  1. I totally get it... I've heard the slight magnification doesn't really bother some folks, but for me it's a deal-breaker. I had and ran the original pre89k serial MRO for a while, so I do have some experience running the MRO's... and those older ones were definitely worse than the newer ones for sure, but there's still some magnification present, and just looking through it at arms length was all I needed to know it's a no-go for me. For me, having the magnification in one eye with both eyes open gives me a slight "seasick" feeling, and at its worst, sometimes I see double. It especially messes with me when I transition to my non-dominant eye, like when "bumping shoulders" or going weak-side (which I do a lot because I choose not to run an offset sight). I actually do think I'd notice it even if I was unaware of it, because something would look/feel wonky to me. It's funny, I was really hoping they'd fixed them because it seems silly to be running a "ghetto" Holosun on a Gucci'd out rifle... but the MRO won't work for me, so ghetto it is lol!
  2. Bummer. Ordered one: still has magnification and isn’t 1X, also the dot is more yellow than green which doesn’t pick up as fast for my eyes. FWIW, I was told the newer MRO HD released at Shot Show last month finally fixed the magnification issues, but who knows when we’ll see a green reticle version...
  3. Well, since nobody in my area had one to look at/check out, and nobody around here had any info, I ordered one (well, actually 2, but I'll get into that in a second lol)... won't bore anyone with suspense, it's already been sent back. Quicky verdict is: I wasn't very impressed, not for me, sticking with Holosun for now. YMMV. ...beware if you order from Amazon, the first one I ordered (then returned) supposedly was a return from either Trijicon themselves or a reputable dealer with just "a few cosmetic scratches", I received a total piece of crap counterfeit fake... that wasn't even a green dot, it was red lol!
  4. Totally agree. If I was reloading I might get into that. However, that said, from what I've seen at matches, I think specifically with the MPX playing with load/PF, gas, and/or springs is what's mostly responsible for them getting a bad reputation for poor reliability... running factory stuff at 145-150pf the MPX still shoots as soft (or softer) as guys with blowback guns running 125-130pf. FWIW, I've seen a lot of issues and headaches occur when MPX guys start chasing the power factor floor, YMMV
  5. ^^^ IMHO, I think you nailed it, the MPX’s recoil impulse is just lot more forgiving of when one’s mount/grip isn’t textbook. As an example: if you just hold an MPX out off your body and fire (even one-handed like a pistol) they actually cycle pretty darn similar to shouldering it. Blowback AR9’s, even well dialed ones, seem to move back and forth a bunch more... The MPX route is definitely pricey, but comparatively, really dialing an AR9 like with the latest short-stroke JP SCS w/ a few or more tungsten weights to recoil almost the same way (but still not quite as soft) isn’t exactly cheap either lol
  6. Checked out the vid... then watched your MPX/AR9 shots a few times at 0.25 speed... Not sure if you noticed, but you were standing just a little closer to the target with the AR9, and at 0.25 speed, it looks like the MPX moved a tad less (more a quick up/down whereas the AR9 went up/back and forth then down). IDK, looked to me like the MPX did better, bet if you'd fired the AR9 first before the MPX, the differences might've turned out to be more apparent (and/or once you've got more time behind the newer-to-you MPX)..? edit: Also noticed your support-arm looked more relaxed and less straightened out with the MPX vs AR9.
  7. I own/use a Holosun HE403GL-GR and it’s been great, but it’s obviously not as bomb-proof as the Trijicon... really the only reason I’m looking to possibly upgrade is to hopefully future-proof myself from breaking it and then having to get used to something else. Looks like Holosun has discontinued their enclosed green dot sights w/ side-load/cap batteries and w/o solar and “auto brightness mode” which I prefer. IMHO, Holosun’s “battery tray” models aren’t as robust as the “side-load/cap” models because they’re one stripped cheap little screw from being useless, and I find the “auto brightness” annoying and too easy to accidentally turn on, so I prefer the models without it.
  8. Posted this in the Technical/Gear area, but figure some of you folks might have some info: Looking at getting an MRO with the Green dot (I have an astigmatism, so green works best for my eyes)... thoughts? I had an early red MRO that I absolutely hated and promptly got rid of because it had some noticeable magnification and wasn’t a true 1x, but I hear the newer ones (and green ones) are cured of that, true? Also, the battery life looks pretty short, I’m not too concerned about that because batteries are cheap and plentiful, but I’ve read they can go dead after only a couple days when accidentally left on at the higher settings, and mine will probably be parked at “5” (1 down from max) most of the time... has it been a problem for anybody, or has been changing out batteries often been a hassle? I currently run a Holosun T1-style sight that’s been great (and batteries last and last because of the “shake awake” feature when I forget to turn it off), and I don’t really need to switch, but I do like how the Trijicon is so much more robust as far as getting knocked around and beat up... but moving to the MRO won’t really be an upgrade if there are other issues that make it a PITA... Thanks.

  10. I got some new sights from Dave Sevigny (Sevigny Performance) that came with optional black inserts... Looks like here is your jam: https://sevignyperformance.com/product/fiber-optic-rods/
  11. FWIW, Sig CS got back to me about the correct barrel screw torque for the PCC model: 30 inch pounds! (so not 40 like the older Gen’s, AND not 20-25 like the newest manual says lol )
  12. If you can get used to keeping both eyes open, I’d say mid way up the rail is probably best because it’ll be more generous on head placement... That said, with the MRO specifically, I’ve found they work best back towards your eye more so than other dots, let’s you take more advantage of the larger objective lens (especially if you tend to revert to closing an eye) and seems to mitigate some of the slight magnification the MRO’s tend to have.
  13. I know I’m not really helping here with a suggestion, except my suggestion would be to just stick with the brake that already comes on it... being that it’s out there at 16” I’m not sure it really does a whole lot other than look cool anyways (I’m sure it does something and might help some, but unless you plan on shooting super hot PF stuff to create a lot of gas the brake being that far out probably isn’t doing nearly what it’d normally do like on a 5.56 gun or something)...
  14. Thanks for the help guys... he’s just going Form 1/SBR it. Taccom isn’t making the barrel extensions for the MPX anymore, a new 16” barrel runs about $500ish, and he’ll get hosed at a gun shop trying to trade up to the 16” PCC model, so SBRing it is actually the most economical way to go really...
  15. Doh, think I found my answer: https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/can-i-lawfully-make-pistol-rifle-without-registering-firearm
  16. So it'd be legal in his own state? I don't think SBRing it is out, it's the wait time more than the money I think...
  17. Trying to help my buddy convert his 8” MPX into a gun that's legal for PCC (without it getting too expensive for him)... not totally sure about the best way to do it... If he adds an 8” barrel extension to bring it to 16”, then a stock adapter/stock, will he be allowed to use it? Or will he still have to SBR it? Thinking once the extension is pinned/welded it’ll be a “rifle” and he should be ok to add the stock... but not sure? Thanks.
  18. Yeah, I had noticed the manual was the older keymod model, but just figured a Sig hadn’t bothered to update the manual.... Thanks for your help, I’m definitely going to get in touch with Sig just to make sure I’m covered (and to get a hold of the newer/correct manual)...
  19. Thanks. The manual that came with mine is the same as this: https://www.sigsauer.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/MPX.pdf IDK, somehow it doesn’t surprise me that Sig would ship a $1700 gun with an older out-of-date manual though lol I’m going to try to remember to call them tomorrow to find out what’s the deal... I doubt torquing it to 40lb-in did any damage and mine works great and has even held zero, but I’d like to know just in case...
  20. Where is this stated? Can’t find this online anywhere... The manual that came with my MPX PCC “Gen 3” states 40in-lbs for the barrel screws, and was set at about that when I took it down fully the first time (so that’s what I’ve been torquing it to)..? On topic, mine seems to group pretty well with factory 115’s and 124’s, opens up a bit with 147’s and Syntech 150’s, loves the Syntech 130gr stuff and makes 1 hole at USPSA-distances with that stuff...
