  1. Get them direct from BP usa. Right here B&P slugs
  2. I discussed this same thing with Mark.....and his response was like yours Kevin, he rarely used the illumination anyway. I purchased another one on that premise so we'll see how it goes. I've definitely been spoiled by the TR24R in the illumination department.
  3. They said sure, I could drop it off, but it would have to go through the process in the repair shop.....no quick exchange or adjustment. I ended up returning it and purchasing another one a bit cheaper from another vendor. The illumination is the same. I'll live with it.
  4. Same here with the M2. The Remington WM stuff seems a little better quality (amazingly enough) than the Fed or Win. The crimps seem more consistent and better formed for good feeding.
  5. The Salient shell stop does not seem to have been modified in a way that would reduce the engagement with the rim......I compared it to my stock 14" M2. I'll have to see if I can duplicate the problem with that shotgun.
  6. Had a strange issue with these slugs in a match Saturday. We were allowed to pre-load our shotgun tubes at a table prior to shooting and I had done so. The stage required four slug shots to begin, so I had loaded 5 birdshot followed by 3 slugs with another in my pocket to drop in the chamber on the command to load and make ready. When I was up and instructed to load, I pulled the bolt back on the Benelli to drop in the slug, but as I did so the latch released a slug onto the carrier. I cycled that one out and it did it again, dropping a shell onto the carrier when I pulled back the bolt. The RO (thanks JJ) let me go back and sort out this issue and shoot the stage when I got it fixed. Upon examining the B&P slugs, the rims had a very uneven and large bevel on one side. It was bad enough that with a little jarring they were slipping past the shell stop and dropping onto the carrier...check out the pic. I had shot these slugs in my previous 3 matches without issue but I think I just got lucky in the rim orientation when I loaded them into the tube. The shotgun is a Salient M2 and I thought there may be an issue with it, but I compared the shell latch and other parts to my stock M2 and other than some nice polishing there didn't seem to be any problems with the Salient. I bought 400 of these slugs and when I checked out a couple more boxes I found all the rims with these uneven bevels to varying degrees.
  7. Initially mine would not hold over ten rounds. Upon disassembly I discovered the top spring was kinking over to the front of the mag body. Took a couple of tries getting it working correctly but it seems fine now. Not a great first impression though.
  8. Shane at Thunderbeast Arms did the barrel work.
  9. Got mine a couple months ago to replace the 14.5" BCM I was using in 3-gun. It was heavier than I wanted, so I had the barrel turned down under the handguard to .650", and the crown was damaged out of the box so at the same time I had the barrel shortened and inch and recrowned/rethreaded. Added a JP LMOS carrier and adj. gas block. I like the way it handles, and it's more accurate than the chrome lined BCM ever was, particularly with Hornady 55 fmj's. I'm guessing you're going to Weld County multigun tomorrow.....I'm *trying* to get off work for that one. I'll be in the big red Cherokee.
  10. And Brownells......hell I walked outside this morning and tripped over one, they're everywhere!
  11. Cheaper Than Dirt had 60's as of yesterday if anybody's looking.....
  12. I just checked out my MTAC in broad daylight....and the illumination on 10 is all but unnoticeable. Before I even checked, I installed a new battery of known vintage. I have not mounted it and may not now. I'm just not sure how important the illumination would be in different situations....and couldn't know unless I mounted it up and tried it, which would likely negate my being able to return it. I sent an email to Burris to ask if there is an adjustment they could make to the electronics in house at their Greeley location as I'm in easy driving distance. I'll report back on their response.
  13. Just picked up an MTAC for either my 3-gun rifle or my 6.8. It's dark outside so I'll have to check the reticle illumination tomorrow before I mount her up. I'm afraid I may be spoiled by the Accupoint but we'll see. Anyway.....did anybody notice that the objective lens is recessed close to 1 1/2" from the front of the tube.......weird. Nice for protecting it from brake blast, not so fun from a cleaning standpoint.
  14. That was my first thought....."you sure it isn't a rimfire??" If it's indeed a 223/5.56, buy it as that's an unbelievable deal. S&W makes a decent AR and the 8 twist will shoot any normal weight bullet short of possibly the 90 gr. giants.
  15. That makes perfect sense Mark...also with so little movement from a locked down bench position, a bump fire would be extremely unlikely. See ya' at a CO 3-gun match sometime I hope! You ever come up to the Weld County matches?
  16. Yeah cas, CCI makes the #41 for the 5.56. I used to use them in my 17 Predator shooting 30 gr. bullets at 4100+ fps. That primer would resist cratering with hot hunting loads better than any other primer I tried, including the 7 1/2.
  17. Thanks Kurt and everybody else. I'm quite certain it wasn't a bump fire. I agree that the quicker moving LMOS carrier is contributing. My two shots almost sounded like one. I would think that a Ti firing pin ought to eliminate this gremlin, so that's what I'll try.
  18. A while back I was sighting in my 3-gun AR from the bench, and my rifle doubled once. I didn't think too much about it at the time, other than a bit of surprise that it happened with my Wilson TTU trigger which disappointed me a bit. When I got home I checked out the trigger for debris (it seemed to be fine), cleaned it up, and have had no more issues. It just occurred to me from hearing it mentioned on here that I may have experienced a slam fire rather than a trigger malf......and wondered how a person could actually tell the difference. My rifle is a 17" with rifle gas, JP LMOS carrier, JP buffer spring, and standard carbine buffer. I use Federal 205's which I do realize are not a tough primer. Do you rifle guru's think it would be wise to go to a lighter firing pin for reduced inertia, or heavier cupped primers? Or was it really a 'slam fire'?
  19. thread drift; I need to see a video of a 800+ yard prairie dog shot... I was thinkin' the same thing. It's not unheard of. Ever read "The Varmint Hunter" mag? I've taken them at 600 with a 17 Mach IV, but it takes a big dose of luck and lots of cooperation from mother nature!
  20. Not only a stick powder, but rather large sticks at that. I can't imagine getting satisfactory results out of the Dillon measure with it no matter what you do.
  21. Any updates on this guys? My jug of Benchmark is getting a little light and although it works wonderfully well for me I may try something different....
  22. Okay I just schooled myself on the A5 stock and I see that it uses a proprietary "midlength" buffer, so you'd either have to remove weights from it like Suprdave said or run a standard carbine buffer with a spacer to equal the length of the Vltor A5 buffer.
  23. You can't use your rifle buffer in a carbine length receiver extension, which I assume the Vltor stock uses. But a standard carbine buffer weighs the same as the JP rifle buffer...so there ya go!
  24. Well......after receiving my 3G1 upper, I installed a JP gas block, low mass carrier, and JP spring. In putting it back together I checked out the crown and noticed a sizeable ding in it that would need to be addressed, so I didn't bother to shoot it. I still thought the thing felt heavier than I like, so I went ahead and had the barrel turned down to .650" under the handguard, and had it shortened to 17" as well since the crown needed work anyway......and just for the fun of it. What information I could uncover said that the 17" rifle gas should work fine, and it sure handles nice. Like a moron I forgot to weigh the barrel before and after the weight loss program, but they are chunky at .875" under the handguard, and reducing the diameter by .225" really changes the handling characteristics. It feels much quicker to me now.....and should be perfect for my needs, now I need some time to wring it out.
