  1. And the reason was pure greed. The organizers of the Indy 500 thought they were bigger than the sport and could force all the CART drivers to join their new league for the PRIVILEDGE of driving in their race.... hence the Indy Racing League. Of course, CART wasn't going to die without a fight so basically the pool of drivers and cars split up and the losers were the fans. Their events stage at different places at the same time, rules in IRL are different enough that the cars have to be different and the whole thing is a mess. CART eventually went under from the spilt. I read that the IRL was also hovering near bankruptcy most of the time, I hope that's true. They deserve it for what they did.
  2. We fly without a net, we "do without", and we hope like hell we don't already have anything that needs treatments like that OR have any accidents of ANY kind in the next 20 years. The rest of us just declare bankrupcty. Kudos for a succinct and accurate summation of the American Health Care system as it now exists.... God help us all.
  3. Prayers on the way, you are correct that the one thing no American afford is to get sick. I don't know what the answer is, but we definitely need to do something about it. Glad you have insurance that covers most of it. Hope your wife gets well soon.
  4. Curious about whether there is a spec for the fit of the Glock barrel: The front to rear play with the barrel in the slide, which is set by the distance to the breech face and the edge of the slide cutout the barrel fits in. With my barrel in the slide and pushed all the way to the rear, I measure maybe .002 - .003" gap at the front edge. The reason I ask: this barrel has too much headspace and I was wondering how much is OK to shave off the rear surface to reduce headspace, but not too much to make the fit too loose in the slide. Thanks.
  5. If you have allergic eyes, you probably know about Zaditor. My doc says they are the best, they do work well. I used to get two 10mL bottles on scrip through Kaiser for $5 until Zaditor went OTC, and then Kaiser doesn't cover it. Same (2X) 10 mL amount went up to 50 BUCKS. I looked all over the net but the best Zaditor price around was $12 for 5mL. Since I go through a bottle every three weeks to a month, that's more than pocket change in a year. Then I noticed bausch and Lomb made Alaway drops which had the same ingredients, cost about $12/bottle. Looked like the same price until I did the "English to metric" conversion and found out Alaway gives you the full 10 mL for $12 and Zaditor only gives you 5 mL for $12. BTW: you can get a freebie bottle of Alaway from Bausch and Lomb just by filling out their form at their home site. http://www.tryalaway.com/ http://hocks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Sc...BhoXlcB73uj8g__
  6. I like her too, but I think the racing world would take her more seriously if she didn't pose for cheesecake shots like this. It's kind of silly. And for the record: if she had breasts, that photo would be a lot more entertaining....
  7. Brownell's sells everything at retail list to the general public, I have never seen anything from them discounted to prices I can get many other places.
  8. That's what I am thinking as well.
  9. It did shoot .40 no problem, but it was all stock when I did it. I haven't tried shooting .40 with the new trigger, springs, and striker. I should because that would tell me the problem is the 9mm barrel headspace (or crappy primers) if the .40 shoots no problem..... and I have some Miwall .40 ammo which would probably have the same crappy primers in them. Thanks, good idea.
  10. Thnks for the feedback, I'll keep working on it. One of those things that God sends down to remind me I am not as smart as I think I am.
  11. They look like good dents, but I am stuck with the fact that the ammo fires 100% in five other 9's, all of which have RP mainsprings to lighten trigger pull. I was thinking the short protrusion distance of the striker nose might just not be pushing in far enough given the .012" setback. Whne those rounds go into any other gun the fire first pop. ALSO: when I do the "BIC pen launch" test that sucker flies staright up to the ceiling with great velocity, so I think there is enough strike energy... just not 100% sure the striker is going in deep enough given the setback. Anyway, it's just a theory. Yeah, but given the fact I have about five cases of Miwall, I am pretty interested in getting it to shoot in the gun. It really is the only "decently priced" ammo left and they have a west coast warehouse so the shipping $$$ isn't too severe. The cheapest new 9mm ammo I can find online now is about $220/case and I heard it just went up again (I haven't looked in a couple of months). I'm not going to be doing much shooting when the ammo is $.25 per trigger pull for cheap 9mm ammo.
  12. Not sure. I would assume they are whatever is the cheapest junk on the planet.
  13. Good idea, but that thing's already been in my closet for a while now. Still getting misfires.
  14. Yeah, I am starting to see just how finnicky they are. problem is, with the heavy stock trigger I shoot so lousy I don't want to shoot the gun. It is way easier to shoot with the 3# trigger. Not the gun's fault, just an observation.
  15. That wouldn't be any fun...... with the price of .40 ammo, it would just become a safe queen.
  16. No screw, and BTW I removed the firing pin safety plunger just to make sure it wasn't dragging on the FP to cause light strikes. No help.
  17. I am so fed up with this G35. I have the EFK 9mm conversion barrel so I can afford to shoot it.... and I have the trigger tweaked nicely, but have always had misfires on and off. So, I buy about five cases of 9mm Miwall reload ammo and it shoots fine in my SIG, Beretta, Hi Power, CZ, and the rest. But, the stupid Glock misfires a bunch. I had a RP striker spring, so I figured a few misfires might be normal. I bought a lightning strike reduced mass striker, and thought that would help: Tonight, I had six misfires out of 16 rounds of Miwall ammo. The "dud" rounds had some pretty deep dents in the primer, I mean good smacks. I reloaded and whacked them again in the Glock, no fire. Put them in my Hi Power and all fired no problem. NEVER had a misfire in any other gun with that ammo, just the Glock. I just checked the headspace on the EFK 9mm barrel, and it looks like there is about .012" gap between the primer face and the top of the "locating block" that meets the breech face. Is that gap enough to cause misfires by allowing the round to move and absorb energy? Is this a defective barrel? It fits the slide perfectly and cycles well. Would it help to shave the end of the striker body to allow the tip to protrude a bit farther coming forward? I have a stronger mainspring in than the 4LB (RP) spring, the one I'm using is about halfway between the 4LB and stock weights. I suppose if I crank the spring up enough, the rounds might fire, but the trigger pull weight goes way up when I do that. I'm about ready to shoot this gun, and I mean shoot it using a different gun....
  18. They just won't admit two things: 1) The cities with the tightest and most restrictive gun laws like Chicago and New York have some of the highest rates of gun violence. 2) More laws don't help because LAWS ONLY AFFECT PEOPLE WHO OBEY THEM. I am 100% in favor of enforcing the laws we have now.......
  19. I use a thin steel ruler as a straight edge and wrap 600# paper on it and tape it in place for a good polishing tool. You can also use a stone. Best to clamp the piece you are polishing (striker or trigger bar) in a small vise so it doesn't "rock" while you polish as that will round the face. I polished the striker tab's face dead smooth and also the sear tab's face on the trigger bar. Keep the angles the same. Don't use a dremel wheel.
  20. From what I read, Vijay Singh pretty much nailed down the title of the hardest working man in show (golf) business.
  21. I don't love him or hate him. I simply and accurately noted he has progressed to the point in his career where he cherry picks where and when he will apply the energy to play in a tournament, and sometimes that attitude shows in his play (ie, when he's out of it he checks out mentally). Young guys are still thrilled to be able to win and give it 100%. maybe Nicklaus got lazy when he felt he had made his name. maybe Mickelson is doing the same thing now, he sure doesn't put out the effort he used to. My point is that young guns like Trevor still want to play and show up to play. Somebody with the fire like he has eventually will be the guy who pushes Tiger into the "former great" category.
  22. I agree and I disagree. I agree he will win as much as he wants to, but I think his mental game is far and away the best - maybe in the world. Yeah he gets frustrated when he makes a bad shot....so do I. I bet most of the shooters here would be frustrated if they blew a stage - and that's without even having professionals in this sport vying for millions of dollars or the equivalent of a green jacket. Yeah he gets pissed at himself when he blows a shot - can you really blame him? Just because he is a professional athlete does that mean that he can't even get upset anymore? What you see as whining I see as the frustration that stems from not performing like you know you are able to. Kind of an irrelevant point to beat to death, but everybody who competes knows that getting pissed off is distracting and wasted energy. If you look at the premium quality champions of the past in most sports, they don't lose it and waste the energy on getting mad. They just don't.It's true Tiger often follows a blown shot with a great recovery shot. It's also true he sometimes "checks out mentally" in a round when he knows he has no chance of winning. My point is that not controlling one's temper is a waste of energy and reduces your chances of winning.
  23. I think Tiger will win as much as he decides he wants to. By that, I mean he is gifted with physical skills well beyond most but he doesn't impress me much with his mental game. he doesn't control his temper well, he whines too much, and he acts like he is doing everybody a favor just showing up.... and he only plays maybe half the tournaments. Maybe because he makes so much money in endorsements he figures he doesn't have to work that hard at it. I think he will win as much as he decides he wants to put in the effort..... we will see how much that is.
  24. I only saw him hit one really stinky hoser shot when he blocked that one into the water late in the day. What makes champions is what he did next: he locked it out and went on like it didn't happen. They guy was making clutch shots and putts all day long. he has a great swing but his mental game is the most impressive. be interesting to see how he progresses from here.
  25. Life itself is a battle that never ends, it's how well you fight the good fight that counts.
