  1. I've ordered all my stuff from SSS, except the Blade Tech I got from Midway and mags from Botach. I'm hoping its here by the weekend, but if not I'll be shooting Single Stack this weekend. I'm using Blackhawk double stack mag holders that I used with my Para. They have plenty of room to hold the M&P mags. I got the Black SSS Brass magwell and T/F extensions. I'll see how bad it flips, but I'll probably end up ordering the Tungsten rod. I'm loading to 1.200" OAL, that has fit fine in my mags so far. I blacked out the rear dots and painted the whole face of the front sight neon green, I've had too many fibres break during the stage to use them much anymore.
  2. Thanks Nik, I should have looked up the rules before posting that.
  3. I have several thousand left over 1.2" loads from my Para that run great in my M&P.
  4. Good points, I'm guilty of holding the gun as if it won't go off. This is important because if it does go off and the bullet strikes within 10 feet of the shooter, its an AD DQ - but if it strikes the berm or a target, its just additional time to the COF or a late shot/extra shot, much better than a DQ.
  5. My other thought is that you are belling the cases way too much, I bell just enough to turn the mouth out and that is it. My crimp is pretty solid, I've never had a round sink into the case even smacking the feed ramp pretty hard. Lead bullets and off brand jacketed bullets could also be undersize, although that is rarely the issue.
  6. BBI is popular no doubt, but I'm sticking to jacketed bullets from Montana Gold.
  7. You aren't wearing out the die, the cases are work hardened and either need to be stress relieved or tossed. I have 20k rounds through my RCBS Carbide dies (they only make Carbide in .40) with zero problems. Even shooting steel cased ammo wouldn't wear out a carbide die.
  8. If you load the clip then pull the bolt all the way back, it should feed without a hitch. I normally just let it ride and give it a quick tap to chamber the cartridge.
  9. I have an 1894 .44 Mag that is a lot of fun. Mine is a pre-safety model. I never saw a need to cram more than 10 rounds in it, and removing the spacer can cause coil bind. Anyway, its a good rifle, I have a 2.75x scope on mine and its pretty accurate.
  10. We don't have an IDPA group, but our USPSA group easily draws 15 new shooters a match and we have had 75+ shooters show up on our saturdays, we have practice on Monday nights and that draws many people that don't shoot saturdays.
  11. I'm building my M&P 40 now, and just ordered a bunch of parts. I'd really like to go with Dan's work, but $140 shipping is way too much for me to swallow. His price for the work is very reasonable, and if he was local, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm going to install the Apex kit and see how that changes things. My gun isn't bad now, in fact its pretty darn good compared to many of the horror stories I've read here.
  12. Rule #2 Double tap, everyone gets 2! Its a nice hobby, I enjoy all shooting sports, NRA Highpower, .22 Silhouettes, Steel Challenge, USPSA, Sporting Clays, Skeet, Trap... its all good.
  13. I think $500 is pretty cheap, its less than the cost of most of our handguns and its cheaper than my cell phone.
  14. You can't intentionally touch the shooter and I wouldn't want to risk them dropping their gun and getting DQ'ed when a simple "Stop" will do.
  15. Before my .40 Compact I didn't really have anything, before I got my .40 fullsize I was shooting a Para Ordnance for USPSA, but I have a lot of other guns too. The M&P feels a lot better to me, I bought the Para online and didn't get a chance to feel it. That is a mistake if you ask me. It never felt quite right, and my scores showed it. I tried to make the gun work, but I couldn't do it. I wasn't competitive enough with it, but this year will be a lot different. I've been practicing a lot lately with my M&P and the first match is in a few weeks, I'll be ready for it. I like wheel guns a lot, I have a 28-2 and a bunch of Rugers that I like to shoot.
  16. I'm shooting a Ruger MKIII 5.5" Stainless Slabside, last year I shot it with irons, this year I have a J Point. I'd like to add a Comp, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
  17. Hard to imagine anyone would try to screw around with you Troy!
  18. I'm building a USPSA Limited gun right now with SSS/TF stuff, its going right along very nicely and way cheaper than my 1911.
  19. Really? I'm surprised at that, but I don't shoot IDPA yet so I wasn't aware. Nice vid anyway though.
  20. I think that is pretty cool, we have one club in town, the next is 180 miles, then 250 then 370. I only go to one here and sometimes at the one 180 miles away as they have some awesome 3 gun matches.
  21. I DQ'ed a guy last year that got mouthy, he didn't like me much to begin with and was being rude and going through ULSC really fast before I had a chance to say anything. He kept doing it and I'd ask him to repeat it, he did it the next stage and I let is slide, then he did it again on the next stage, I said the commands again, he said he'd already done it, and turned and walked out of the box, with a mag in his gun. He apologized and has been much nicer since then.
  22. I use Montana Gold 155s for a minor load with TiteGroup. I like them. I'm used to shooting 158s in .357 Mag so the bullet weight being similar makes it easier for me to transition between guns.
  23. Must be different areas of the country, the only snobs I encounter are on the Skeet fields. You would think they sleep with their Berettas under their pillows.
