  1. This may be a hijack of the thread, but I would like to shorten the length of pull and do something about the ribbed plastic forend on the Supernova. Or maybe I just need to adjust my grip. Suggestions?
  2. what is the punch size? this is an easy job only with the right tools. otherwise, ... well i guess all receivers look cooler with a few scratches.
  3. I think Mike Gibson of MGM used to shoot a Garand in 3 gun back in the day.
  4. be sure it is not ammo. mine runs great on cheaper ammo but chokes on high dollar cci. I found that out today at a steel match. with non-jacketed ammo you need to keep the feed ramp and chamber clean.
  5. is there generally a power factor speced for Heavy metal? or just .45?
  6. ergo. i shot a rifle from the back of the safe the other day and it took me a minute to figure out why I didnt like the feel. no ergo on it.
  7. That makes me rethink my decision to stick with the Glock 34. That is exactly what I would want for a 2011 3- gun pistol. Except maybe Ion bond black. Very nice slide work.
  8. is there a standard as to what is measured on a gas system? i.e. from what point to what point on an assembled rifle. I want to be sure I'm comparing apples to apples. is there a clear standard on what lengths constitute carbine, mid and rifle length sustems? Thanks.
  9. I've looked around and don't see a ZDi model anywhere, think there is only one 1-4x22mm ZD scope and it's illuminated. I stand corrected. the ad just showed the black reticle on the ZD but a red and black on the K-Dot, which confused me.
  10. Semantics. but there is a lot of that going around. it sounds more freestylish.
  11. I think that ZD at SportOptics is a ZD, not a ZDi (illuminated). be sure you know what youre getting. I agree the Meopta is a great 3gun scope.
  12. I must be missing something. The easy way, and the way I have seen it done often enough, is to specify a limited number of rounds in the rifle at the start. And have more targets presented than that #. That way no rules are changed and no equipment is outlawed. in fact, the re-load is not legally mandatory, although it effectively is. It is still freestyle.
  13. This is good advice whether you're talking guns, bicycles, golf clubs - whatever. If a rich guy shows up with a very good expensive rifle and he can't really get the most out of it - people will say that he is a weak shooter. If the same rich guy shows with a cheap piece of junk, they will say he is a weak shooter and a cheapskate. Better to grow into your gear that out grow it quickly. On the other hand, there is no good reason to spend the kids college fund for a piece of sporting equipment.
  14. Waht about wallowing out the 2 half moon cutouts to make the piece more flecible? there was a thread on that a few months ago. Seem that making it more flexible would be better than just bending it. I tried that on mine but I was afraid to do enough to make a difference. Plus I scratched the receiver getting the pin in and out. Can a gunsmith do the adjustment with only the catch and not have to send the whole gun?
  15. Jsse - what all did you have done to your Supernova at Red Neck Tactical? Can you post pics? I just went the benelli pump route and that thing is a beast!
  16. does the VooDoo tactical have a full divider for 2 rifles? the pics on the site do not look like it does. may need the 60" 50 cal bag.
  17. Limiting the number of rounds in the start mag is the way to go. For example, a house clearing stage where the shooter starts with 10 in the rifle and can decide where he/she transitions from rifle to pistol. maybe require retention of the rifle to encourage sling utilization skill. An el Presidente 3 gun stage is also a good stage. Shoot the paper body with pistol, heads with rifle and have some steel for the shotgun (or other paper targets for slugs). Fast, high round count and easy set-up. Put all 3 guns on a table and let the shooter decide the order. You ORSA boys up fo dat next month?
  18. My Salient M2 is great. Handle one and then decide. My accuracy with slugs is execellent. No malfs in several thousand rounds. Eats any ammo I've tried.
  19. I got a few of these slugs as a stocking stuffer (my wife/Santa is a real sport) and they shoot great out of my Benelli. Seem to shoot a lot flatter than Remington low recoil or Wolf. Anybody know where these slugs are in stock? Dillion and B&P are out.
  20. WT Granny has a good list, with permits, site plans and licenses being more sub issues of zoning. zoning and insurance being the big 2. If you are going to do this regularly, you REALLY need to do some good politiking with the neighbors. Reagrdless of the letter of the law, if you PO the neighbors, you will likely have trouble. I am an attorney, and this advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
  21. Ha. I used to think that the only way to load a shot shell backwards in the tube would be on purpose. Found out that it is definitely possible to do it by accident at our 3gun match on Sunday. Luckily, I engaged in loadus interruptus and only went in half way.

    Glock 34 mods

Assume you are starting with a new stock Glock 34. What would you do to it for 3 Gun? Basically no limits, but function and reliability is crucial. Dont hang off the raggedy edge of reliability. if you assume certainbullet weights or loads, let us know that, but it should run both 115 factory and 147 subsonic rounds. Oh yeah, no optics or compensator. Please be specific as to parts, i.e. name the sights, trigger parts, etc. Thanks!
  24. the reservations manager at Rockcastle is not aware of the change. or she wasn't until i just called. are the new dates firm?

    Customizing a Glock 34

Great info. interesting that no one is talking about undercutting the trigger guard, slide lighting, grip texture, etc. the 34 I've been shooting has dawson sights, a cheap/small/ light magwell and very good grip texturing. stock everything else. I also shoot a 35, which i like, but it seems finicky as to recoil springs, especially when switching between major and minor loads. any similar issues with the 34 if you start messing with guide rods and springs?
