  1. There are few things you should do on Kindles right away. https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/06/28/fire-tablet-slow-performance-speed-guide/ And if you are somewhat tech-savvy and not afraid to experiment with things, there is more could be done about Fire tablet annoyances. Take a look at the "Fire Toolbox" tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/windows-tool-fire-toolbox-v11-0.3889604/
  2. Okay. Glad to hear that. If you will come up with something. Let me know. Can also email that at support@practiscore.com I'd like if you you could get them to elaborate on that. What was easier on ipad and what could be better on Android?
  3. Sounds like that was related to the wifi router capacity. You may need one that is capable of handling 200..300 client connections. Also some tweaking could be done on wifi router to assign static IPs to the scoring tablets and dynamic ones to everyone else (no one has time for that at the match). Or use a separate router for everyone else in the tent area. Some hi-end routers also allow to create separated out guest networks and manage service quality. Though all would require someone with more networking expertise. Not sure if there is really much data per-competitor being sent.
  4. Did that slowed down the wifi or also the PractiScore app and tablets used at stages? I've seen in Florida that a spare tablet been put on a separate public wifi and updated periodically from the private network. The way PractiScore app is designed is that it works offline and doesn't need internet or even a local wifi access, except during sync. So, the tablets don't upload to PractiScore website on their own. Uploading results to the PractiScore website, as well as syncing and puling updated scores both are manual steps usually completed by the match stats officer or an MD.
  5. I see you posted same question at the PractiScore Community support website. https://community.practiscore.com/t/how-to-sync-over-wifi-during-match/2588/2 We can continue there.
  6. Could you give me an example what might be taking longer?
  7. I see. Were you not been able to find something in the Android app?
  8. You mean you like ipad for a master? Could you elaborate why you prefer ipad over Android?
  9. If you can get them and have some money - get Fire 8 instead of Fire 7. A bit bigger and a bit better screen and bit better battery. The last revision of Fire 8 also has USB-C connector instead of Micro-USB. As of the differences... A few things look somewhat different. Though mostly not for the score keepers. Get one Android tablet and try your MD routine on it to get a feel for it. You can actually run PractiScore app for Android on your PC or Mac in the Bluestacks app runner. https://www.bluestacks.com/ Maybe even run Android and your old ipads side by side at your club match or alternate them between squads.
  10. Meh... No one read the tutorials. https://community.practiscore.com/t/how-to-merge-duplicated-stages/287
  11. In the plans. In the mean time you can create "drill" tags for each drill and use those to tag your runs. Don't really need targets or round counts to time your practice runs. And you can mark bad runs with another tag.
  12. Sure. In the app on your Fire device, tap on the (i) button at the top and read trough the 1st section. It tells you how to get any issues with the app resolved (near the end, right before the next User Guide section). Also, there is a PractiScore Community Support site with all kind of knowledge, tips and support staff present there. E.g. https://community.practiscore.com/t/amg-commander-shot-timer-and-bluetooth-connection/653/3
  13. The horizontal mode is for a large display.
  14. @mhoosier turn your ipad 90 degrees.
  15. None of the classifier-to-be stages have the timer data. Kinda no brainer to collect the data for GM runs if you know they will became classifiers. I was wondering why it wasn't done. Btw, fun fact. Out of about 10k matches I've got from 2019, there are 1900 classifier runs that have the timer data. I have to see if I could pull the 2020 matches...
  16. Can't really start the Rangetek timer without app running on the tablet. But if tablet loses connection in the middle of the run, you may not get the final time. I have to confirm if you could reconnect before end of the run and still receive the final shots from the timer. I've got mixed results with that.
  17. To be fair, think of it as a microphone with a button and display being in a separate unit. Time is constantly transmitted to tablet. It is kinda good and somewhat bad at the same time. More over Rangetek timer can't be used without tablet - it does need connected app (either PractiScore or their own app). I've tried to get some details based on a real range experience with this from @toothandnail earlier in this thread but that didn't go anywhere. With AMG timer you can run stage and time shown on display can be pulled over Bluetooth on demand until next string. So, tablet doesn't need to be connected with the timer. @RaylanGivens why I'm not surprised?
  18. Yes This isn't really Eric's formula, but it gives some basic idea what mistakes cost. You've got it right in regards to makeup times. It get more useful for D and M (especially on steel). If you're taking longer than 2.49 sec to hit that steel, it's better to leave it standing, and other way around - for a far steel you may want to take a couple shoots in under 0.7-1 sec and leave it, or you making your results worse. The final time there is to give a rough idea how much "time" you've added to your run by shooting Cs, Ds, etc. There is also a "Time Only" option that uses this math for the results ranking and also shows times on the bar chart. Also, when you haven't shot stage yet (in the middle of the match) - the same data as in the "purple" box is calculated against the best current scores and shown for the incomplete stages, so you have that cost of Cs, Ds and Ms before you've shot (relative to the current best results).
  19. At indoor ranges we are often running 2..3..4 shooters side by side. The RO runs first competitor, then second, etc, time is recorded for each of them and then they all scored on two or more PractiScore tablets. When the same RO is running competitors using AMG timer, the timer can be linked with more than one tablet. The trick is to keep the tablet screen on (use power button to turn it off for non-active competitors) only for an active competitor (takes a moment to explain that to the scorekeepers). Then you can pull the current time/string from the timer on that tablet when competitor finished his run.
  20. All I'm asking is how you are using it all during a real match. You don't have to understand it for me, but you could describe process in enough details, which you didn't, and also haven't answered any of the specific question, other than saying it "magically works". PS: you have no clue who I am, and what I do, don't you?
  21. We received request for new classifiers after public announcement. I asked uspsa folks to provide us with a PractiScore-configured match with those stages to avoid any misconfiguration again. Haven't seen response from them on that yet. See some info on that at https://community.practiscore.com/t/creating-your-own-classifier-stages-in-practiscore-app/248 On a side note, I'm in a middle of a major Android app update. So, next update is likely at least few weeks away. I simply won't be able to post any updates to google app store before that work is completed. PS: I also haven't figured out what to do with the pictures for those classifiers. These ones don't look that well in the app.
  22. Are you expecting scorekeeper to use RT app during the match? I'd really like to see how that work out along with scoring. Would be interesting to hear report from a real match use. Preferrably a day long one. Also I miss how pics, videos, accounts and other stuff have any use during match...
  23. Oh, is that how it works? So, you don't need to know any shot registered then... PS: sorry to disappoint you, but that RO buddy can simply cover timer's mike before shooter getting into his last few shots to reduce or can tap timer against some hard surface to increase run time. And since no one can verify time registered on the screen it is a bonanza for RO-cheaters you that concerned about... PPS: all timers could miss shot or register extra. All depend on the RO position, timer sensitivity and range conditions. Not seeing times being registered as shooter goes is a huge gamble.
  24. It's been done for several decades... Though many ROs are neglecting this basic due diligence. You have timer in front of you and can see on your peripheral vision that time is changing on the screen. Same way you know when time is not supposed to change, by a quick glance at the timer when shooter finished his stage run. You lost me. Since timer doesn't have screen, where shot string is visible? And who inputs raw time to PS?
  25. I'm curious how you are expecting a stage RO to make sure he had caught the last shot with a Rangetech device? Also what "more info visible" you are referring to? Visible where exactly? BTW, rumor has it, the new revisions of AMG timers will support multiple BT consumers.
