  1. I was thinking of giving blue bullets a try. I was going to run 147 grain 9mm bullets in my Accushadow, but I noticed that there are two different bullet profiles--Round Nose and Flat Point. Which profile is better for the CZ AccuShadow? Also--what is the Ben Stoeger discount code? Anyone have it handy?
  2. I made Master shooting with one eye closed. I tried to train myself to shoot with 2 eyes open and failed. You can see it in my classifier scores. About 5 months of bad scores. I just couldn't get used to seeing 2 slides and 2 targets. I will try again one day, but this was a 5 month experiment that did not work for me.
  3. I think he is just a busy guy. Stay persistent! He does really good work!
  4. Any favorite of the above mentioned? Or any to avoid?
  5. Hi guys, The title says it all. What is your favorite optic for PCC? Why?
  6. Just got a hold of Dan and will be shipping to him. Thank you both for the replies.
  7. Does anyone know of any good M & P gunsmiths who can do trigger work and grip texturing? I have used Dan Burwell in the past and loved his work, but he is almost impossible to get a hold of with no replies to many inquiries over multiple months. I am not even sure he is still in the gunsmithing business. Thanks in advance for your help.
  8. Thanks Kneeling. I just measured about a dozen. 8 were .420. Two were .419 and a two were .421.
  9. I have a bunch of long loaded 40 for a limited gun (1.195 OAL). I would like to shorten all my loaded rounds by .070 so that it will run in my single stack gun (1.125 OAL). Can I just re-seat the bullets and re-crimp them? Has anyone ever done this? Note--pressure is a non-issue. I shot a bunch of long loaded 40 and short loaded 40 with the same powder charge and there was (to my great surprise) no change in velocity. None.
  10. Hi Guys, I know that there are a lot of AR compensator threads on Brian Enos. I am also very aware that there is no clear consensus on what the "best" compensator is and that the mere mention of the word "compensator" angers some folks. I do have a specific request that is not really covered by all the compensator threads on Brian Enos. I am hoping to build a list of TUNABLE compensators. A summary of your user experiences (good and bad) with these compensators would also be terrific. As always, your insights are greatly appreciated.
  11. I am also trying to get a hold of Dan. I have emailed him and also sent him a Brian Enos PM. If anyone has other contact info, please PM it over to me. Many thanks!
  12. Just a practical question (and I am certainly not out to bash a sport here)......which would be a better demonstration of shooting to you? Shooter A who draws on a 10 yard, open target and shoots one -0 and one -1 in ONE second. or Shooter B who draws on a 10 yard, open target and shoots two -0s in TWO seconds. Under the OLD rules, Shooter A would be scored at 1.5 seconds and Shooter B at 2 seconds. But think about it. Shooter A probably drew and fired his first shot in .8 seconds with a .2 split. Even though he shot one -1, that is damned impressive. I personally think I could do this 2 times out of 10 tries. Shooter B probably drew at 1.5 seconds and had a .5 split to get his down zero hits. Is this impressive? Not at all. I personally could do this 10 times out of 10 tries. But with the UPCOMING IDPA rules, shooter A and shooter B are TIED at 2 seconds. My personal opinion (based on this practical example) is that IDPA will stress accuracy TOO much. While the best shooters will still be the best shooters, people will begin to develop bad habits like letting their sights dwell on the A zone. Time will tell....
  13. And I just vacationed in New York. I like it there.
  14. Like most USPSA shooters, I don't hate IDPA. I just strongly prefer the USPSA game. But if there was no USPSA, I would certainly shoot IDPA. And I do shoot an IDPA match about once or twice a year, so I have more than a passing familiarity with the sport. Having said that, it does bother me that IDPA is, practically speaking, controlled by one man and is thus subject to his biases. This has created the perception of some logical inconsistencies in the sport which has provided a lot of fuel for discussion on the internet. I think that discussion often gets interpreted as hate. But I think a lot of it is driven by people who actually like IDPA (many USPSA shooters start here) and are concerned for the sport.
  15. I put an Apex barrel in mine and compared it to the stock barrel. Both guns shoot identical groups (about 2 inches at 25 yards with me bracing a bit on a table). Money wasted ;-(
  16. My experience was this: 1) Install involved removing material from all areas mentioned in the video except the barrel hood. No problems, but I took it slow and it took a lot of time. 2) The barrel was EXACTLY as accurate (in terms of group size) as my stock barrel. There was NO improvement. The only difference was that the Apex barrel printed 2.5 inches lower and a tad to the left at 25 yards. I am just going to run my stock barrel. I am pretty disappointed.
  17. No--multiple mags have the issue. I used to run Springer base pads and never had the issue because of the added weight. I just didnt like how long those pads were.
  18. Hi Guys, I like the stock polymer basepads because they are thin and thin basepads are easier to reload for me from an ergonomic standpoint. The problem with the stock polymer basepads is that they are extremely light. About once every other match, I have a magazine that does not drop free. A little weight might help things. Does anyone make a THIN (by thin, I mean the same thickness as the stock polymer basepad) basepad out of steel or brass for MecGar SPO1 magazines?
  19. Don't forget something that is under $1Or maybe with magic beans or a golden goose... or never misses That was a low and said in jest, but I am confused how all that, ties into this thread. How "PCC is harder than it looks". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You are forgetting that last sentence about "closing the gap." Technical improvement will help close the gap with pistols. At my club, we have about 7 regular PCC shooters (huge club). About 5 of those guys have issues with their guns. Probably 3 of them have serious issues. Part of what is hard about PCC is that the guns themselves are in their infancy in terms of development. It is making PCC look harder than it really is right now, although shooting a carbine on pistol stages presents its own special set of challenges.
  20. I am not a PCC shooter, but it will be really fascinating to watch gun development if PCC really takes off. My guess is that if this becomes a seriously competitive division, then M4 based platforms will be replaced by something that: 1) Reloads through the pistol grip (easier reloads and shorter carbine). Perhaps even with a magwell. 2) Something that is gas powered and not blow back (less felt recoil). 3) Perhaps (and I could be very wrong here) something that does not have a stock in line with the bore, but rather an M1 carbine type stock that would allow you to put the optic very close to the bore line to reduce bore offset. However, this may increase felt recoil to the point that this is a non-starter. 4) Comps that actually work for a 9mm (not sure if this is really feasible). 5) Something that comes with 35+ round magazines as standard equipment. 6) Something that reliably locks back on the on an empty mag (nice to have). 7) Something with very ergonomic controls for the bolt release, magazine release, and safety. 8) Something that has lots of barrel length options for the NFA guys. I know of no PCC that would have all of these attributes. Some of these things would help PCC close the gap with pistols in some areas.
  21. Hi Jim, The burwell trigger looks like a regular M & P trigger (same position in trigger guard), but the break point is brought forward and the overtravel reduced.
  22. What if instead of stippling the frontstrap, there was just grip tape there (I have another M & P). Is it then a SSP gun? To keep things straight, gun would have the following: 1) Apex aftermarket barrel. 2) Dan Burwell trigger (trigger looks exactly the same as a stock M & P, but the trigger breaks with less rearward movement, the reset is shorter, and there is less overtravel). 3) Aggressive texturing on the palm swell insert. 4) Aftermarket sights (Dawson). 5) Grip tape on the front strap.
  23. Thanks guys. I appreciate the input.
  24. Hi Guys, I shoot USPSA 98% of the time and have only a basic understanding of IDPA rules. I recently acquired a Smith and Wesson M & P 9L with the following upgrades: 1) Apex aftermarket barrel. 2) Dan Burwell trigger (trigger looks exactly the same as a stock M & P, but the trigger breaks with less rearward movement, the reset is shorter, and there is less overtravel). 3) Aggressive texturing on the front strap and palm swell insert. 4) Aftermarket sights (Dawson). Would this be legal for IDPA SSP if I chose to shoot that?
