  1. Out here we literally get dozens and dozens of "main" channels OTA and digital channels have anywhere from five to 15 channels "embedded" in the main channel. Most are crap content, but then to be fair, most cable channels are crap too.
  2. My first thought was trade it for a 1911. There are pros on Glock triggers here who once posted the tricks to improve it. Requires tweaking the disconnector, changing the pivot pin location in the trigger, springs, and some other things I did to my G35. Did improve the trigger, never got it good enough for me.
  3. Tell them you just put a Radio Shack TV antenna on your roof and discovered you can get about 200 channels over the air for free and they'll probably cut your bill...... funny I get all those channels OTA for free and a while back, CBS was having a dispute with it's cable affiliate over "rates" and the CBS programming went dark for a month on the cables but not OTA. People were irate, I wonder what would have happened if they found out they could hang a $5 antenna out the window and get it for free. "It was the first time CBS content had been blacked out by a multiple cable system operator in company history. It meant popular shows like 60 Minutes, NCIS and The Big Bang Theory were not available in two of the largest American TV markets."
  4. Yeah, nice. A couple of guys in my league had slide mounted dots and they both died relatively soon. I guess my ideal would be some kind of add on mount to the front frame area so I don't have to alter the slide and I can go back to the iron sights without a big hassle. I guess there isn't enough market for it?
  5. Florida is pretty good, my brother lives there. They had pretty restrictive laws until the Mariel "boatlift" when Jimmy Carter invited Castro to empty his prisons and insane asylums at the expense of Florida. The crime rates went up so much they started opening up the weapons laws.
  6. Isn't Ohio the state that considers a loaded magazine a weapon?California considers a bad attitude a concealed weapon. I know because I always have one.
  7. model 66 with three or four inch barrel. 686 is a fine gun (I own a couple) but the larger frame is more weight to carry around. There are a lot of model 10's with 4" barrels that can be had cheap.
  8. I saw that one . I might end up trying it but the problem is my 1911 has the "double wide" grip adapter on it to make the grip larger and that would have to be removed. I have large hands and long fingers and a single stack just won't grip right for me but the double stack size fits much better.
  9. Yep. Had the exact same thing with my wife. Cycling problems and the gun would never lock back on empty mag because the slide short strokes when the user limp wrists.
  10. I wonder if it is because you can't accurately position the lense with respect to the cornea? I wear progressive glasses and I can move the lense up and down to get a perfect focus on any distance, but a contact lense is where it is based on your eye position and how your eyelids hold onto the lense. I don't think it's as precise.
  11. I'll bet every shooter on earth has done that.
  12. Very true. If you don't have adequate range of travel, it could cause a problem.
  13. They are expendables which means they have to be looked at and replaced when you see a problem, like belts and hoses in your car. They do drastically reduce frame battering but also change cycling since they absorb energy at impact. I ran buffs in every auto I own and have never had a problem. YMMV
  14. I don't have any desire for domestic beer either. Newcastle and Bass ale are among my top 20.I absolutely loved the Spaten Pilsner. The Germans do three things better than any other people on earth: brew beer, build cars and invade Poland.
  15. I suggest you start supporting Production Optics. I did a search for "production optics" and didn't find it. Is it a company?
  16. I have seen the red dots mounted to the slide but always wondered if the recoil force and slide movement wouldn't beat the electronics to death? I worked in electronics design for 30 years and the idea of subjecting it to that kind of g force makes me think it is going to die at an early age. maybe not, but I kind of prefer having the dot mount to the frame if possible. Also, if its a frame mount I can take it off if I need to go back to regular production class.
  17. Old age, failing eyesight and also severe allergies mean my eyes ooze brown goo most days and my close precision vision is pretty much gone. Kills me that nobody makes usable red dot mounts for any of the more popular guns like a CZ-75 for example (the standard one, not the accessory rail one). Or better yet a basic simple add on to put a dot on a 1911? Without drilling, tapping, bunches of hassle. Age discrimination......
  18. I haven't had a beer in about ten years now..... I'm not an alcoholic, but I have severe stomach problems and I can't handle the pain. But I still dream about beer...... and bowling. Drink one for me.
  19. Sick and tired of getting ripped off for 9.25% illegal sales tax because California forces Amazon to illegally collect sales tax on inter state sales from outside of Kali into the state from out of state merchants. The real kicker? Just bought something today that cost $1.99 and cost $4.99 to ship..... and Amazon charged me sales tax ON THE SHIPPING CHARGES. That final turn of the screw. For the record Amazon: I use your site to shop for products then take the description/manufacturer's number and do a google search to find it ANYWHERE ELSE..... just bought a new tail light assembly for my wife's Murano that way. Appreciate the help. Bottom line: the states have ABSOLUTELY NO AUTHORITY to in any way regulate inter state commerce and they shouldn't be allowed to ignore the law. If congress passes a federal intertstate sales tax? I'll shut up and pay it. They have not and I am sick of getting gouged by California.
  20. My wife was director of cardiology at the county hospital for years. About 20 years ago, some scumbags came into the ER and pretended to wait but "strolled" through the office areas and ripped off all the purses they saw for credit cards including my wife's. Then they got back on the freeway and went to the nearest mall and maxed them out buying mostly $500 sneakers which can be resold on the street. The cops called them "Felony Flyers" because they steal them so often. They hit her for about $10k total because one of the cards was a "smart" card and shut itself down based on the activity. The other one maxed out at about $10k limit. Major PITA, took months to get all the charges reversed.
  21. In my prime (15 years back) I practiced once or twice a week (maybe 150 rounds per session) and shot in three leagues (about 60 rounds per). Those years are long gone into history.
  22. First I would polish the throat as some have rotary milling lines from cutting. Also, is throat diameter to spec? If extractor hook is sharp and tension is correct, pretty much leaves the barrel or the ammo. Try other brands of ammo. Next time you have a case stuck in the throat, reach in with finger nail or small screwdriver and check how hard it is to slide it out. If it's too tight, the extractor will just slip the rim. This problem is very common shooting steel case ammo because the case expands and does not come back down as much as brass and stays tight in the barrel throat.
  23. It does kind of sound like the barrel throat is "sizing" the round the last little bit. Check and see if the rounds drop easily into the throat (fully) and then drops out freely when you turn the end downwards.
