  1. For Sale.....?????? DMW are hard to find. Seems they are always on backorder. DaG Darren: go to http://davesmetalworks.com/ben12.htm. I think they are in stock. See you tomorrow night.
  2. I have a Salient installed Arrendondo and a self installed DMW. Both are great. I had a Nordic round button, but it broke off, requiring replacement of the whole catch thingamajig.
  3. I can't speak for all, but the AR mag holder in my picture had a TekLok on it and the holes lined up well. No every position would work, but straight up, and sightly canted left/right would. Preed10: what all did you have to order? You have exactly the rig I need. so if you are 34" did you order a 36"? Also, I didnt see the discount on the Safariland site. do you need a code?
  4. This is exactly what I do. worked well at Rockcastle for me. However, ... This makes a lot of sense IF you don't have to go back and forth between aiming and not aiming on a particular stage, e.g the Rockcastle courses of fire. Like both of these guys, I carry a full choke but have never used it. I should have at Area 6 Multi-gun last year. I really ought to pattern that thing someday.
  5. what we need is a VTAC barricade in the basement and an airsoft AR.
  6. I have been shooting 3 gun for several years. My first real experience with rifle shooting was 3 Gun, unlike most good shoters who started in NRA or other disciplines. My close game is pretty good. My far game is erratic. Lately, it is getting worse and that impairs confidence. I am having a hard time getting into a stable position and difficulty breaking shots when coditions are not perfect. My goal is to get better at 3 Gun with a scoped AR. I'll shoot irons if that is necessary or helpful to get better with optics, but I don't have much interest there with 56 year eyes. Eventually, I will probably take a course, but I want to start with some good literature and DVDs. What do you all recommend? Courses, instructors, books, tapes, etc?
  7. I ran my M-2 Salient Benelli with Remington STS and a light modified choke through out the Pro match with no problems. I though about changing chokes several times but did not. I only had a few make up shots and those were my fault. I thought those post & plate shotgun targets were great. Who makes them? (I know that any competent welder could, but I am not one). I liked the way the plates fit exactly on the stands. Also, a hit on the post was unlikely to knock the plate off, unlike many clay bird holders. Those were made to require a good hit, not just a couple of grains of #9. The only problem was that I had to slow down to verify the plate fell, since they could move some w/o falling. I cannot believe anyone would not set the plate flush on the base. That ain't right!
  8. I know this has been discussed, but can someone advise as to the likely distances on the long rifle shots - or point me to the prior posts. For Pro division. thanx.
  9. NICE CAMERA WORK! hOW DID YOU GET THE RETICLE IN THE PIC?
  10. Has anyone put together a page comparing life size reitcles at 1x and 4x side by side? including that new Weaver 1-5 would be great. I am really interested in hearing more about that.
  11. Consider a Glock 35 (.40 cal). You can easily make major, or shoot light loads if there no major/minor distinction. 40 minor in a Glock 35 si very soft. you are good to go in USPSA Production and SSP in IDPA (I think). A magwell will be an issue outside 3 Gun.
  12. Sawed-off stockless double barreled shortgun. The Rebel (Johnny Yuma). I actually had a toy one way back then in 1960. Now I have a Remington Modular Combat Shotgun (AOW). Not double barreled though. I'm also in the market for the BFG 9000 from Doom.
  13. Well, I think we're talking about perceived recoil. so that will involve the physics of the gun, the way it is mounted, how it fits the shooter PLUS some psychic/subjective factors in the shooters head. I shot an 1187 for years, loaded down with all manner of shells and stuff. I now shoot a Benelli with comforttec stock and a 2 shot side saddle only. Much lighter, no doubt about that. very little if any extra perceived recoil. However, the Benelli cost more, looks better, and feels better, so some of it may be in my head.
  14. I will replace with Arrendondo. I like NC stuff but not too keen on the round disk button. Sticks out too far, or at least mine did.
  15. Thanks Perry! Found it. I am def not canniblizing my other shotgun. Then I would have 2 that don't work.
  16. The carrier latch on my nearly new Benelli M2 broke. No, I was not trying to tweak it to allow easier loading - although I have thought about doing that. However, I never took it apart. The piece that protrudes from the reciever - the part you push to release the carrier and the part you drill and tap to add a bigger button - broke off at the point inside the receiver where it joins the latch. Is this a common problem? Mine was drilled and tapped to add a Nordic Components extended button. It seems almost certain this contributed to the issue since the button extended from the receiver and put at least some sideways leverage on the piece. However, it may be the extension was not welded/glued very well in the first place. Main question is where can I get a replacement part? Brownells carries them, but is out and apparently has been out for some time. Who else carries Benelli small parts? Is anybody hoarding these parts that will let one go for a shooter in need?
  17. Also, 3rd Sun (technically the 4th this month on May 22) is 3 gun and 4th Sat is steel challenge, all at ORSA in Oak Ridge, TN. All matches well set up and run, esp for local matches. all start at 10:00 am. Hope you can make to a few. pm me or email at jwaters@lrwlaw.com if you have any questions.
  18. I am looking for a reasonable 1X red dot scope with 10 minute dot to use for steel challenge in the rimfire rifle division. I want it to hold a zero but no need to be battle worthy or useful out to long distance.
  19. Well, I've learned something. I thought it was just me and MY starlight that had latch issues.
  20. Fiocchi introduced tracer shotshells at the 2011 Shot show. suppposedly the heat for clays shooting training. Anybody try them? Seems like they could provide good feed back to get a shotgun fitted for 3 gun.
  21. Not in order: 1. Jethro Tull - Aqualung 2. Stones - Exile on Main Street (can't believe this hasn't shown up yet) 3. Led Zep IV 4. Beatles - White Album (another great not on the list till now) 5. AC/DC - Back in Black 6. Crosby Stills and Nash - self titled Very old stuff, but these guys were the heat in my formative years and the albums are timeless, especially for a road trip. Lately I'm partial to Cake and any of Jack White's music. And Bluegrass. I've also developed a taste for Rage Against the Machine. Good thing I can't understand the lyrics, I guess.
  22. Having 2 loaded and charged long guns on your person during a match is akin to juggling chainsaws. Its possible, but better left to someone who does it for a living.
  23. This is indeed good news, as I have recently acquired a pair of spagetti shottys - both heavily modified. Wonder how Benelli will handle all the cutting, polishing, dremeling, etc that their sponsered shooters will have inflicted on their guns?
  24. What is the rule on slung shotgun? Is Barrel down on the back OK with gun loaded but bolt closed on empty chamber? Any other rules to note on slung shotguns?
