  1. My Edge does this with lead bullets and some coated bullets. The shoulder of the bullet is engaging edge of the throat where the casemouth headspaces. It would need to be reamed to open it up slightly.
  2. Both times it happened was "on the clock". If it does it in practice I'll check that out.
  3. The trigger group was pretty clean. I didn't see anything unusual.
  4. I have to believe that it's a personal contest to see if they can break the packaging ON PURPOSE!
  5. I would try a light modified choke. My gun shows major differences in POI between different chokes and different ammo.
  6. This has happened twice to me now. In the middle of a stage there is no slack in the trigger at all. The bolt is closed all the way. I rack the charging handle and a live round comes out of the chamber, then all is well. It's not ammo related because both rounds were inspected after the fact. I've probably got 2-3 thousand through the gun and probably 100 or so rounds fired between these malfunctions. Wierd.
  7. My illumination stopped working completely. I've tried different batteries. I NEVER use it, so it would be more trouble to be without the scope and having to re-zero it. FWIW, it was bright when it did work.
  8. If I want to try a lighter spring, is it better to get a full length guide rod for a 1911 and new springs? Or are there options for lighter springs with the recoilmaster? I want a lighter spring for lighter loads.
  9. I've shot some Fiocchi stuff less than 50 yards and it will definitely mark up some targets (MGM AR500). If you get an edge hit, it's taking a chunk out with it.
  10. +1 on the Champion Easy Hit. I have the 5" 3mm green dot. It's huge, but it didn't hurt me hitting slug steel out to 130 yards at Ozark. I'm also left eye dominant.
  11. The reason I ask about lead is because mine are being forced into the throat. I'm trying to find out what the throat diameter is cut to. Edit- As far as the grip goes. I've worn some pretty good calluses onto my hand now, so it doesn't hurt as much.
  12. Have you loaded any lead?
  13. I think my cameraman had been drinking on a couple of these stages.
  14. I wore pants, no sitting. I must have stepped in the wrong spot. My buddy had shorts and sat all over the place. He got one frickin bite!
  15. Most sports involve coaching in one way or another. Boxing, MMA, Racing and many others come to mind and they are all "individual sports". I don't think it's a big deal, but I've never seen anything that made me think that it was completely unfair either. Let's face it, typically when someone gets a little "coaching" the damage is already done. At that point it's just controlling the bleeding on the clock.
  16. Hell I think the side by side action idea is fantastic. You can really grasp how a missed shot, bungled reload, or even stopping at two spots to engage targets instead of one can impact the outcome of your overall time. For that matter, it would be interesting to see a Daniel Horner run next to a mere mortal (but still good) shooter just to illuminate how fast he really is. I really wanted to see how I would come out in the point series even if I couldn't make it to the final match. Just to see how I ranked up against people who had been shooting 3gun much longer than me. I was pissed when they didn't make the CMMG match one of the qualifying matches. I get the feeling that was political more than anything, correct me if I'm wrong. I think the goal of the show should be twofold. Increase public awareness of the sport and attracting new shooters. You have to make it entertaining to make people watch it. To attract new shooters, I think you need to demonstrate that not everyone at the match is a pro. Nobody is going to come out if they are intimitated by what they see on tv. Sprinkle in a few "regular" guys runs to take away some of that intimidation. Shootoffs- Seriously, it's getting old with the same people. At least add a wildcard. The idea of a separate shootoff with random players is great. In fact I think I said that first in another thread. And Jesse, that comment about your wifes acting is hilarious. I take it she doesn't read this stuff!
  17. I picked it up last night. It's VERY nice. It cuts into the web of my hand a little. I'm going to have to work on my grip, I can already tell I won't always activate the grip safety. Range day is tomorrow. I also noticed that manually feeding rounds through it they seem to nose dive right into the feed ramp. Some factory rounds were fine, but some of my reloads ended up with dents in the side of the case and I can see rub marks on the bullet right at the case mouth. It seems like the dents may be caused because of the steep angle of feeding. Is this normal?
  18. I stopped counting at 50. My legs look like I've spent the last six months cooking meth!
  19. The check is in the mail. Edit- I bought an Edge just for this match! (Ok, maybe not just for this one.)
  20. Here's my long-winded take on things. Positives- Great communication BEFORE the match. Great stages, great RO's. I liked the ipsc style flash targets and the large shotgun knockovers were fun. I feel like I shot the best match that I've ever shot and I had a great time doing it. I liked that, for the most part, the targets were presented well and not hard to see, for ALL shooters. Shootoffs- They get pretty boring with the same people. I had no idea when the shootoffs started. If an announcement was made or the time was posted somewhere, I totally missed it. Why don't they get the shootoffs started with a random group of 6 or 8 shooters from the match and make the winner of that shootoff the wildcard to go up against the top guys. That would get me in the crowd EVERY time and I'd be sure not to miss it. Negatives- Kirk is a great guy and on a personal level I can empathize with his position. I can only imagine how bad he feels about how this turned out. He put countless hours/days of his time preparing for this match that he could have been spending with his family and this is not what he intended the outcome to be. He has my forgiveness and I'll be there next year. BUT, I still don't understand how this was even a possibility. The program should have been tested re-tested and a redundant system should have been in place. A better solution for the prize table was offered but ignored. Pick one stage (that everyone shot) at random and make that the order of finish. It's not perfect but it would have been the MOST fair by at least awarding prizes by performance. I'm also sure there was time to score some of the smaller divisions. Another gripe is the prize table. People want to see what's on the table. BRM3G this year was a perfect example of how to run a prize table. I hate seeing black bags on the table with no clue what's inside. I worked hard and spent a lot of money to walk the table and honestly I want to get the best item I can. The last impression is a lasting one. It's only fair to the sponsors too. My contest- This is not meant to be mean spirited so don't take it the wrong way. I'm trying to take a bad experience and be able to laugh at it. I think I finished in the 20's-30's somewhere, maybe higher or a little lower. I walked away with a 30 round magazine, 2 boxes of american eagle ammo, a Hornady sticker, and two samples of gun oil from Brownells. That's like $20 worth of stuff. If you think you placed higher than me and got a SMALLER prize. Post it and I'll ship you my magazine, a sticker, and some lube (can't ship the ammo). Rant off- I feel much better. Kirk hang in there, I still had a good time and that's what counts. See you at Ozark next year!
