  1. About the weight. From this Article at m1911.org we can confirm that the rail gun has a GI guide rod and nylon MSH and weighs in at 37 oz. I'm not sure how much a Smith and Alexander MSH+Mag Well weighs, but you could just add a TechWell, the heaviest of which is 1.2 oz.
  2. Long thread short, Get a Gen3 or a Gen3 SF depending on your hand size. Shoot the Bejebus out of it for a summer and then decide to keep it or sell it for something else. I had to do with with 4 guns. I went HK USP 45, CZ SPO1, Glock Gen3 17, Glock Gen4 17. Now I'm pretty happy because I've had enough experience to what I like and why.
  3. I'm no expert but the FLGR is pretty cheap to replace with a GI setup as long as you don't have to change the bushing right?
  4. ETA: the Duty One also has a 5" bull barrel, making it illegal for USPSA single stack. I suppose I could always shoot L10. That's a compromise I'll have to consider. I was cruising around one day and saw that shooter's connection has a Special Order Duty One with an option for bushing barrel. That should keep it on your list
  5. I think the only Gen4 pistols with holster problems are the G34 and G35 because the recoil assembly has a bigger radius and is exposed, so on some holsters they don't fit. On my Comptac MTAC slide or a BladeTech OWB slide I didn't have any problems with my old holsters when I switched from my Gen3 to Gen4 G17.
  6. I'm a civ, but +1 from me. I carry and do IDPA SSP with my Gen4 G17 in a CompTac M-Tac slide with a 1-3/4" Galco Belt. I use a slide in case I ever want to get a compact or subcompact. I use a Safariland 5187 and a 1-3/4" Wilderness Tactical belt for USPSA production. I use one double mag pouch in IDPA and two doubles in USPSA, but when I carry I just toss one extra mag in a carpenter or coat pocket. Unless I go down town at night All innards on the Glock are stock, but when I had a Gen3 G17 I ran with a 3-1/2# connector. I of course swapped the sights. I went with the 10-8 .150 rear notch and a the 10-8 brass bead front. I dig them.
  7. #4-1/2 Trigger Beaver Tail Grip Safty with 'speed bump' Checkered Front Strap Checkered Steel Mainspring Housing w/ Magwell 2 Dot (stacked) Tritium Night Sights Composite grips and have both thick and thin available to users 8 and 10 round magazines issued which can be be field stripped easily for cleaning Modernized coated finish Some controversial opinion: I don't think a light rail is necessary on a secondary weapon. Good for civilians, but dead weight for soldiers who should be using NV or have weapon lights on their primary. All of that would be good. Or STI could be contracted for their 5" Tactical...

    Glock Gen.4

I agree. I love my Vickers Tactical mag release on my Gen 3, I just want less distance from the back strap to the trigger. Don't need the new spring either. The Gen 4 comp mag release should act just like the Vickers instead of the Gen 3 stock extended release. Make it as long as possible with beveled edges all around, but not so long that it can release a mag by a pressing the gun onto a table.
  9. I don't mean to dig this up but it just made me curious how the whole Glock line stacks up with the standard front sight widths. ESR- Extra Sight Radius achieved by setting back from the dovetail like most after market sights. Constant .25 was used. AL- Arm Length Constant 18.5 was used. I measured my self at 19, but split the difference a bit. FSW- Front Sight Widths. Standard easy to find widths were used. FSR- Factory Sight Radius from Glock.com G26=5.67 G19=6.02 G17=6.49 G34=7.56 IRSW- Ideal Rear Sight Width = FSW*AL/(AL+ESR+FSR)*2 which was derived from RS = FS*RR/FR*2 FSW IRSW G26 0.11 0.1667 0.115 0.1742 0.125 0.1894 0.14 0.2121 G19 0.11 0.1643 0.115 0.1718 0.125 0.1867 0.14 0.2091 G17 0.11 0.1613 0.115 0.1686 0.125 0.1832 0.14 0.2052 G34 0.11 0.1547 0.115 0.1617 0.125 0.1758 0.14 0.1969 My personal conclusion: Standard widths of Heinie, Warren and 10-8 are a bit narrow as the largest of them is .156
