  1. That analogy works both ways. It sounds like there are some people at the game wanting to play baseball saying "I sure wish I could use my hockey stick in this game." Single stack rules don't allow a DOH holster. There are 5 other divisions that do. Maybe it is time for a change, but I don't think we are losing any shooters because they can't use their DOH in SS.As Nik said earlier in this thread, what is the compelling reason to make a change. The only thing I've heard so far is "because I would prefer it that way." I see your point and raise you this one- It appears that the most compelling reason for making the holster requirement what it is is to make it easier for those in ANOTHER sport to crossover. Why not make it easier for shooters in THIS sport to crossover to that division? The holster that is required for SS isn't REQUIRED in any other division. Lots of people shoot limited, l10, and even open with a single stack. If they could use the same equipment and shoot single stack would t that be a good enough reason? I don't know that there is a "compelling" reason to change the rules. I do know that there are several reasons that are at least as compelling as the reason behind making it the way it is in the first place.
  2. I would be for an update to allow DOH style holsters. Nothing else about our rules is based around carry gear. That type of mentality belongs in IDPA.
  3. How exactly do you go from a round to a square trigger guard? Cut and weld?
  4. I ran 24.5 gr and had very good accuracy.
  5. You are really overthinking this. Aim at the bottom target, shoot it twice, then aim at the top target, and repeat.
  6. When you buy a 1050 it comes with little tiny brass fairies in the box. When you open the box, they disperse in your reloading room. They venture out at night and sort out all of the bad brass and discard it so that only perfect brass goes into your press and perfect rounds come out. They are invisible to inexperienced reloaders though. Let me know if you see them. PS - don't open the box in your bedroom instead of your reloading room. I won't tell you what they do in there but you don't want it to happen.
  7. I guess I will have to locate the sensor now. Ha
  8. Of all of the rules that I have seen you argue, Brandon, I think we have finally found one that you make a compelling argument on. I am not going to offer an opinion, because I have never thought about the possibility of being able to start other than the default position. Your argument seems sound and if you are correct, it will change the way I do things. I will be anxiously awaiting input from NROI on this one.
  9. That would be nice wouldn't it??? They finished announcing results around 3:30. I have been checking FB, their site, USPSA, here, everywhere I can think to look.
  10. An you elaborate on the patch deal? I shoot regularly at an indoor match and I could use a little lower setting than the auto seems to think is applicable.
  11. I have gone to Dawson toolless for all of my recoil systems now. It makes disassembly so much easier when you don't have to hunt up a paper clip. I run a 7lb spring for my 9mm edge.
  12. I know some people who would argue the reliability point as a pro on the saiga. I know, I know, yours runs, but all in all, they are not very reliable. I had an Akdal that ran, sold it. I think that if I ever go back to open, I will use speed loaders like Jerry and Mike. Two of the best do it that way, why not try it?
  13. Pretty cool. The motor issue could have been taken care of with a couple of gears or a belt and pulley system. Your way is cleaner, but as you found, finding the right motor for that setup can be difficult. Does the cooler just fit tightly into your cup or is it fastened there somehow?
  14. I've done that with my ruger scandium/polymer 38sp. It ain't fun, and that cylinder gets HOT!
  15. Looks awesome. Are you going to put a slide racker on it? What finish are you going to use?
  16. I wish you had stopped after the 1/8 ball end mill cuts as well. I liked the grooves. It looks like a layer has been peeled off and you can see the inner workings under the top layer. This is going to be a bad ass open gun. It it yours?
  17. Voicing a NEGATIVE opinion on a subject that you have absolutely nothing to do with in an effort to bring negative publicity against the match and those associated with it is MY definition of pot stirring. You may have a different definition. You HEARD that the cost is going to go up next year.....yeah. Right. The apps just came out for this year. I'm sure that they are already planning for next year. Yes, people are paying for the prizes. I know that you have very little experience around a prize table, but that is how it works. The match directors and staff call and solicit prizes for the table. Most of the prizes are not given free of charge, the Md's are allowed to buy them at discounted prices. They buy those prizes with the money from the entries. So, either the match director is a crook and is going to buy a new truck with all the extra money, or that money is going to go to buy more and better prizes for the shooters. I can tell you that it ain't the first one. Again, what is your motive here? What are you trying to accomplish?
  18. You are correct Brandon, those people are being outvoted as well. I bet you my slot that the match fills up at this price as well. I also bet you that when it fills up, and the price goes up again next year, that it will fill up then too. Hey, what is your motive for all this pot stirring? You and this other guy have said that you aren't going. Are you just trying to get others to boycot with you? Do you think that if you gripe enough that the price will get lowered and the 93 people who have already registered will get their money back? The extra money is going to the prize table. Plain and simple. If you don't agree with that then don't go, but what is the reasoning behind pissing all over everybody else who doesn't have an issue with the price?
  19. I have a brand new 5" 610. I put 40 rounds through it when I got it, cleaned it and haven't touched it since. Saving it for retirement.
  20. The 646 has a Ti cylinder and is theoretically capable of having a lighter trigger due to the lower weight of the cylinder. I have shot an L frame revo and the trigger break is in the wrong place to my hands that are used to my N frames.
  21. I am just guessing here, but if your grip isn't really strong, or you aren't using light loads, dot size isn't going to help much. The issue is that you have no comp and you are getting muzzle flip which causes the dot to go out of the window. If you were having problems picking up the dot while it is IN the window, dot size could help.
  22. Lol. I can't find a single 22 mag that it works on. I'm pulling your maneuver and just swapping divisions. Shooting limited for 2013 and maybe 2014 if it goes well. SS for 2015 and revo for 2016.
  23. Where do you think the money is going? I can tell you that is it going to put on a better match for you. I have been to a bunch of matches, and finished pretty well in most of them. The amount of times where I got something off the prize table that was worth more than my entry fee I can count on one hand. Pro am - won a gun La gator 2010 La gator 2011 La gator 2012 I won 2nd master at the FLA open which cost me easily $1,200 to attend -won $50 Won first a at space city last year - got a mini uplula. I know of no other match where you are guaranteed the caliber of prizes that you are at the gator. If cowtown is one, great, ill go next year. Your insinuation is that the increase isn't worth it. I have a solution for you. Don't write the check. Don't send your app in. It won't cost you a dime.
  24. Brandon, I was the first person to recommend that the price go up. I'm paying my own way, BTW. If you have a product that sells out as fast as the gator fills up, why not increase the price to level out supply and demand? That is simple economics. You either have to make the match something that less people want to attend, or go up on the price. The Gator fills up fast for all the right reasons. The best match staff, Ro's, prizes, local flavor, etc that you will ever see at at match. The facility isn't capable of accommodating more than 225-250 or so shooters so it can't be opened up to any more than that. Brandon, you of all people, know the people in charge of putting that match on. So you think they are pocketing the money? Hell no, they are spending every penny to put on an even better match and prize table for YOU and me and everybody else. A person with your skills should appreciate a very, very, deeeeeeeeep prize table. Let me be the first one to make the recommendation again, if it fills up in two weeks again, go up again.
