  1. WOW! what a post. I started shooting about two years back, I'am 68 now. I was on the Marine Corp Rifle @ Pistol team in the early 60's. Shot some Trap and Skeet after I got out. But them life became God, Family, and work. Memphis, I can plan out a COF and have a mind set how I want to shoot it but some times it just does not work out. I thank back when I was in the service and (I was good) and wish I could still shoot that way again, but it is not going to happen. I guess what I want to say is, take the stress off and just have a good time. Forget what it use to be and take what you have now and build on it. Less face it, when you are on the COF by yourself, you are in your on little world just for a few seconds. I think you will make progress if you just relax and enjoy. Don't be so hard on yourself. I love this sport.

    Bike Skills

If you want to know how good your balance must be to do this, first try to ride a bike on a set of rollers, or lay some 4x4 on the ground and ride on these. If you come off you want get hurt. One time in the winter I was in my basement on a set of roller clipping along at about 35 and my wife came down the steps and started talking to me, not thinking i looked at her and came off the rollers. Needless to say concrete wall do not move. After it was all over it was funny, any way she thought it was. Had to buy a new rim. These vidos are great.
  3. I think you would get the same volume, from Powder A to Powder B, but what about the burn factor of each powder. Does this not change the volocity and powerfactor?
  4. Welcome to the Forum. Alot of information. Want to know something just ask, you will be suprised.
  5. Alot of information and thought so far, but I will put my two cents in. I am at the age I don't expect to win shooting against the young guys. I am 68 and only been competiting couple years. I mainly shoot against myself (unless there is someone my age or 10 years younger shooting at the time). I am class © shooter and I am trying to become an (A) shooter. What feels good to me is seeing all the other Seniors and Super Seniors lower than I am in the overall standings. It is great feeling the recoil, smelling the powder, seeing the front sight when the gun goes off knowing you hit the target. After the stage is over you feel good about yourself about how well you shot it. Life is great
  6. It is great that you are nervous. That means you really care. Your awareness will be up, and you will be thanking more about the safety aspect of the game rather than shooting. Don't get in a hurry, and walk yourself through and the next thing you know you will be running. Just have fun, and enjoy. Dave
  7. Welcome, Come by the Armory in Kearney, MO every Tuesday night, about 6pm. Always welcome new shooters, we have a great time. Don't remember the name of the street, but if you come up I-35, take Kearney exit, make a left, you will see Burger King, auto store, then take the next left at the car wash and the new Police Department. There is a equipment rental place on the left and the Armory is next. If you are comming from the west, after you pass Platt Clay Electric watch for the Car Wash on the right, as soon as you pass it take a right.
  8. Area 3 had a stage this year called, Don't Leave Without Your Gun Bag, your gun and ammo was in the bag (you couldn't put it in the mag holders). This was on a table, you are in a chair, at the buzzer my hands went down in the bag, picked it up ran forward, dropped bag, gun and magazine comes out, by this time I am loading running up about 8 steps, shoot the first aray, run back down down the steps grab a mag out of the bag run to the right up another set of 8 steps, shoot another aray, came back down, grabbed another mag , reloaded grabbed the bag ran about 8 steps, dropped bag, shot another aray, grabbed mag out of bag, make reload, picked bag up ran to wall dropped bag over wall onto a trap door to activate a turner, turner did not move, shot the aray anyway. GUESS WHAT, the turner did not work, I had a reshoot. Now I am next to the last shooter, by the time I reload it is time for me to shoot again. Now for a Super Senior I am in pretty good shape, but by the time I got back to the wall again, in that hot humid weather I was sucking so much air I didn' need to drop the bag to make the turnner work. So make sure everything works. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, THAT WAS A FUN STAGE TO SHOOT and I had a great time. I haven't been shooting that long but Area 3 was great. So Super Seniors suck it up and get in shape and have fun. We just need enough Super Seniors shoot to compete against each other. You young guys you build the stages the way you want.
  9. Even though the chrono officer holds the rank of CRO or RO should not break the 180. Some corrective action should be taken at the moment. We have to follow the USPSA/IPSC rules, and that is the bottom line, no excuses.
  10. I set Round Nose, and hollow point, LSWC at 1.245>1.250. I shoot a 1911 this works for me.
  11. Take an RO class and become certified. It is the rules of USPSA/IPSC. The RO was correct in making you reshoot.
  12. Why is it you have so many more Open, Limited, and production shooter than you do SS or Limited 10. I shoot 1911, 45ACP. As for as HOA match winner, why is there not a handy cap between the divisions. My goodness am I a whinner?
  13. This Drum is fairly new and you can see that it has been shot several times. You can see the entrance and exit. We have replaced our other two Drums and we used those for about 6 to 8 months without any problems. That is alot of holes. I thank maby the cut out makes the Drum weak enough the bullet goes through both walls. I do understand your concern and I will start watching the walls for any signs of a stray.
  14. I carry a Spring Field EMP but thinking about getting a revolver with lazer sights. Not sure yet.
  15. If you use plastic with clamps, it would easy to have alleys, runways, cut back, cross over. You would be suprise how much movement you can get ot of such a small area.
  16. I have to agree with Sarge, Band of Brothers is great.
  17. JT, check out the pictures of the drums. Look how the front and back are cut out, the white liner inside is another drum we cut up and added the pieces inside the black drum. You only need about 1/4" clearence on each side. You can also take the piece you cut of for the steal and put inside the drum. If you only have white drums, paint the front part of the drum black. You notice the rope, which i think is nylon waxed, the "I" bolt is missing out of this popper so I have the rope tired off on the back side around a small piece of wood, hook the rope to a mover. Anyway they work great.
  18. How did you do that with the pictures.
  19. If you have a problem contact me via PM I have some pictures but cannot get them on line. Send me an e-mail i will send them that way.
  20. I will get some pictures, hope i know how to put them on line. I am pretty new at this.
  21. Wilson or CMC, I have both and they work fine. They get dropped on a concrete floor alot.
  22. I do have a varable wound spring. I will have to experment some more, I under stand what you are saying. I did shoot slower and it seamed my sight returned to the same position. I will check this out again. When I said slower, I ment slower than a double tap. Thanks Dave
  23. Don't put it off, sign up at the match and you may be able to get NRA member ship at a discount when you shoot a match. But definitely get it done.
  24. That link did not work for me either. Did try the other one though, very interesting. You think back when you were young how bad you thought things were then, now you laught about them.
  25. Check out www.benstoeger.com, he has some good drills to work on. They are helping me alot.
