  1. I'll add to the debris/blast group. I had the same problem with some rifle load readings and that was the problem from a VERY reliable chrono, lighting be damned. Rich
  2. I'm pretty sure I'm smarter for not watching a show with Gunny in it. But admittedly miss Mail Call. On a lighter side, there's a decent show on Vs. Network called Guns & Gear which isn't too bad. Rich
  3. At a local match, go crazy. Heck, there's been time's, while holding the clip board, I've had the timer clipped to the top and I'm doing both jobs, while holding the gun sleeve doo-hicky so the guy can bag at the end. Anything above a club match, go find a safe area. Rich
  4. our "new" target is the shiz and definitely humanoid. long distance shooting is ridiculously addictive. And yeah...our range is pretty sweet. Rich
  5. If y'all are ever in northern California, stop by as we shoot to 1k about 3-4 times per month. Rich ETA: Pat - You guys only shoot in the prone?
  6. I know two SF groups that wanted us on QRF instead of any Ranger BN that they had. Something about taking twice as long to get out the gate. Rich
  7. The 5 seconds at the line argument works both ways. If it takes 5 seconds while I'm clearing you, it would take about the same for you to walk over to the safe area and bag it yourself. Again, in the Nationals, Area matches and Sectionals I've RO'ed/CRO'ed, I'll tell you that you're not bagging on the line because the crews I've been on, we want to move folks through quickly, so that they can get on with their day, and we can get a rest before the next squad comes on. Rich
  8. Just buy the scope and shoot. There's a VERY SHORT list of gun "writers" that I trust and a good hint is that they post here. Too, there's probably a reason certain shows didn't get picked up for another season on OLN. Rich
  9. For Northern California guys, Guns, Fishing & Other Stuff has CCI & Federal primers at $40/k. Not bad since you don't have to pay shipping and haz mat. Rich
  10. Lanzo - 11X doesn't disqualify him from RIP. All it is stating that he's 11 series and going OSUT. Whether it's 11B or 11C is at the needs of the Army, but in either case, he'll probably be cross trained in both. Too, while at Airborne, they'll be seeking folks that want to go directly to RIP upon completion. Usually, everyone who's MOS is needed gets hit up about during Jump Week and well...11 Bullet Catcher's are always in need. 18X is the SF career path and a completely different way to go than what BJ's signed up for. As for which unit is the greatest Airborne unit in the history of the universe...well...being on the other end of the emergency phone, being wheels up to anywhere in the world in less than 18 hours (30 hours for the Aviation Brigade) and owning the title of America's Strategic Response Force is explanation enough. But if not, we can count CMH's and there was that guy Alvin York . That and again, having been the medic at Regiment for a bit can tell you that at Division, we can read and write...at the same time and don't have a headache when we're done. BJ - Really proud of you brotha and you got my PM. Rich
  11. Yep. Hit both of those contacts including his cell number. Still a no-go as recently as about 10 minutes ago. Rich
  12. So, I need to get a hold of him ASAP as he's holding a rifle for me that a buddy in Casa Grande has bought from me and would like to pick up. No response to e-mails, the cell phone is no longer active and the house phone rang and rang with no usual answering machine. Anyone down there that can help a brotha out? Rich
  13. I'd hit Norco and/or SWPL while you're there. Rich
  14. Couldn't have said it better Howard. My swear in day was awesome (4 days actually 'til that day) and to this day feel it was the greatest thing I have done (until July 11th, when I married my best friend). Rich
  15. When you get to the Meopta on the Larue mount with the Cat Tail...you'll know it's the best one there...of course I'm biased. Rich
  16. B.J. - If you want some questions answered about RIP vs. tabbing out Ranger feel free to PM or e-mail. I was the medic at Regiment for a bit and between that and my time at the greatest Division/military unit in the history of the universe (82nd Airborne Division, a.k.a. America's Strategic Response Force/The World's ONLY All Airborne Division) I can make some suggestions based upon your career goals. Rich
  17. A personal favorite from my Sociology class:
  18. Make sure your weekend includes me winning something in the raffle. I'm kidding. BTW, let Francisco know that the bracelet came out cool. It's a little big, but no "big" deal there. I'll be order a couple more soon. Check's in the mail. Rich
  19. No bagging on the line, when I'm RO'ing. I patiently and graciously point you in the direction of the safe area that we have at basically EVERY bay and let you know you can do it over there. Worst range I've ever seen still has one ever 2-3 bays apart. Or...carry it. No conditions are worse than shooting at Washoe range in Reno. 1998 Area 1 we just used the shower caps from the hotel. Of course...it helps having guns built by gunsmiths that can make a gun run in just about anything. Rich
  20. I'd say price first. Illumination second. Glass clarity is a non-factor (comparatively). Rich
  21. Yep. You're fine. As for not shipping at the UPS Store...hmmm....guess it comes down to how you ship it and whether or not you tell them what's in the box. Rich ETA: I've shipped ammo via UPS/FedEx from my office.
  22. Freedom Gunworks, Forum Sponsor/Vendor has primers in stock as well. Rich
