  1. I have only been in this sport about 2 years now. I shoot a 1911, I shoot major, I'am a class "C" shooter in limited 10 and single stack. I am a Super Senior retired, and I shoot on a budget. There are several things I do. I work on cardo, light weights, and ALOT of stretching exercises. Things just don't move quite as well as they use to. I practice dry fire, with a timmer. I have made small classic and metric targets and put them in my basement. I work on front sight picture and transition between targets. My practice is at an indoor range once a week, and I try to push my self there to learn contol. I go to as many local matches as I can to learn how to manage each stage. I have been to two area matches, two sectional matches, and one steal match this year. But there is one thing to remember, when you practice have one or two things you need to work on. It may be a classifier, or a time thing where you have 4 sec. to shoot 6 rounds in a target at 20yd, and not go over. And there are stages with long shots. Can you put two rounds in a target at 75yd in 4 sec. Every time you fire a round down range have a goal. You have to set goals, but set goals that can be reached, without burning yourself out. I road a Bicycle for about 10 years, and played golf for about 17 years, I was good at both, but had burnout. I love to shoot and that is not going to happen with this sport. Don't know if this helps anyone. Be Safe.
  2. I had this problem with my 1911. I added more pressure to the sear by adjusting the left leaf spring. Still have a 2.5 lb. trigger and has not doubled on me anymore. Have put about 5 to 6 thousands rounds through it. Good Luck
  3. I would store the brass in something with a rubber seal on the lid, that would make it air tight, and put some small packs of Damp Rid in the container. Keep it some where that the temp. and humidity is some what controlled.
  4. Hello Everyone, I made a template of a classic or metric target and reduced it to 1/2 size. I make these sometime and glue them on a no shoot or soft cover,(painted black). I cut them out of scrap cardboard, even draw the line for A,B,C,D zones. This can make it interesting. We also hang plastic for the cables for walls. We place no shoots in positions to keep from shooting the walls. We have small Pepper Poppers, and we took a plastic 55gal drum and cut it out to put the Popper in. Cut two side out 1/2" larger then the steal. Take the two pieces you cut out and fasten them to the inside to reinforce the walls. NOTE: Before you cut pick one side to be the front and make the cut 5" to 8" up from the bottom, the back side cut out down to the bottom so the steal will fall out the back. Take some 2x4 or a 2x6 and cut them to fit the inside base of the steal. Fasten this to the inside, bottom of the drum. Find you and old tire to put behind the drum. Now you can hook this to a mover. We had one that lasted 6 months. Used it one night a week. The drum ideal belongs to some else in our group.
  5. There are two within 1 hour, one about 1hr,15min and one about 2 hours. We set up a stage in an armory once a week and shoot, you would be suprised how hard we can make a stage. We change it around at least 2 to 4 times in one night. This is only about 2 miles form me. We may have anywhere from 5 to 12 shooters a night.
  6. Hello, I have several good stages for USPSA matches. Send me an e-mail (dbaker112@kc.rr.com). My computer is set up with the new windows-7. Hope it will work.
