  1. Not a great idea for those coming to the club matches from a far distance... Like several hours drive. Pre-covid there was a large group of Canadian shooters were foing to matches in Detroit area every month (over 4 hour drive for some of us). Your idea would essentially kill it for all of us. Similarly a large group was going to the Buffalo area matches. After NY state restrictions came into effect a few years ago most people stopped going there and that reduced attendance for those matches to somewhat critical levels.
  2. You're welcome. And there is also scoring... Though it is not that interesting for steel challenge practice.
  3. Oh yes! You can set your phone on a tripod (I usually using front camera facing the shooter to get some visual feedback in addition to the voice). Then open the video recording screen (from the main app menu). With a Bluetooth timer connected with the app you can run entire practice from the timer (start/stop individual strings/runs) and the app will automatically attach videos to each run. If you not editing tags or adding scores, you don't need to touch your phone. You can even start/stop video recording remotely from the timer too. See more details in the user guide available in the app. I'm also experimenting with blending multiple videos recorded in the app. This be in the next app release. E.g. see https://www.facebook.com/eugene.practiscore/posts/1057987515047500
  4. You know, the OP was asking about the PractiScore Log app... The PractiScore Log does work okay on Fire 7 but the app is not available from the Amazon App store, i.e. you would need to install Google Play on the tablet. All in all I won't recommend that tablet for using with the PractiScore Log app. Generally, to get all the benefits of the PractiScore log app you need a device with a good screen, a good camera, and one that you could easily mount on a tripod at the range. The good news is that you likely already have that device - it is your phone.
  5. I find it amusing that you asking this here vs PractiScore Community support forum or contacting the PractiScore Log app support email.
  6. BTW, this is all you needed to know about HF scoring (points / time)
  7. The 2021 Infinity Race Gun Nationals in Limited division is one of the most illustrative matches. Not sure what drove Nils to shoot Minor. He was about 10 seconds faster overall, but even being a bit more accurate (305A, 83C, 7D 1M vs 298A, 88C, 8D 2M 1NS) he lost about 5% points comparing to Mason's Major results. That one M (or about 5 Ds) cost Nils the 1st place. BTW, keeping Nils times and recalculating his results in Major gives him almost a 5% lead to Mason...

  19. @Snapshot is right about briefing being available in the PractiScore Competitor app. Currently this require results to be posted to PractiScore website (even the interim ones). When results are posted from the iOS app, the stage images may not get uploaded correctly due to the glitch in the iOS app. But briefing text is there. And when uploaded from Android images are also there (and you can even see then on the html version of the match results on the website). As for seeing briefings in the PractiScore Competitor app. You can open them from the "Stage Info" screen which you can open from the stage entry menu. The briefing button is at the top of the Stage Info screen.
  20. To be fair, the Commander one doesn't have its own "free" app, though it is available, it's just you'd have to wait 8..10 weeks with the current shortage of the electronic components. The sooner you order the sooner you get it. Also Commander been on the market for over two years now and with the other timers you betting on the manufacturer's reputation.
  21. Fair enough. Though in my experience the manual doesn't really give you a real feeling how easy to operate device. For the record, I worked with both manufacturers and handled both devices. Eg. the Commander has 7 menus and CE PT one has 14. Clicking trough them all gets really boring. Also, I'm curious what feeling you've got from the manual in regards to how easy is to review 50 strings from the CE PT memory? On Commander it is a one button push and you see 3 strings side by side... Perhaps it is disappointing, but what would you do when your practice session is longer than 50 strings? Besides, how long can you remember the actual context of those 50 strings? Such as what drill, what shooter, misses/hits, etc... I've used both Commander and CE PT bluetooth timers for my range practice. No real difference to me. When practicing alone, having timer on a belt magnet or on a barrel nearby worked fine, and with multiple people, absence of the clip is not an issue. Though Commander is a much smaller device, takes less space in the range bag and fits into any pocket. As for the strings memory... I have the timer connected with the PractiScore Log app running on my phone for the whole practice duration. I rarely need to review times, because the app announces times verbally, keeps an unlimited log of the strings and allows to annotate individual strings with tags to indicate drills, shooters, firearms and other things, as well as link the scores. It is not a free app, but you only pay for it once and it supports all Bluetooth timers, including Commander, Rangetech, M1A2, CE PT, etc. The app also gives some fancy ways to compare strings and other stuff.
  22. There is a belt clip for Commander with a hinge, which addresses that issue https://shooterstoolbox.com/product/timer-clip-for-amg-lab-commander-timer/
  23. What are you hoping to find in the manual?
  24. Assuming what? Normally postal matches are posted for all. Including the intl match. But BC guys are special... And no, I'm not driving for 3 hours to shoot "from the box" stages. Those I can setup at my home range.
  25. It also doesn't help that they didn't post CDN regionals match stages anywhere and only hand them over to selected people.
