  1. Okay, shipment received from Natchez. It's all headstamped "FC 10". I'm not overly concerned about it, and who the heck knows if it's really inferior to the LC brass. For my uses it'll be fine with the mild loads I will be using. Just a heads up for you fellahs.
  2. As long as your velocities are in line, don't sweat a little primer flattening. Other things can cause that besides excessive pressure.
  3. Ramshot Big Game is very good in that regard according to my data, I'd expect the others to do good as well. Unusual for ball powders, and a nice characteristic...
  4. See post...RIP chronograph I will try some WIN primers tomorrow Jim Same brass prep and tooling settings? Flat primers can be caused by sloppy headspace as well, the pressure may be okay but the primer gets flattened as it gets backed out of the primer pocket on firing then re-seated by the case getting slammed back against the bolt face.
  5. I'll post back when it arrives. Fingers crossed.
  6. Natchez has new LC brass on sale for $119.95 a thou. I just ordered 2k, we'll see what I get. The pictured headstamp shows "LC 09". Natchez LC brass
  7. I shot in it that year, finished 7th overall in my 6th pistol match ever. Talked to Lenny Magill after and he never produced any video of that event. Shot in the '87 match also, got put in the Super Squad, and tanked so bad due to the pressure and being surrounded by legends, it was pathetic
  8. Nope, using the carbide version with no lube...
  9. After wearing my arm out processing brass today, a thought occurred to me. Adjusting the die per the instructions resulted in the brass being sized too early in the stroke, and it took a lot of effort. I adjusted the die upward until the cases were *just* pushed clear of the sizing ring at the top of the stroke. This puts the ram/linkage at it's maximum mechanical advantage as the die is sizing the 'glock bulge', decreasing the sizing effort *dramatically*, to probably 30% of what it was prior. My apologies if this is common knowledge....I wish this particular light bulb would have come on about 800 cases ago.
  10. That long? I assembled a couple last night with the Precision 185 at that length and they would not even fit into the mag of my XDm.
  11. I shot some in my M2 a few days ago and it was in the 30's here in Cheyenne. And it had a TLR-1 mounted on it too. I wonder if they vary quite a bit lot to lot....
  12. That's weird Mark, both my Salient Benelli and my stock 14" M2 cycle the B&P slugs....
  13. Brownells has the 14 3/8" LOP Comfortech leftie pad in stock for $97 and change if you happen to get the dealer discount. If you want to sell your current one let me know, I'm looking for one... Dan
  14. After researching the niner carbines, I decided on a factory Colt 6450 that I found for $1100 brand new. So far, it has been perfect with the supplied 32 round Colt mags and it's a hoot to shoot. One oddity is that it has the large trigger group pins.....I didn't notice that until I tried to stick a Wilson in it. I haven't really wrung it out for accuracy but informally it surely seems very good, and it's really light with it's skinny 16" barrel. On the down side to some may be the old style carry handle upper, but I like it for what it is. I haven't *really* figured out what it's for yet other than a range toy, but I do like it. I may run it in a 3-gun match one time if they will let me. Dan
  15. Might be workable/preferable to just use your weak hand to swipe off the safety.....haven't tried it but just a thought?
  16. He means have the hammer follow the bolt home, by pulling the trigger again before it's fully back in battery. I can make my stock M2 do that if I try to get my splits below about .14-.15. Haven't tried it yet with my Salient M2. Mind you.....this is just banging away at the berm, not actually placing my shots accurately.
  17. You're a little low on the RPM, a bullet running 3000 fps in a 9 twist is actually spinning 4000 revolutions per 'second', or 240,000 rpm. It's a wonder any of them can hold together! Straying off topic but my 17 Predator coyote rifle runs a 30 grain bullet at 4100 fps in a 9 twist. That's 328,000 rpm!! Just FYI, an easy formula is velocity x 720 / twist = rpm.
