Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I hate that noise, part of why I won't shoot an Auto 5. I am going to try slide glide, unless you think axle grease would make it quieter? :-)
  2. Update: I had no bushings work loose yesterday in loading, after tightening with a wrench.
  3. I have not tried another bushing on the powder measure, but it seems the most prone to working loose. I used channel lock pliers to tighten them and it helped, but others will occasionally work loose.
  4. Wow, that is great, I will try that. Thank you very much.
  5. Mine are working loose while loading, and don't come all the way out, but don't seem to have a "purchase" when tightened down [and I am not an engineer] so figured others maybe had it happen and knew something. I am glad to hear it is apparently not a problem on other presses.
  6. I would like the advice of those who are running the Hornady LNL press. I can't seem to get the bushings to sty in and not work loose while loading which changes the die settings and of course will not turn out well if not caught. Any helpful ideas - I wondered about a copper shim/washer or thicker o-ring, thanks?
  7. I certainly don't know, but would have thought lighter would be better on recoil, but it appears like most things it feels different to different folks and different guns too. I am shooting a 5" which I like, but need to work up loads, and really appreciate all the input. I may try some 180s and 155s and see how they feel to me in this gun - I already committed to a bunch of Solo 1000, based on a lot of reading here on experience with it, to start my loads with. Thanks.
  8. Thanks folks: I was just considering purchasing some Precision bullets for 40 and was wondering about which weight, I guess I was thinking in rifle terms on recoil [seems to me lighter bullets have lower recoil]. Glad to be straight on that. So, 185s from Precision be a good place to start with Solo 1000, in a STI Edge, 5"? Suggestion on where to start charge wise? Thanks again, glad to be on here, I have found reading very interesting on the forum!
  9. I have been reading on her a while, first post. I tried to search and didn't find an answer, so ... I see a good bit of discussion on Solo 1000 with 170 grain Precision bullets, and loading to make Major. I am trying to come up with ideas on new loads for this gun. I am shooting a Brazos Custom Edge, and intend to start at 1.175 OAL, if after I buy some of these they would seat. Can you not get there with their 155 grain bullet [won't allow the seating length?], or does it just not work as well? Thanks.
