  1. Dennis, Here is the other thread on Acc-u-Rails http://www.brianenos.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard...3&topic=396
  2. Bill, All sizing works the brass. Roll or otherwise. But the issue here is that brass fired from a unsupported barrel, such as a factory Glock, will have a bulge in the base. By rolling it back to original dimensions, you push it back the same direction that it came out. This is better than pushing it down from the top. It will also make it so that 100 % of the loads fit the chamber checker. It also eliminates one more potential place to have a malfunction. And since this type of brass is available at a very low cost, it makes it an excellent way to go. Or at least I think so
  3. Bravo Eric! I agree, if the extra diameter give you advantage, it also has a drawback. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. No question, go with the 40. Less expensive all the way around. (Edited by warpspeed at 5:02 pm on July 10, 2002) (Edited by warpspeed at 10:24 pm on July 11, 2002)
  4. If you would like brass that has been roll sized, check out (shameless plug mode on) http://www.competitionbrass.com
  5. Jon, So True! I bought a few items online from a Ed Brown and the reason I did was they indicated that they had a Videki Trigger for a Gold Cup. Well the Website took the order, but when the package showed up, there was a note saying that they did not carry that trigger any more. So I had to buy a trigger somewhere else and consequently pay shipping twice! The other parts were grip screws, plunger tube, etc., things available anywhere. I learned a lesson, sometimes it is better to call.
  6. John, Do they have a web site? post conatct info please.
  7. Vitaly, The Lasercast manual lists both Universal and Titegroup for their 180gr Flat Point bullet start max universal 5.1gr 944 fps 5.5gr 1016 fps 1.190 OAL Titegroup 4.2gr 960 fps 4.6gr 1016 fps 1.190 OAL These were out of an Enterprise Test Gun with a 5" Barsto Barrell, WSP primers
  8. I shoot a 180gr JHP with 5.0gr of VV N-320 with an OAL of 1.185. 11 lb recoil spring with a shock buff, STI Edge factory gun. As I have said before, Flawless. As with any major loads, start low and work up with the assistance of a chronograph to find out what is accurate and reliable in your firearm.
  9. THS, I too have an STI factory gun but unlike yours, mine has been flawless , and I mean FLAWLESS, from day 1.
  10. SC, check out the following link: http://home.columbus.rr.com/jmaass/ipscload.htm It includes not only major loads but some others as well for "plinking or steel plates". Lots of different powder & bullet combos.
  11. SC Shooter, Asking for a jumping off point for a load in 38 super is like asking "What kind of car should I buy?" To answer the question, we need to know what kind of gun and what the load will be used for. A little more info would make it eaiser to give you a clearer answer instead of trying to cover all the bases.
  12. BK, I remember having a conversation with someone who had both STI and SVI mags and they said that the SVI mags were a little better from the factory than the STI ones were. I have had my STI ones tuned by Beven @ Grams Eng. BIG IMPROVEMNET http://www.gramseng.com not cheap but well worth the peace of mind
  13. Blue, As many before have stated, no need to trim. But, be aware that new brass, especialy Starline, has a little burr edge on the casemouth. It will cause it to stick on the flaring/belling part of the powder drop. Nothing is wrong, just new cases. After you have fired them once, they will lose that burr and load just fine, assuming that you are picking them up And if you aren't, where do you shoot ?
  14. Steve, Go for it. But like jhgtyre said, the big poppers can be hard to knock down with minor unless they are a center hit. So, if you are loading your own ammo, don't try to get the pf too close to the floor. And try a few off center hits in practice to make sure the big popers will drop. Have fun! 15. benos said - "And, anybody ever actually tried to fit an oversize firing pin stop? What a loser! I totally ruined my first one by the time I got it to actually go in the gun. I think that was my last one... " No, I have not. I leave that up to a "qualified gunsmith", which I am not I will tell you that when the 'smith said he'd fit one, and I had no reason to doubt him, so I agreed. But since they aren't very expensive, $13 or so, I might just try it to see if it is truly as much fun as you indicate On the other hand, the lawn does need to be mowed...........
  16. Shooter40 nailed it! The extractor should not move at all. You should replace the firing pin stop. The best way is to get an oversized firing pin stop from EGW and have it fitted. The extractor may need to be replaced as well, but most likely just the stop.
  17. BE, As you can probably tell, I'm not one of the big dogs. I'm not even one of the little dogs. I'm like a flea The closest thing I've come to a supersquad was shooting in the same squad as Jerry & Kay Miculek and TJ in the rimfire match at the Steel Challenge. It was my first match of any kind with a pistol and I had no idea at all who they were. I would hope that all the known top shooters would be squaded together, so they all do compete under the same conditions (light, wind, temp, etc.) so it is fair. And if it is true that a competitor is ducking the supersquad to avoid the "heat", then they sould be called out, but I think a DQ is a little harsh. I too have seen the type of behavior you speak of in the clay shooting world. I have not seen it in IPSC or SC, at least not yet. I compete (more like participate) as a diversion form my paying job. I have enough politics with the place I work and get all the drama I need M-F. I have heard that these big matches get pretty competitive and I guess if it was my livelyhood, I'd see it different. But it's not, so I don't. I hope that my posts did not come across as trying to say that TGO won the match unfairly or that Everett was unjustly punished. I was just expressing my opinion that I found the whole situation strange in a sport where adults compete with firearms.
  18. TravisT & BE, Let me see if I get this right: All of the top shooters are squaded together at major matches. And this squading is supposed to make it "even" so that all the big dogs shoot under the same conditions. Well, what if someone not squaded with them wins? Do they not get the victory or does it go in the books with an * saying that this shooter did not shoot with the "supersquad"? Is that the way people in our sport look at it? Do they really act like a bunch of crybabies complaining how the other guy competes instead of worrying about themself? Sounds very odd to me.
  19. How exactly would the RO or Range Master find out that Everet shot out of order? It would seem to me that the only way that would happen is if someone complained. True or not ?
  20. Dump1567, I too live in SoCal and bought a STI CA EDGE way back in January. It is the ! It has been flawless. I bought it from Rene @ Speed Shooters International. http://www.speedshooter.com/ He sells just about everything you could possibly need for IPSC. He can do the CA DROS transfer stuff too. Send me an email if you have any specific questions.
  21. I have only ever seen one - It was based on a Shuemann Tribrid II barrel. They make a 6" barrel designed to go on a 5 inch slide. It happened to have a tube scope, but one could use a C-More if one was so inclined.
  22. Thanks GM IPROD. Will test 'em out and let you know.
