arms. I guess I need to play with one in a gun store a little more to see if I can do it with my trigger finger like I do with my G34. It's been a few years since I checked one out, I just remember them feeling nice in the hand. Or just get a CZ-85 Combat. I was just wanting an SP-01.
  21. I'm thinking about an SP-01 for production, but I'm a lefty. I'd kind of like to have the ambi slide stop of the CZ-85. Will it fit, with or without machining/fitting, and, assuming I'm reading the below quoted rule correctly, it should be Production legal, right? "21.6 Exchange of minor EXTERNAL components Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers, pins, extractors and ejectors MAY be replaced with OFM or aftermarket parts. Any other components which are externally visible may ONLY be replaced with OFM parts which are offered on the specific model of gun or another approved gun from the same manufacturer except as specifically clarified below. Examples of external components which may only be replaced with OFM parts include (but are not limited to): magazine releases, slide stops, thumb safeties and triggers. The Vanek trigger, much like the Speed Bump trigger, has an external modification that makes it illegal for Production division. The Speed Bump trigger has the travel screw mounted to the rear of the trigger and is visible externally, the Vanek trigger, has relocated the pivot pin about 3/16” above the factory specs, and has filled in the original hole with a black material that is still visible on inspection. Special Notes/Clarifications: •Barrels are considered “external parts” and are subject to specific restrictions in 21.4 and associated rulings. •A factory/OFM magazine release which extends only the length of the magazine release may be used. A magazine release which provides a larger surface area (paddles, buttons) may only be used if it is an OFM part available on an approved model of gun. •Externally-visible parts from “custom shop” guns will only be considered “OFM parts” if the custom-shop gun is on the NROI list of approved Production guns."
  22. Yea I was waiting until next week to order some stuff, and now they have no N320...
  23. The one I got for my Gen 4 34 a couple weeks ago has a gen 3 no bump trigger bar.
