  1. I think he meant the shooter could be one of 3 things. In the match or DQ'ed or Not for score. Would it then show the shooter's info as far as time, points, etc. but award them 0 points and put them at the bottom of the list above the DQs?
  2. Our gun club that sponsors the USPSA matches is a club that you have to be invited to join and have 3 club members vouch for your gun handling and safety before you can petition to join. At the same time, the club member roster is not available for someone to meet members. They are encouraged to come out on Sat. morning when the club has matches in the various disciplines and is open the public. This means that at times the people watching are interested in USPSA and other times just to meet shooters who might be club members. As the MD, I try to talk to anyone that is watching and let them know they are welcome, to keep on the eye and ear protection and to talk to shooters in the peanut gallery but not the guy holding the blue timer or getting ready to shoot. Then as things have gotten moving I (or one of the other regulars) will make sure they are getting to see what they want and ask questions if they have not already. Like said above, if we were doing anything I would not want seen then we would be doing wrong.
  3. OP, could not tell from what you wrote- are you the RM (or as is often the case at locals the MD/RM)? If not, it is not only a very good idea but also by the letter of the rules to notify the RM as soon as you can. I am that person and have asked our ROs to send someone to get tell me right away- whether a "regular" shooter, a new shooter, the shooter is questioning the call or they understand. Also, this lets the RO tell the shooter what they did and then I can explain in more detail, etc. When I am ROing, I hand off the timer to spend a bit longer talking to the shooter who DQ'ed.
  4. Exactly Jim, even EZ Winscore did not automatically upload my activity file. Back before Practiscore we did not get to post the results until I had gone to lunch with everyone, gone home and done my part. Then I would wait a day or 2 until everyone could check the scores in case of issues- in particular with Walkons. Updating the match scores is/was no big deal, changing the classifier scores after the fact is a pain. Thus the wait. I do NOT want to ever have USPSA going to my preliminary scores that are posted to Practiscore and pull our activity fee or classifier scores. The shooters now expect me to have the scores up right away and understand that there may be slight changes after posting- but it lets them rub it in on the range and at lunch when they beat someone. I cannot undo that expectation!
  5. And the rest of us will be using alternate routes to get around Daytona and Orlando!
  6. It does matter at times. I think I was on a phone last time I had the issue and found that I always go the Open not matter which division I clicked on. Turned out I just had to scroll down and the others were below the Open ones.
  7. Still running 1.2.12 at ours Bill. I don't mix them and have not had time to update, besides I was going to be gone last match and wanted as little change or problems as possible while gone. Just a note, the 3 gun matches seem to be running big matches (8 stages, 200+ shooters) with no problems but no idea what version they have been running.
  8. I have been hoping/asking for the return of the Area 6 Multigun match- Thank you USA and Shannon Smith for doing it! I am sure it was a bit of a leap to take on the match and you all did a great job. I will be back next year, even if it is still in June Humidity kicked my butt on Sat. though! The match was great, especially considering it was a late addition to the calendar. I look forward to seeing how it is next year. And thanks to the sponsors for signing on as well. The match ran great, even with our huge 15 person squad (6) we were ahead or on schedule the whole time. The ROs were great and I enjoyed the USPSA style stages as a change to the normal 3 gun stages. Many of the stages really made you hit your spots if you were going to pull it off and you could see the time spent in laying them out. Stage 6 was our first and my worst stage- last 5 or so walkthroughs with a changed plan I did not realize I was taking 1 target 2 times and not engaging 1. I shot my plan (unfortunately)! Really enjoyed shooting with Squad 6. Having the Open, Heavy Tac and Tac winners on the squad along with a number of other top finishers (as in 2, 3, etc) was quite humbling and educational! Great bunch of shooters. And now off to work on shooting and loading a shotgun- 15th overall on rifle/pistol stage, not so much when a shotgun is added!
  9. That sucks Jimmy! I would hope out of a group of shooters all would have done it right and left their info
  10. Great match, thanks to Charles and the whole RM, RO, setup and stats crew. I shot my worst at this match since I started playing the game a few years ago, but still ended up with $200 cert for X-treme bullets- which I just happen to use! The golf carts are a pain and added expense, but Charles uses the whole of Clinton House to make for a great match (if this and 3GN SE regional are any indication!) so they are a necessary evil. Yeah, those triangles were a surprise. We looked over the stages the day before, got ranges, etc. but did not notice the triangles vs circles on the other plate racks. I was first in our squad and it was not until I got to that rack that I realized what I was looking at. Then the triangles did not completely disappear when hit so they just looking like slightly smaller triangles- wasted 8 or 10 shots on the 4 I had down already but thought they were still up. That was small compared to my own failings though and I learned from it, go prone if you can- those make flashers feel like barn doors Thanks to the sponsors! Of course Freedom Munitions and Xtreme Bullets jump to mind the most with the Ma Duece and huge support on the prize table. Was also great to get to talk to the VP about the sport, how much their heavy sponsorship has meant and how many people I have seen change over to using their ammo and bullets in both 3 gun and USPSA. Adams Arms- thanks for the sub-gun on the stage and War Sport, really enjoyed shooting your SBR- that is a great shooting gun and I know those 2 that won the ammo were plenty happy! Spectre Targets of course had steel all over the place. Take a look at the website and match book and you can see there are a lot of sponsors- thanks to a number of others I saw on the prize table (the guns were long gone before I was in there though ) Lancer, Gatorz, Invictus (I love their shell holders), Brownells, NRA, AP Custom, Italian Gun Grease and many others. Thank them!
  11. Good reason for them(by them I mean empty chamber starts) in 3 gun. First time I was able to look down the muzzle of a Glock twice and it spun to the ground gave me 2 thoughts. 1, I see why some use none in the chamber if the pistol is not the first gun used and 2, holster with retention in 3 gun just may be a great idea! In this case the shooter had his regular non-retention holster tightened down a lot but as he brought the muzzle of his shotgun up/butt down to clear a wall the soft recoil pad grabbed the rear sight of the Glock and when he re-mounted the shotgun on the other side of the wall the pistol went flipping.
  12. Yeah, at first I was thinking they were new because Stage 1 Am was so different online vs on the ground. Then I saw the others.
  13. Oh yeah, LOVE Strelok + Cheap and effective, especially for getting on target when you start and then for reminding yourself what you should be seeing on each target in a match.
  14. I will be shooting A6 as well. Remember, Shannon said out to 400yds- how many at that range? Most likely not many. Most major matches have the majority of long shots at 300 and under and 55grn works fine. If it is accurate in your rifle. That takes time and a range that you can shoot out that far. Then you have to ask yourself if the amount of practice/testing time you have is worth spending a lot of it at 400yds or better to spend that limited time moving and shooting from odd positions from 100 out to 300. That said, don't overlook knowing your holds and practicing from 3 to 100yds either. Amazing how many people don't know their hold over for a 10yd shot. Not a big deal on the many "burn em down" stages we all love and see where you are keeping 5 to 6 pieces of brass in the air at a time. Throw a 1/2 sized target or 2 with half covered by hard cover or no shoot and see the mikes add up since people don't know where to hold and only practice long distance.
  15. I posted the link a few messages above to read it, the email just directed you to the page. Read the page and it will tell you that we will receive an email soon with a hard price on the carts and a link to sign up for them pretty soon.
  16. You should have received an email last night or today, there is an update posted on the tarheel page http://tarheel3gun.com/freedom-munitions-memorial-multi-gun-match-2/ that gives some more info on the match, including about carts.
  17. No they are not. And it looks like they will be using all of the different areas (which is good as far as a fun match goes) so a cart or ATV will be needed.
  18. I use the tab on the Club Support page to pull up the classifiers that have been shot at our club and the other 2 closest that many of the shooters use to help pick ones that have not been used in awhile. Then go with trying to have different types based on your layout. You want to have 6 stages, so if you only have 5 bays like we do you have to pick 2 that can share a bay. Also, some are just more prone to be zero'ed and you don't want to have more than 1 or 2 of those since anyone new or trying to get an initial classification in a new division need at least 4 to count. Some of those are the long range, par time, multi string stages- they are killers.
  19. A lot of these 13-?? are really lacking when it comes to setup notes compared to the other classifiers.
  20. You can search here or any forum and get a ton of varying opinions on shooting lead and/or plated bullets from a stock Glock barrel. I will leave that one alone as I shoot my major loads from a BarSto barrel. As far as OAL- 1.135 is max. You "might" get away with slightly more if you are only loading 10 rounds in a mag like L10 or Production but try and go any more and the rounds will stick in the mag and lead to lots of clicks. I once tried "just a bit more" and had it happen all through a match until I realized it and loaded only 10 rounds for the rest.
  21. Have wondered the same thing about race holster locks vs a hood, etc. Seems to be contradictory for sure.
  22. Things change, even in the service! Don't know it for sure, but last I heard was that the AMU shooters are having to pay their own match fees and some other things to be able to keep the cash payouts and maybe even prize pick ups. May have been the same in years past, but there really was nothing out there paying like 3 gun is these days or prize tables like we are seeing. Not to mention, which sport has more to offer as far as new gear, techniques and practices for use in training our soldiers? Granted it is not tactical, etc. but there has been a lot of cross over between 3 gun and military.
  23. That is interesting: Mine is a Glock but has a fitted Barsto barrel. I plan to do a bit with the temps soon. My major load is also 5.1grn WSF, OAL 1.135, 957fps, 172PF. That was at 75 degrees. bumped it up for a major match last year: 5.3grn was 985fps, 177PF at 50 degrees on the match chrono. Noticeably more recoil.
  24. Unless you have long distances for your steel, you might want to consider more USP (small poppers) and less Pepper Poppers. You want a few of hte large ones for activators and a few classifiers, but in general the smaller ones are what we end up using time and again. In fact we are having most of ours cut down right now.
