  1. If you want it to run out of the box and have little reservations about your purchase... +1 If you have the ammo to run 2k through it before you trust it ... +1 If a gun runs, it runs. Some take more work than others though Not at all saying a JP won't run, just saying Colt and Bravo are should be on the shortlist for go to guns. Bravo offers quite a few uppers could be easily setup for 3 gun. Here's a 18" SS 1:8 twist with a VTAC Troy Rail. Local club only does 0-200 and hoser stages? They have 14.5" middies too.
  2. I live aprx 6-9 miles from colt factory and it is illegal for me to own one Wow. Makes sense why they are moving to Florida.
  3. Not all Gortex but the Sphinx Halfshell does tuck. But it's pricy. Here's a link to a review. There is a hoodless version for less.
  4. 3 gun is still not quite in full swing here, but this is what I do to stay in shape. 3 to 5 mile run for the lungs, heart, mind. Various styles of squats or sprinting for some explosive movement. Arm excercises. I do a rotation of chest/triceps, back/biceps, and shoulders. Situps and plank pushups for core strength. Stretching arms, legs, and core. Works for me. YMMV
  5. Why would you want to practice a standing reload? To make it flow better I would distribute your steel next to each target array and say that each target array's steel must be engaged from the box. That would be more realistic. I wouldn't shoot on the move unless I had a place I needed to get to... And if the goal is practice, you need to make it more symmetrical.
  6. Hello: That is not a case feeder plate I put them in a 4 drawer metal filing cabinet with all the rest of the stuff. Thanks, Eric missed the feeder part. move along, folks, move along, nothing to see here.
  7. I was originally all for 15 rounds, but now that I look back on it through the window of the 8 rounds per position rule it's not such a big deal to me.
  8. Would have been better had I not missed a shot on that 2nd swinger. Conceptually I knew I should have dropped yellow and green first (they were the activators) so the swingers would have slowed down by the end, but my ingrained star technique blanked my mind when the buzzer went off.
  9. Different states have different hunting laws... not the quite the same just saying I think with careful crafting of new classifiers to make it so mag capacity over 10 is no advantage (mandatory mag changes are the norm for most classifiers I've shot anyways) and some pruning of old ones, we could probably get rid of Limited 10 and cap Production at 15 rounds. If you normally travel from a tyrannical common-wealth to a free-state, make buddies or keep some tuned mags in a safe deposit box just over state lines. Serious competitors will find a way to make it work, people who only shoot local will still be relevant nationally with classifiers. And what about major matches? Should we buy mags and have them shipped to the hotel so we can use them there? Wouldn't be illegal. I think Vendors at major matches would also step up in this regard too.

  11. I have this bench in my basement. It's left and back edge is in a corner. I have a swivel vice on the right side (maybe 6" from the edge) so I can use it facing the table long ways or short ways. Just left of that is my 550b. The bench is tall enough that I can stand up and reload without having the need of a strong mount. To the left of the 550b is my tools/cleaning/primerloading/work area. Works alright for me. If anyone wants pictures let me know.
  12. We had an interesting one. Shoot any color on the tx star in box b, then shoot same color on the plate rack in between box b and box c, then shoot the same color popper in box c and at least engage a swinger if activated, rinse repeat. I'm the last one. I got winded, but I wasn't the only one who did.
  13. I just watched this video. The dude seems pretty squared away. But what really struck me was the arc concept and where the trigger should break. It's around 9:30 if you want to get to the good stuff. Seems relative to your situation here. I haven't had a chance to sort it out myself on the range as I just saw it today, but it seems worth looking at. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nlAmKLDT0E
  14. In terms of vendors, BCM is a good company that many advocate for on one of 'those' forums. But when you look at their example setups, they look game worthy to me. Throw a Deuck or a KAC 45° Offset, an SSA, and a Muzzle Brake on it and it would be a great 3-gun rifle.
  15. Yeah... my father always said "beware the woman who tells her husband he can only have one gun" Indeed. She knows how to use her man. At least I got her talked into one firarm of each major category though. Bolt gun is next
  16. This is my only AR that I purchased to be my only AR until the wife allows more. It's a Colt LE6940, so it's a monolithic freefloat upper. I like the PWS flash hider/muzzle brake. It's only marginally brighter than an A2, but keeps the gun much flatter. The SSA I put in it is very nice. Since this picture was taken I have added a Gen2 MBUS that fits right perfect under the 1-4x Accupoint. It needs a light and Iowa needs to change it's laws so I can cut it to 14.5" without pinning something to the muzzle. I would be first in line if Colt was smart enough to make a 16" midlength version. Other than that, I think it's perfect for our 3-gun range which goes out to 300 yards at the most. I think it would do well enough in SHTF, if not I'd change it. My pistol is a G17 and my shotgun is a M590. Yea I'm not the fastest guy out there, but my guns don't need much maitenance and are not finickey about ammo, and have acceptable accuracy. Ergonomics on each is supperb and so is the weight. My father always said: Beware the man with one gun, he knows how to realy use it.
  17. I find 50/50 nylon cotton ripstop to be the best for summer clothing. It seems to be the best balance between durability and shedding heat. For cooler weather I go for the go for the old standby.
  18. 10-8 makes a cost effective sight in kit. If you haven't already ordered your rear sight just order it at the same time.
  19. Duty One is undercut with 30 LPI stippling. Shooters Connection can get you a bushing version if you need that for IDPA or Single Stack instead of L10. Another option is to get a new production Colt Series 70(no FPB) and send it in for their Tactical Package.
  20. One thing, the new Gen4 trigger bar has a nub that rides on the inside of the slide next to the firing pin block and some people claim it drags on the slide while in recoil. You could try a Gen3 trigger bar if you have a spare.
  21. I have somewhat flat arches and I like my North Face HedgeHogs. I've had two pairs of the Hedgehogs now, I had an early version and liked them well enough to try the 3rd version. They are fairly sneakeresque trail runners with Gore-Tex liners. That really helps in the wet grass and snow. But if you live some where dry, I've heard the Merrel Moab Ventilators are nice for the price. I'd say if you have flat arch issues, trail runners/low top hikers are going to feel better on your feet than more racey type shoes, but that's just been my experience. As for actual race type shoes, ASICS have always fit me best in running shoes, so maybe you should try some of their soccer shoes. But a lot of people with low arches also like New Balance, although I have no first hand experience.
  22. I guess I don't mind that either. But then you are going to find that the preferred pistol of choice in the 'new' ESP becomes the 9mm 1911 or the CZ. Glocks, M&P, and XDs will fall to the wayside. I'm imagining much the same way those type of pistols were eschewed before the advent of production division in USPSA. Not that I was around or anything...
