  1. Looks good. Better picture and it might look great. Glad you with a "man's" gun (i.e. a 5"). Rich
  2. Another vote for the Brown. Rich
  3. My sentiments exactly. I'm running a medium load with 175gr. SMK's right now and while I'm still supersonic at 1k, it ain't much further that under mach. Ultimately, in my opinion, it comes down to how far the plates are. Plate matches I've seen generally run no longer than 600 yards. Well you can do that, easily, with a 223. There are much better calibers than a 308 though if running strictly for plates and punching paper. I run a 308, for now, as it's the hard way to learn all the skills for shooting long range (to me, >800 yards). You screw up a wind call with a 308 at 1k...you got a long day. You have a bad position or bad data with a 308, you have a REALLY long day. Did 1k practice today and for whatever reason, my rifle went retarded at 500, but at 1k, I'm right at 1 MOA (factory 700 SPS-V w/ Leupy 4.5-14x). Frankly, unless you're just wanting to shoot a gas 308, keep the bolt and spend the money on ammo and glass. Target. Send it! Rich
  4. So how do you like the Mil Dot for up close stuff inside 50 yards? Seems like it would be slow and prohibitive. More than a little bit. For the 5-10 "long range" shots in a major 3-Gun match a mil dot reticle is a SERIOUS waste of time. With probably a good 80% of the shots being less than 100 yards, the more simple yet versatile the reticle is, the better. Rich
  5. I don't have the 223 brass around long enough to need to trim it. Shoot and leave it. Rich
  6. 1 - Magazine pockets: 6 and tall enough for 170mm big sticks 2 - Handguns: 1 pistol and include a soft zippered case for taking over to the safe area to unbag/bag it. 3 - Ammo: Figure 4 100 round count probably J&J or MTM boxes for 45 ACP as that'd be your worst size. Possibly in a vertical pocket on the inside of the main compartment or in a seperate lower compartment. 4 - OUTSIDE POCKETS: - For tools: 1-2 tall vertical pouches for a squib rod, mag cleaning brush and 1-2 screw drivers. Other one could be for a fold up poncho/rain cover - What else on the outside? Access to where the mags are stored and if one goes with the separate compartment for the ammo, this would be accessible. - Water bottle pouch or another zippered compartment? Water bottle is a great idea, but not necessary with a bladder pouch. - Velcro pockets on the shoulder straps for cell phone, keys, etc? Definitely - External MOLLE system for attachments for a water bottle pouch, timer pouch, "field kit" (sun block, band-aids, etc.) 5 - INSIDE COMPARTMENTS: If it's inside the bag, it's something you don't readily need immediate access too. Tool kit would be good here. 6 - Anything else? A big thing would be to have a rigid internal frame. A good example are the bags from Kifaru. Serious packs and have an internal frame. Another good example are the packs from Eberlestock. The CED bag is pretty sweet. It's size is solid, just a big hole for a center section is all. A big plus that I like about the Kifaru bags that most lack is an internal MOLLE/PALS system that allows the user to compartment the inside of the bag. Combined with MOLLE/PALS on the exterior and it's completely customizable without getting stupid huge. Rich
  7. For the dollars you're willing to spend on the NF, go Swaro or Meopta and be done with it.....for now. Rich
  8. The countdown is on for us. About 15 months to go. Rich
  9. Very tactical background in this pic, BK... You should see the pretty pink camera he took the picture with. Bobby - I know Mike C. has a couple of the FFP, NF scopes in (has since December). Just can't remember the magnification or reticle. SS - Our local guys are diggin' their Premier Reticles scopes. Rich
  10. Redding has a Neck Sizing and Decapping die. I full length resize my bolt rifle ammo...long explanation, but I'm still sub-MOA at 1k in a factory Remington 700 SPS Varmint. Rich
  11. Bart - Give a serious look to the Aimpoint Micro's. Battery life is ridiculous. I use an EOTech for my tacti-cool rifle so FWIW. Rich
  12. Congratulations brotha!!!! Rich
  13. Definitely not the brush. Rich
  14. That's freakin' awesome! I'm not optimistic of the script, the motorcycle helmets and digital faces were a bit cheesy, but it's still Tron. And...no special super suits (i.e. G.I. Joe)! Rich
  15. Butch - Take solace in that she's only a 6-ish hour drive away. I hear ya brotha. Me and Stef want a girl and this is one of life's moments that you look forward to, but hate every minute of. Rich
  16. My Dad stuck it out for 23 just to make sure we had medical through college. Can't fault the old man for that. SC is great and is a bit of a secret IMHO. That said, unless you have an in with the Feds, I'd suck it up and do (at least) two more. Rich
  17. Steve - I'm with you. The 4 times I did was more than enough. Rich
  18. They probably already have this at Benning as there's a CQ pop up course for both the M4/16 and M9. Rich
  19. Ruck March up Stairway to Heaven. HOOAH! (I'm kidding). I do like the idea of shooting FROM a vehicle though. On the bay last year that we shot out of the Brad, a roof gunner position with our rifles would be kinda cool. Rich
  20. Yes to both. Look at a simple Tru-Glo front. Any other questions, contact Benny Hill at Triangle Shooting Sports. Rich
  21. Kyle...I love you like a 2nd or 3rd cousin, but both of your rules having nothing to do with stage design. That's range/stage maintenance. The second does discuss design, but in the aspect of stage maintenance during a match when targets/stands are replaced (i.e. those little black lines we put on the sticks at the shoulders). Come on...give me a real rule.....none exist. Rich ETA: The first rule you cited even says target REPLACEMENT...not placement. Clearly a maintenance issue, not a design issue. To add...in the second rules it says target displacement, not placement. Displacement = target falls off. Need to do some better research brotha...cousin...whatever.
  22. Every stage has an element of memory? Let's try to be a little honest. The walking through the stage over and over isn't to make sure you look good on camera. It's to....put the stage in to....(say it with me)...memory. A stage that presents in a physically different manner for some isn't fair. Got it and agree 10000%. Targets are all presented the same. Which ones you shoot and/or don't shoot changes with equal probability. Just like swingers, drop turners, etc. Unless you guys want to motorize them so that the arc length and speed are regulated to be the same for every shooter. Guess we see why FTB3G sells out in .47 seconds and the Nationals....not so much. Rich P.S. Every stage is a memory stage. P.P.S. Big boy britches!
  23. Show me in the rules where it's not allowed? It doesn't exist. The equity comes in everyone getting a chance to get the exact same no shoot target. Again...let's put our big boy britches on and shoot. Lord knows the rule book is about 4x the size it needs to be anyways. Rich ETA: Every stage is a memory stage. ETA2: The people that bitch often do so if they didn't do well on this type of stage. You wouldn't hear one peep if they smoked it though. If they didn't show up again, that's fine with me. I want to be with folks that have fun and want to become better at every aspect of shooting and that includes target recognition and identification. No drones to hoser "freestyle" courses that are "freestyle" so long as it's "freestyle" in the style we say.
  24. Did you put that thing in the washer? Sheesh that's small. Nice looking blaster. Rich
