    SIG 365

TL;DR- It’s a great carry gun. Mine has been surprisingly accurate and easy to shoot, which itself was surprising because I have very large hands- from a normal grip I can extend my support side thumb reach out to the muzzle (which I avoid of course). Pretty much squeeze the hell out of it on the support side and run the trigger smoothly like any other striker gun. Trigger runs just about 5 lbs, and is quite good for this sort of thing. I pretty much only carry and shoot it with the 12 round mags, generally as a BUG to the X-carry unless I’m wearing a suit, in which case it becomes the primary. If I really have to hide it, I can live with the flat floor 10 rounder, but my pinkie is out in space with that thing. It has been completely reliable over about 500 rounds of 124 grain NATO spec ball, as well as about 300 rounds of various Federal HST’s. Currently packing with 124+p HST rounds, but it works fine with 147 standard pressure and +p HST’s as well. I don’t plan to shoot the snot out of it, now that it’s proven reliable I might pick up a second one for training purposes.
  2. Perhaps, but sometimes people come up with answers to questions no one asked. This is one.
  3. "Replace" means replacement of the serialized frame. One would think they would be well motivated to avoid that situation, but unless they have a way to weld a new spur onto the frame I can't see how else they can solve a failed ejector.
  4. I find the Sordins work better than their NRR would indicate, but I always double-plug anyway. I run a set of Surefire plugs under the Sordins, and with the amp cranked up still get better than normal hearing with complete noise and blast protection. My only issue with the Sordins is that they are just barely large enough for my head, which I don't think is extraordinarily large. 58 cm circumference and, for example, I wear a medium size Arai motorcycle helmet.
  5. Well, that's a concern. That ejector is formed from a bent, then ground, steel spur that is integral to the serialized module, and there's no way to fix a broken one short of TIG welding and machining. This type of material doesn't respond too well to being bent back and forth very well, either. I can't *quite* get a normally loaded mag to push on the ejector- there's a tiny bit of clearance- but I can certainly see how a slightly mis-seated round could raise hell there.
  6. The setting on my 6 MOA at three up from bottom is as bright as the 3 MOA at max while the lowest two are similar to the lowest available on the 3 MOA. Using a white light washes those two settings completely out. The sight is fine in full sunlight, but inside a shoot house, not so much. I’ve relegated the 6 to one of my two X5’s with the other using a 3. My X-Carry’s are also set up with 3 MOA’s.
  7. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the 6 MOA is actually too bright for indoor or low light use. There is no setting available that is workable in average room lighting.

In fact this is partly true- current version of the X5 is being sold at a heavy discount to make way for a new version with what is reportedly a different rear sight plate configuration, possibly providing universality for either a Romeo1 or DPP installation.
  9. Both of mine started out at about 4.75#, the older one is a lot smoother than when it started, and just over 4 pounds, while the other is around 4.25 after a bunch of dry firing.
  10. I figure that since no one else has done it, I would post a photo showing the difference between the 3 MOA and 6 MOA (right image) Romeo1 at maximum. The thing is, the camera image doesn't really show the true difference. The 6 MOA at maximum is literally blinding in normal light. I personally find the 3 MOA works fine even in direct sunlight- I can see it even when aimed so the sun is directly in the window- but the 6 MOA is- dare I say it- too bright. This thing is as luminous five settings below maximum as the 3 MOA at full brightness. It is literally painful to look at. However, the setting from level 5 to level 4 falls precipitously. The 3 MOA is much more linear. Honestly, I'm on the fence on this, as I have no issues with the 3 MOA in bright light. If, however I find myself in a gunfight on the surface of the sun, then, yeah, the 6 MOA.
  11. I wonder if different people have issue with red color dots in general. I’ve used Romeo1’s in matches under Arizona sun with no issues, and never had to bump it past 2 notches from maximum. I do have to turn it down in indoor situations. Red isn’t the best color for the human eye- green is ideal. Eventually we will get green dots that are reliable and don’t kill batteries. Current green leds tend to use 2.7 volts and run higher mA while most reds run 1.7.
  12. I can't find where Sig said that, but for sure the stainless barrel does show wear more and differently than the black. Then again, it's not nearly comparable to what happens on the hood of a 1911.
  13. The rumor mill indicates changes to the rear sight plate (and possibly a cut compatible for the DPP as rumored) - one thing is clear, remaining current X5 inventories are being blown out at a price more than a hundred dollars less than previous street price.

    320 X5 magwell

For those exact prices, one can easily buy the complete grip shell with all of the parts for the exact same price as the standalone parts with no grip or mag release. Ridiculous.

No surprise there, the VP9 trigger, out of the box, is far superior in my experience. But the X5 is easily capable of one ragged hole at 10 yards. Work it some more.
  16. Same here. Mine is the double Kydex type. It simply seems inadequately molded to the pistol- no retention whatsoever, and lots of movement. The materials seem pretty good, the execution, not so much. Disappointing, especially given the month plus lead time. By way of contrast I have a holster from an Alaskan maker who did a perfectly executed custom job in a total 5 day turnaround.
  17. Really? Mine is a poorly fitting example then. Not impressed.

    Romeo1 Shroud

I have four Romeo1's with shrouds now, and don't miss the use of the plastic cover one bit. It's a useless, easy to lose, ill-fitting item to begin with. If people *really* need a cover, like standing around in rain in a match, then something like a neoprene elastic ScopeCoat cover with a tether to the holster would be a lot better.

    Romeo1 Shroud

FYI, yes it does come with the longer screws needed for direct mounting.
  20. A slightly side topic to this- mounted the SIG steel shroud for the Romeo1 onto two of my units, one on a 320X5 and one on an X-Carry. No issues at all having put 500 rounds through both, and a bit more peace of mind for rough handling/CCW.
  21. I have three separate Romeo 1 sights on three separate X5 and X-Carry pistols, on one of them if I go over 25 the sight control buttons stop working (yeah I will eventually send it in). I’m running 23 lb-in (as measured with a calibrated wrench) on all of them with no problems. i think 30 is what was intended for the Picatinny mount available on one of the Romeo1 sku’s. 30 is nuts on this size thread and fastener.
  22. Perhaps you are smelling the unpleasant aroma of a marketing effort being tied to the Tomb of the Unknown. That doesn’t quite sit well with me, personally.

Hmm... I ordered two of those in February and they have never said anything other than "4-6 weeks" since then. Now it says "21-30" days. I will believe it, when I see it.
