  1. Going to dabble with shooting Limited Minor due to some hand issues. I shot the Space City Challenge using JHP bullets and was impressed at how they handled the steel targets. I have been told that the difference in accuracy between the two is barely noticeable, so the question is what is your personal experience using JHP and RN bullets?
  2. At 0630 this morning it was 20°. F with a wind chill of 12°. High of 39° during the day in Central LA
  3. Agreed, I picked up a XL650 at a local match about 3 years ago for $100.00, with a case feeder attached. The press had been sitting up for awhile so I sent it back to Dillon and as Paul says basically got a new press back. You got to love Dillon
  4. I won't have time to get my Dillon's Caliber Conversion done before the match season kicks off so I am looking for match grade ammunition already loaded. I need 9mm Minor and I have looked at Precision Delta and Freedom Munitions. Am I missing any other manufactures of quality match grade ammo?
  5. I have planned to go this route also as it seems to offer the quickest change out. Is the OAL the only adjustment that needs to be made when swapping out toolheads?
  6. Steve, I was very fortunate in that the multi focal lens were perfect for me. I fortunately was not totally dependent on vision correction lens as I could get up in the morning and function perfectly without glasses or contacts as long as I did not put hem on initially. I can read fairly small print without the aid of glasses and I primarily do computer and financial work in my job, however, when working with small parts or in dim light I find it works best to have reading glasses on. I do not have a problem with sight/target acquisition and in my case I believe it was the best decision. I did have to come out of pocket for about $2,000.00 per lens
  7. I recently acquired a pair of 9mm 2011's and plan to shoot Limited Minor off and on. I have my press set up to load 40 right now. The questions is how much work is it to change back and forth between the two calibers if I purchase all of the necessary parts to do so. I figure having to change the shell plate is going to require re-setting the OAL when changing back and forth between calibers. Any other considerations that I may be overlooking? Thanks
  8. Let me offer you my personal experience. I wore contacts and glasses since I was a freshman in high school, roughly 43 years, so when I was told I had the beginnings of cataracts and that I would eventually have to have surgery I began researching this. When I found out that many times your vision could be corrected I was ecstatic. I waited until it became necessary in both eyes so I could have each eye corrected. Procedure is fairly simple and the recovery takes about 2 weeks. There are 2 different types of lenses available a mono focal and a multi focal lens. Most insurance policies will pay for the mono focal lens whereas the multi focal lens comes out of the patient's pocket (not always so check to see). Mono focal will correct your vision at a distance requiring reading glasses for up close. This may impact sight acquisition and target acquisition simultaneously. I opted for the multi focal lens as I felt it would be better all around for me since I shoot, golf and hunt. I have done perfectly fine since having the procedure and do not regret having has it one bit. My shooting and other activities have not been affected adversely since having it done. Do a search for cataract on the forum and you will see a number of posts. I read a number of posts by CocoBolo and even PM'd him several times with questions. here is the link http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=147704&hl=+cataract+surgery Good luck, Walter
  9. Talk to Jim Shanahan at Advanced Performance Shooting. He has done 3 STI grips for my different gun builds and I have been pleased every time with his work. He is a good guy to talk to and has a good understanding of what you want in a grip based upon those conversations. He does work on Glocks as well http://www.advancedperformanceshooting.com/
  10. Planning to shoot Limited Minor this coming year for a bit I plan on using 124 gr Precision Delta HP bullets, does anyone have any load data available from personal experience? Appreciate your time
  11. sig, here is my road to shooting USPSA - started with S&W M&P 40 Pro did the usual upgrades with the trigger and other small items, next moved to Tanfoglio Elite Limited which I sent to Jim Bodkin and told him to upgrade as needed for reliability and normal enhancements to shoot USPSA which he did. I shot the gun well and it performed as well as I could have asked. Opportunity presented itself and I had my first custom 2011 built to shoot Limited class and from there it was on. I picked up a stock STI Edge did some minor cosmetic upgrades, trigger upgrades and a few internals for a backup gun. I recently had a custom 2011 built in 9mm to shoot Limited minor and have had a pretty good run with it the first few matches. This week I ordered a Dawson Precision 2011 with the CRP and enhanced package. The just of this long story is this, sooner or later you will migrate to a 2011 platform and from personal experience the Tanfoglio has a limited parts chain making it a hard sell without taking a hit. Best of luck with whatever road you choose.
  12. Well, as I mentioned in my FB post a huge Thank You to anyone and everyone that worked so hard putting this match together. the stages were well thought of and offered the shooter multiple ways to run them, the RO staff were outstanding, keeping the squads moving and never having any backups on Saturday. The food and hospitality was as Texan as it could get. Had an awesome time
  13. Have not run any hollow points through it and probably won't. The rounds that I have run have run flawlessly (only about 150 so far)
  14. English comprehension a problem for you, eh
  15. DISCLAIMER - THIS IS NOT AN AKAI CUSTOM GUN - With that being said, when I started this build I sent some pictures of Shay's guns to Glenn and asked him if he could do something along these lines. What I failed to express to Glenn is that I did not want to copy Shay's work. I take full responsibility of the Akai copy. I have spoken to Shay personally, who is a good friend to myson and myself and he has accepted my apology and for that I am grateful. Glenn's work is nothing to be taken away from, he is a very meticulous builder and does absolutely great work. To those of us that have been fortunate enough to have a Lone Star Innovation gun I believe you will hear those same remarks And the first 2 mags out of the gun at 13 yards
  16. I picked this gun up on 9/4/14, on 9/5/14 I picked up a Polaris Ranger for deer season, on 9/9/14 I put my wife in the hospital for 10 days so time to get pics and post have been slim. Pictures will be coming because a proud father loves to post pictures of his children, right Trace , just may be a little while. Trace , I will catch up with you on FB
  17. I recently received my 9mm 2011 from Glenn at Lone Star Innovations, took it to the range yesterday and I have to say that a 9mm 2011 is pure sweetness. Gun tracks great with very little recoil, I am planning to shoot a few matches in Limited Minor just to see how much fun I can have
  18. I have 14 years of commercial bank operations, 24 years of law firm administration and I am currently doing office administration in a financial investment organization. I work with the least amount of stress I have ever had and some of the greatest people in the world. It is a shame it took me so long to find this job Happy - Happy - Happy
  19. Mine came from my oldest son being a 2002 graduate of Texas A&M - hence Aggieddad02. Use it anytime I create a user login on a forum
  20. Retrax folding bed cover. I have one on each of my last 3 trucks and put another one on my recent truck purchase. It allows full use of bed height without having to remove it from the truck. Watertight, I don't know if any are truly watertight but it does fine for my needs. I pack gear in it for road trips, attending matches, hunting and travel. Give them a look. Remember buy once, cry once when making your final decision
  21. It is already on my 2015 match schedule. An opportunity to shoot a great match with some of my best friends Win win
  22. My folding cart carries pretty much the same items that have been mentioned throughout the thread with the addition of a beach umbrella. Modified the cart so that I can open my beach umbrella at each stage for some shade. Here in Louisiana shade in 98+ degree heat can be a blessing.
  23. My Lone Star Innovations came with 1 mag. I had Glenn go ahead and prepare 5 more for me at that time to insure they all ran fine.
  24. When I was running my Elite Limiteds I loaded to 1.135 OAL without any problems at all. As someone mentioned the length is more driven by the mags than the gun. Good luck and enjoy
