    $4000 glock?

I'm pretty sure if you call Salient yourself, you can have it done for cheaper than that particular gun seller is advertising... I think between about $2100 and 2400 for the Tier I package on a Glock. There are some options that change the price up too... Basically on a Glock, your getting the trigger, frame stipple and modifications, slide mill work and refinish, and barrel TiN coated, plus the laser engraved SAI emblems... If you want them to install and TiN coat a bar-sto barrel for example its going to add cost...
  2. I've been burning up some 9x23 brass in my 38super gun... Same load, same everything, other than I'm using regular 9mm dies instead of 38super dies to load the ammo. Just to let you know, it runs really well in a 38 super chambered STI Grandmaster...
  3. I bought a M&P Shield in a 40sw used off a fellow shooter. Its grip is stippled, everything else is stock. I love that thing! I have a Glock 26 9mm that I like to shoot, but don't carry that often. If it was a Glock 27, I'd probably carry it as a backup on my body armor to my duty weapon which is a Glock 35, but I'm not a 9mm guy when it comes to carry. The M&P Shield is slim, and the optional flush magazine makes is very compact. Its good firepower in a small enough package, I can pocket or waist band carry. It definitely has an advantage in the size category. Another option you might also look into that I don't see a lot of people mention is the Walther PPS... That sucker is SLIM! It has interchangeable backstraps which isn't a big deal to me, but worth mentioning. They come in a 9mm or a 40w, and have 3 different length magazines to suit your carry situation.
  4. Personally, I'd go 260rem with a 20 or 22" barrel. But thats me. Push 140gr Berger Hybrids with IMR 8208 powder. I wouldn't bother with the 6.5 creedmore in a semi-auto, just me, I like the shoulder on the 260rem for feeding versus the benefit of the creedmore case not having to trim as much. The 243win and 6mm creedmores are pretty sweet when you have enough barrel to push a 105gr fast and with the proper powder combination, they shoot like a laser. I don't know if you can tune a gas gun to run 4350 powder with a 27" barrel though? I haven't seen it done. I think you'd loose any advantage you would have had before trying to confine one to an AR-10 platform. The 308 has been doing it for years. Just not as flat or fast as the 260. I've been running 175 and 178gr BTHP's with IMR4064, and finally changing over to Berger 155's and 185's using Varget and 8208. I recommend a 22 or 24" barrel if you go that route. The 6.5grendel which blairmk mentioned is a great little cartridge, but it won't push as far or fast as a 260rem. You can build one pretty cheap, just get a barrel and a 7.62x39 AR bolt, a 6.5 magazine and your in the game. The downside is your pushing a 123gr Amax under 2600fps and it takes 24" barrel to even get that, where you can push the same bullet from a 260rem from a 22" barrel almost 3000fps. That 20 or so grains of extra case capacity in the 260rem makes a considerable difference.
  5. What do you want to shoot with it? Any specific sport or game? Or just something in general? If your already hand loading that's a big plus. Having an idea of what you want to do with it can help selection. My answer when in question just get both...
  6. I ordered two 8 pound kegs of XMR 4064 online from Grafs... $200 an 8 pound keg is the normal price... Midway had them for 183...but they weren't in stock. Factor in hazmat... I don't see where $200 an 8 pound keg local is any more expensive than 200 online. At least you get in then and there...
  7. VP... My company manufactures API 650 internal/external floating roof tank seals If your tired of that other big three letter company who starts with an H, give me a call... Even if they are spec'd in, we can still make your seal.... My seal is cheaper per foot, better all around, stronger, lasts longer, is way more adaptable. Oh and we use the higher grade stainless, that you assume your already getting with them, but your really not. Turn around about 3 weeks after an order is placed, shoot me a PM...
  8. No, because someone will mistaken you for dressing as a pirate. Then other people will show up dressed as pirates. Next thing you know, there will be 20 Jack Sparrows standing around pretending to be drunk, and 50 pirates running around in groups demanding you surrender your "booty." Just ask anyone who goes to Ren fest, or Comic Con. Pirates are like the herpes of the fantasy world, once you get them, they never go away...
  9. Oh man, I totally forgot about this topic... Guess I'll post my two.. SVI IMM Open with 9Major and 38super barrels STI Grandmaster 38super Separate picture, the STI Steelmaster I just traded last wednesday to get my STI Grandmaster. That little steelmaster been to a whole bunch of matches with me, and I'll miss it, but it went to a very good home.
  10. Oh man, I'm really really bad about this.... Having the caffeine shakes really sucks bad when your trying to shoot a stage. Stimulants are good as long as you know how much you need. The right amount increases your alertness and ability to focus. Your speed increases, and your scores are better. But to much, and your hands get shaky, its hard to keep your heart rate down, and your fine motor dexterity goes to crap. Start yanking the trigger, and the darn dot won't stay still. I found the MOST important thing is don't just have an energy drink on an empty stomach. You need something, other than sugary breakfast foods, in your system, with the energy drink. Sausage, Egg, and some kind of whole wheat product. I don't know, maybe it slows the absorption or something, but a full throttle on an empty stomach first thing in the morning ruins my first two stages. A good breakfast, then a full throttle and you have jedi mind powers... Also I always shoot better when I smoke a cigar.... which is a stimulant, seriously, I've proven it to myself time and time again... maybe its cause I'm more relaxed, but I'll light up a Backwoods brand honey berry stogie, and set it aside before I step up to the firing line. My energy drink, and breakfast still mixing in my stomach... Those are my best match days...
  11. LUKE, JOIN THE DARK SIDE LUKE! (Starwars reference for those of you too young to know...) If I had to do it all over again, knowing what I know now. I would have started on a 2011 platform open gun, never looked back... I have to admit, since I went open, I've gotten faster and more accurate in all my other divisions and shooting sports.
  12. Just my experience, it takes more HS-6 to meet power factor than Autocomp. 7.6~7.8gr of Autocomp got me to 168~169pf in my IMM Open, where as I had to go to about 8.4~8.6 with HS-6, and move the bullet way out to make room for the powder. But according to the VV manual, they have the same burn rate.
  13. If I had the case capacity of a 30-06 with a 1 in 10 twist barrel, I wouldn't hesitate just going straight to the berger 230gr match hybrids. I wouldn't bother trying to push them hard for velocity, just tune the load for accuracy. They have such a high BC, even at weak 2500fps start you'll be supersonic to 1375 yards at sea level.... push it to 2650 and your looking about 1500 yards.
  14. STI Grandmaster (Factory Stock Configuration 2014 model with Recoilmaster) Atmospheric: 74deg F, 66% Hum, 29.88 in, 0 Alt 124gr Montana Gold JHP 9.6gr vv 3n38 S&B Sm. Pst. Starline Supercomp Brass 1.235" COAL 10rd Velocity String: 1349 1366 1345 1342 1371 1351 1362 1349 1340 1350 Avg: 1352fps SD: 10.38 ES: 31 PF = 167 IMHO, needs a hair more gas to the comp, but a very pleasant light feeling load. Groups very nice... aim once, pull the trigger twice, comes right back to same spot the second shot... Dot rides to the top of the glass and comes back.
  15. My results from the following data: 74deg F, 66% Hum, 29.88 in, 0 Alt 180gr Xtreme Plated RNFP 4.7gr vv N320 Fed. Sm. Pst. R-P Case 1.135" COAL Averages from 10 shot strings over CED Chronograph which has proven fairly accurate. Glock 24 (KKM Barrel) 888fps 159PF Glock 35 834fps 150PF Glock 22 819.6fps 147PF S&W M&P Shield 749fps 134PF Basically, even in my 6" gun, it didn't meet major. I'd recommend a sold 930fps velocity for a 168ish PF or more. Probably start around 5.0gr and work up, pending barrel length and gun.
  16. Enhanced revolver sub-division.. 357mag, 155pf, moonclips.... Think maybe I'll send my 686 off to have the cylinder gun for moon clips. 8.2.5.2 Enhanced Revolver handguns permitted for use must be: 8.2.5.2.1 Any revolver that uses .357 magnum or larger cartridges with rimmed or rimless cases.
  17. I got my brand new Grandmaster day before yesterday. Honestly, I didn't expect it to be as awesome as it is. It looks so plain, and you read 3.5 pound trigger, no fancy ports, you think its not going to be all that great. Dude the gun runs flat. The slide to frame fit is as tight and smooth as my SVI, which I didn't expect at all. I didn't put it on a scale but the trigger feels like an honest clean 2.5 pounder, even though spec says its 3.5. The travel is short, and clean break with no overtravel. Its good enough I can slap it and not pull shots. The gun literally ran right out of the box, no lube, no running, no nothing, it ran 100 rounds of 38 super comp I had loaded without a single hiccup. Seriously... NO lube, right out of the box.... Came with a factory 25 yard group, all holes touching. The gun was already sighted in. I was thinking man, I'm going to have to get a slide racker on it, change the mount, and do some major updating... Maybe later, the gun runs, and runs good, all that other stuff just kinda seems negligibly important now... I can see how aesthetically its reached its obsolescence. I seriously want one of the new DVC's, but I totally underestimated the Grandmaster. Now I'm actually sad to see it go, but darn glad I got one.
  18. I bought a spring weight test kit from Dillon. It has a little jig and a scale. Honestly, its more hassle than its worth. There is an art to getting an accurate reading... IMHO, just buy and keep stock of new springs in their marked packages around.... they are cheap enough, and you will always eventually use them. Just throw the old one's away...
  19. Hyperfire has my vote... I like it better than the factory JP, CMC, and every other trigger I've ever felt or owned...
  20. Hahaha guess no one else caught the sarcasm in the original post. I'm pretty sure he realizes its a scam... that s pretty funny though....
  21. Hard work always supersedes natural talent...
  22. So will it just be a 155 major for moon clips, or will it be specific to 45 caliber. I'm wondering if it would be worth while to get my 686 mooned...
  23. Six mag pouches on my production belt. 7 mags total... Here's why.... its always better to have more and not need, than not have enough. I strategize reloads, usually never have more than 3 or 4 on a stage, but sometimes have had five. I don't run the gun dry, I reload when its the most efficient opportunity. Moving between arrays mainly. So if I only use 4 mags, why would I need another 3.... well that bad run on the texas star thru off my count, and I needed another.... or that malfunction happened twice during a stage...
  24. Seems like every "good" shooter out there is a C shooter. Guys who are legitimately good at shooting, don't practice, and shoot matches basically end up a high C.
