  1. I've used KKM in my last two builds. The 2011 I just finished is ridiculously accurate. Sub 1" offhand groups at 15 yards.
  2. I used an EGW grip safety on my last 2011. Very little blending needed and I really like the feel. I used the extreme engineering trigger kit, also very pleased with the performance.
  3. Bruce might be setting up another class in Kansas City this fall.
  4. A 1911 thumb safety physically blocks the sear from moving. It has to be fit perfectly to the sear in your gun. It must have material removed before it will fit in your gun. If it's not done properly, you will have an unsafe firearm that could unintentionally discharge. It's not difficult, but it's important that you know what you are doing.
  5. I'm thinking of using this on my next build. Any reliability issues in the past couple years?
  6. Would you do $50 shipped for one of your invictus caddies?

      I'll do $54 shipped?

  7. I just watched that. I'll check those dimensions on the mags.
  8. It's definitely not the basepad, this is happening even with tubes with no guts.
  9. So I bought 6 new STI Magazines from Brownells for my 9mm Eagle. Two of them insert perfectly and lock into the mag catch with ease. Of the remaining 4, two of them just won't seat and the other two will seat, but require an amount of force that it completely unacceptable for competition use. I called STI and their voicemail inbox is full, so I sent an email with no reply yet. My thought is that the notch on the magazine needs to be opened up at the top, but before I go filing on nearly $300 of gear I'd like to hear some thoughts on the matter. I have tried these on my Edge too and got the same results.
  10. Not uncommon at all. But, even if you are shooting 2" at 100 you are not giving up much. Keep it and shoot the hell out of it.
  11. I've had the same problems with the Burris. I have a Razor now and it's pretty damn good.
  12. If you feel confident in your skills, do it yourself. I take pride in doing things myself and find that I learn a lot more about my guns that way. It's not a hard job. Tape off your edges and use only files. There are several YouTube videos on it. Careful when you get near the follower, that's where you can ruin it. Do a little at a time, you can always go back and take more off later.
  13. Probably the best monthly match I've ever shot. It was more like a one day "big" match.
  14. I agree with others about the plated. Do NOT assume that one batch of bullets from the same maker will perform the same. I shot a 5 shot 5" group this morning at 50 yards unsupported. The middle of last year the same bullet was giving me fliers 18" away from poa at 25 yards!! Different lots of bullets. I'm going back to coated when I run out of plated. They always shoot great.
