  1. Any issues of the hand guard and gas block touching?
  2. Hi Guys, I am wondering if the holy grail exists. Is there an adjustable gas block and thin, lightweight handguard combination that works well? My ideal would be an SLR Sentry gas block under a BCM KMR hand guard. Unfortunately, that gas block will not fit under that hand guard. Is there a combo that will work? Should I look at non-adjustable gas blocks or am I giving up too much? I really want to keep the handguard THIN and LIGHT. Thank you in advance.
  3. 35 minutes of dry fire, 4 times a week. 1 live fire practice session per week (200 rounds). 3 matches per month. I am Master Class.
  4. I have heard (from Optics Planet) that Swaro has discontinued the Z6i 1-6 that we so love for multigun. Is this true?
  5. As the OP I would like to thank you guys for engaging on this idiot fight and junking up an otherwise excellent thread. Please continue to try to get the last word in.
  6. I had a 1 hour routine, 7 day a week routine that took me from B-Class to M-Class over the last year. Then I got tendonitis in my elbow and scaled back to 35 minutes a day and only 4 days a week. My current routine (which is basically a little more than half of my old routine) is this. I would love to hear feedback: 1) 10 draws (2 shots on one target) with hands at sides. I draw to the head box. 2) 10 draws (2 shots on one target) hands about shoulders. I draw to the head box. 3) 6 turn and draws (3 targets, 2 shots each). Draw and shoot the body of the targets. I vary the number of shots per target (1, 2, or 3) and sometimes just Bill Drill targets. I vary the position of the targets too (wide transitions, narrow, stacked targets, etc.). 4) Using two shooting boxes, engage 3 targets with 2 shots each and then reload on the way to the next shooting box where I reengage the same targets. Go back and forth until I go through all 5 mags on my belt. Do this 4 times. Vary the targets to get all different kinds of transitions. 20 reloads total. Most of the time I do this side to side. Rarely, I do it back and forth. 5) Same drill as Number 4, except that I do a standing reload. Go through every mag on my belt. Do this 3 times. Vary the targets to get all different kinds of transitions. 15 reloads total. 6) Draw, shoot a head box target 2 times, reload, shoot head box 2 times, reload, etc. until I go through all 5 magazines. I vary the type of draw. 25 reloads total. 7) Draw an empty gun, pull a mag at the same time and load the gun (including racking a round in the chamber). I will run through targets in different ways and vary the type of draw. I do this 12 times. On 4 draws I am standing still. On another 4 draws, I am moving right. On the last 4 draws, I am moving left. Sometimes I go forward and backwards too. Great gun handling drill. 8) I do about 16 draws from funky positions. For example, hands at surrender and then move into a shooting box backwards. Or simulate drawing with hands on a wall. Or draw and take off running fast at the same time. 9) I hold the gun up and take a perfect sight picture and try to make a perfect trigger press. Then I quickly rack the slide. This is a "two-fer" drill--trigger control and quick malfunction clearance. I do this 10 times (1 full magazine). 10) I practice slide lock reloads (hold the gun with the slide locked back, simulate 2 shots and then load the gun and let the slide go forward). I do this 5 times. Most of the time, I move while loading. Note--I use three 1/3 sized targets and have dummy rounds in my magazines (no primers or powder) to get the weight correct. I also perform the above RANDOMLY but tend to do number 4 earlier in my session (this drill most simulates a stage and I like to do it cold). I don't vary target distance very much because my room is small, but I do vary target distance a lot in live fire. I don't really run stages and just do that live fire. Sometimes I mix other things in--table top reloads, shoot on the move, huge transitions, etc.. If I know I will see something weird in a match, I will practice it. I usually don't use the timer except for occasional "tests" to chart improvement. I also removed strong hand and weak hand drills from my dry fire because this was really causing my tendonitis to flare up.
  7. I am the OP and I just made the switch. After 1 week of dry fire.....I have to say that I really like it. I can get a good, consistent grip on the magazines and I don't have to reach around as far to the back to get the last mags. I am not as proficient as bullets forward yet, but time will tell. The only downside so far is that there is an increased risk of knocking a mag out (have done this twice) although this may just be a training issue. Thanks for all the good replies! They factored in heavily to my decision to switch!
  8. eerw--do you mind sending a link? I cant find the serpa in question.
  9. Thank you. It does fit the SP01, right? The description says 75 and 75B.
  10. I run a CZ 75 SPO1 accushadow. Incredible gun. Was thinking about running it in multigun, but want a good retention holster (like the Safariland ALS or Blackhawk SERPA). Does anyone make a retention holster (i.e., you can hold the holster upside down and the gun will not fall out) for the Shadow?
  11. True enough. Various range rules and the condition of the range itself limit what they can do. A great bunch of guys though. I only shoot with them a couple times a year. USPSA handgun occupies much more time.
  12. Shot at the Chabot Gun Range near Oakland, CA. [Tried to post a link, but it won't let me for some reason.] One stage on Sunday took me 80 or so rounds. I have seen hundred round stages there. A common theme is "Engage 4 steel targets between 180 to 200 yards away. Engage each target twice. Now repeat at 7 other shooting positions." 64 rounds minimum. I had a BCM KMR hand guard (very small diameter) and it was freaking hot. Approaching the edge of usability with a bare hand.
  13. I shoot an occasional "outlaw" type match with insane round counts. I generally hate these type of matches because of the expense involved and wear on my rifles, but my friends shoot them so I do too. I often wear gloves for these stages/matches. But are there AR handguard/barrel/pic rail attachments/heat shields that work better than others? Just wondering if there is an optimum combination for dealing with extreme heat rifle / handguard heat.
  14. Tigereye--I used his website to send a message, waited a week, and followed up with a Brian Enos PM yesterday. No response. I don't think just sending him the gun is how he wants to do it. He may just be very busy.
  15. Can you describe (travel distance, weight, stacking, etc.) the pre-travel, break, overtravel and reset of the Burwell Competition Trigger? I have an M & P Pro and I am not sure if I will set it up for USPSA Production or Limited (3 gun), so any education on the different options would be much obliged. I have been to Dan's website and have done a search on the forums, but really want to understand how Dan's work is different from the stock trigger or the Apex triggers I can drop in. Many thanks in advance!
  16. I would assume that aftermarket grip inserts are OK (so long as they don't modify the "factory profile" whatever that means) although I don't think I know of anyone who makes them.
  17. Like that thought, Stealthy. Any particular brand that is fairly thick?
  18. Seems like a gray area. I am cutting on the grip INSERT, not the actual backstrap. It is akin to cutting on a regular grip panel on a 1911 (like when guys cut a groove into their grip for to facilitate dropping a magazine).
  19. Great thought, but I have WAY too much muscle memory with the traditional method! I would change guns before I change technique.
  20. Has anyone here transitioned from the traditional method of carrying magazines (i.e., bullets forward) to the "bullets facing out" method? If so, how was the transition? How are the ergonomics? Did you speed up your reloads or make them more consistent? Or did it make your reloads worse? I am considering doing this. One advantage that I see is that your mags will take up less real estate on your belt. But I worry that I am giving something up ergonomically.
  21. I find that I really like the large grip insert on the M & P. The palm swells feel great in the hand. The only issue is.......the very top of the backstrap makes is much harder to get my thumb on the magazine release without shifting my grip. A question for you guys: 1) Has anyone take the TOP of the backstrap off the large grip insert? Are there any practical issues with this? 2) Before I break out my dremel tool......is this production legal? Many thanks!
  22. I just got an M & P Pro 9L (9mm) which I am toying with the idea of using in Production. What modifications do all of you make (triggers, sights, springs, magazine basepads, holsters, mag pouches, grips, guide rods, other things)? I am new to the platform and am wondering what I should be considering.
  23. Incidentally, I think I may have accidentally met Sin-ster (Bo) who posted some sage advice above at the 2014 USPSA Nationals. Only about 50% sure of this.
  24. Hey Paul, This post is almost 3 years old. As you know (if you are who I think you are ), I have since made Master Class. This thread helped. Also moving to a CZ from a Glock helped. The gun just fits my hand better and let me get more support hand pressure on the gun. With the Glock, my hands had to conform to the (flat) grip. With the CZ, the grip has swells that conforms to my hand a bit better. The heavy frame and light slide of the CZ probably helped too.
