  1. Are these results not valid/adequate? http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96979
  2. I've sent EM's to JP but with they might have gotten lost in the rush that's going on right now. Does anyone know if the XL tube only is offered to replace the rifle length tube w/o changing the barrel nut? Would like to save some $$ and not have to disturb the barrel as well.
  3. To the OP's original question, I've only shot in two idpa multi gun matches put on by a local club. The first time was because at that time it was the only game around, the second was just to confirm or deny how much of a "yawner" and how restrictive the first match was compared to regular 3G. I have found "run & gun" to be hands down more fun to participate in than "peek & shoot". Not trying to get into a training vs competition thing here...
  4. Is anyone running one of these on an M1 with a lightened bolt? I've been using the reducer alone and wondered if the combination of the lightening the bolt and running the reducer would cause function problems...
  5. Ours were built to toss clays or charcoal bbq briquets. Work great
  6. If the reasons to change were in fact to make them easier to see for tv, why not keep the IPSC style/shapes and red the A/B zones and black the rest. Too simple???
  7. It's a regular match held on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
  8. This was the solution I came up with as well. Bought a 5.25 in 9mm first, then found a great deal on a xdm in 40. Both got great identical trigger replacements, one frame got a mag well and a Ti guide rod. Now I can switch back and forth between the two guns depending what I want to shoot (idpa, USPSA or 3G) and still stay within the rules and make major when needed.
  9. Danish You're going to love they way the M2 runs over the 1100 AND the ability to adjust the drop & cant in the stock vs the 1100.
  10. Just like in the business world: 1. Delegate - Don't try to do it all yourself 2. Trust, but confirm - Avoids surprises 3. Praise in public, question in private - Makes it easier to get good help 4. Consider giving the guy that always complains the responsibility to solve the problem - He'll either take care of it, or stop complaining about it...
  11. Looks like the XdM will be stationed in the safe or up for sale. I followed the recommendations recieved here and the additions to the STI mags allow me 23 reloadable just like the XdM. I used STI 140 tubes, Grams guts, SS spacers and SNL bases. Thanks again for the help!
  12. I've been using 1oz. slugs cast from "pure" lead out of the Lee 1 oz. mold and get very good results. Our target distances are very close to yours but we do shoot out to 100 with some regularity at full size IPSC targets. This is a very ecnomical load that I can produce for way less than even bird shot rounds because I have to purchase the shot vs. casting the slugs. I don't have the load data here, but would be happy to share. Mike
  13. Thank you all for the replies, just the info I was looking for. I see a new STI in the near future!!!
  14. I'm currently running an XdM in 9mm with aftermarket springs, followers & extensions in the mags and they will hold up to 23 reloadable. While this gun runs great, I am considering a 2011 in 9mm for Tactical Div. in 3G and was curious how much mag capacity I will have to give up to make the switch. I apologize if this is a worn out topic but my searchs haven't come up with any good info from someone in the know. Thanks in advance for your help
  15. Good information Mark The distributor for Frontier Armory is only an hour from me and I've been thinking of picking a couple stripped lowers just to have on hand for future builds/spares. The prices are so low that it would be hard to go wrong unless the potential for safety issues is very high.
  16. Follow up to my earlier post re: SO sticker I made a couple calls and the issue was cleared up by my area rep. with no problems and I received my SO designation from IDPA. Thanks for the heads-up! Mike
  17. I've only been shooting 3G for two years but in that time I've witnessed 3 kabooms that destroyed the lowers. I have seen the pressure tests on some of the polymer lowers that demonstrate their abilities to withstand crush pressure but have not seen any showing outward pressure resistance. After watching the kabooms and no one seriously hurt one can only hope that they're at least that strong all the time and not just enough for a plinker...
  18. I'm still relatively new to 3G and was shooting well in last weekend's match right up to the last COF. It was a group of 18 different sized steel targets hanging from 75-200 yds out AND at different heights (can you see where this is going). Instead of taking my time to verify that all the swingers were moving after being hit and waiting for the RO's "If you are through unload and show me clear" command I proudly rolled to my side and dropped the mag and racked the bolt open after I thought that I had just cleared the entire stage. At that point he asked "IF you are through" and something in his voice got me thinking and sure enough there were 3 targets that were at a lower plane than the others and I just blown right over in my hast to get done. I think it might have been a toss up on the penalties for 3 FTE's vs the time it took me to get my stuff back together and engage the last three targets but I did and lesson learned... Kinda like the two Bulls, the young one that wanted to run down the hill and "visit" some of the cows vs. the old bull that was just going to walk down the hill and "visit" them ALL
  19. ^^^ Can't make that call for you, but I've never heard anything but good reviews about them or any of the other XD smiths known on here. I didn't have the $$$ to buy a package, so I had to do it a little at a time on my own on the 5.25 that I already owned. Personally if I had all the funds for a $1750.00 - $2000.00 package deal I would have just waited a little longer and bought the STI exactly how I wanted it, but that's just me.
  20. On my 5.25 9mm xdm Springer Precision: trigger bar, sear, springs, ext. grip safety and mag release Powder River: ejector Canyon Creek: 3/8" tungesten GR and mag extensions Wolfe: recoil springs kit Pistolgear: magwell for an xd (didn't like any that were available for xdm so I modded this one to fit)
  21. Looks like it could be a great fit for 3G if the mag capacity could be increased to 22-23 rounds.
  22. Bentsight

    P18 9mm?

Thanks for the heads up, but I'm trying to stay away from an LDA model
  23. Nice touch with the weather station posting! What direction from town is the range and what direction do the shooting bays face? Thanks
