  1. I guess I’m just going to try it a few different ways and experiment with what works for me... Since only green lasers are daylight bright, and there’s no freaking way I’m getting rid of the green reticle, guess I’ll have to make it work I guess lol.
  2. I pretty much gave up on red dots due to my astigmatism before trying the green HE510C-GR... I’m not sure if it’s just that the reticle on the 510 is super clear, or because the green is just WAY better to my eyes for some reason, or both..? But I’d recommend checking one out... I just ordered through Amazon so a return would be easy, seeing as though I thought it’d just be another one that didn’t work for me, but after holding it at arms length I was amazed and sold in like 2 minutes lol
  3. Can’t find any mention of this... but anyone run a green reticle sight AND a green laser..? Just got a green reticle Holosun HE510C-GR and it’s been like a revelation to me because it’s great even with my astigmatism... but think I’d also like to try a Crimson Trace CMR-206 (green laser), but have no idea how it’ll work out because seems most guys run red reticle + green laser??? Not even sure how I’d zero them with them both being green??? If green + green is a no go, I guess I’ll just live without a laser, because I love the sight... Thanks.
  4. Been running a 243G/Reflex and it’s been 100% (granted the MPX is new with just over 1500rds), but it’s cool to know they support it and will back it up if issues arise. Seems they recommend the Hipertouch series over the EDT’s. Found this from the mothership: https://hiperfire.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024568454-Which-trigger-is-right-for-my-MPX-or-PCC-platform-
  5. Got my 510c-gr and shot 100rds with the height as it comes just to play with it... I could live with it as-is for sure, but it didn’t feel as “relaxed” to mount the gun, and felt like maybe I was lowering my head a bit wonky to line things up, didn’t even bother zeroing it, think the riser will be the ticket...
  6. Awesome tip, thanks! Going to have to try it.
  7. Hey, not to kick a dead horse here, but figure it's worth mentioning in case anyone else with astigmatism issues stumbles across this thread in the future: it's really huge to remember to look at the target through the red/green dot sight (like you're really supposed to do anyway with them), not so much at the dot itself. I mention this because coming from someone who's never really been able to run red dots, just looking "through" instead of concentrating on the dot fixes a huge part of the problems for me (and is something I'm new to, and am going to have to get used to). It's been an epiphany lol.
  8. I was thinking the same exact thing... all the AR’s I run are at that height or whatever height the Aero Precision ultralight SPR mounts ride with LPVO’s.... Primary Arms has them, and for less than $20 shipped, I’ll just see for myself I guess...
  9. Have a Holosun 510C on the way... just wondering if the stock height is good to go, or should I order the riser they make to bring it to a lower 3rd type height..? Wondering what others prefer..? Thanks.
  10. I had a Gen 1 that was terrible, and have witnessed a few Gen 2’s have issues enough so to stay away... because maybe I’m a masochist, I recently picked up a Gen 3 PCC... so far through about a 1000rds it runs perfectly... I pulled the Timney and dropped in a Hiperfire 243G/Reflex, from what others are saying I’ll just plan on changing out the disconnector spring a couple times a year to keep the trigger humming along hopefully... Gen 3 seems noticeably better though so far.... going back and forth between MPX and blowback, the MPX just spoils you when it runs, recoils like an airsoft or some toy nerf gun, as long as it runs lol
  11. Ordered a Holosun HE510C Green reticle... was zeroing a couple AR’s for work today that I put Green Holosun 403’s on, and was amazed that even though I see a “starburst” instead of a dot, both eyes open was so much faster without the wonky magnification issues I get with the Vortex Spitfire AR I’ve been running.... Not sure why, but green doesn’t bother me nearly as much as red with my astigmatism..?
  12. I guess I hope I come across a Lil’ P in the wild to check out, what info is online just seems like it’d be too small, and think I’m kinda hooked on the green reticle, but I would like something better than the Vortex for sure.
  13. Maybe my eyes are shaped weird lol! Anyways, my Doc said in my case the contacts would have to sit correctly vertically and horizontally to correct the astigmatism or else they would drive me nuts, so for now I’ll just stick with prism/etched scopes until I finally go LASIK...
  14. I’ve looked into it, and it can be a long ride to find the particular type/brand that’ll work without being a huge PIA, especially being used to soft ones I can wear overnight for 30 days... Plus, from what my doctor has said, with my fairly mild Rx and being able to wear the same contacts in both left and right eyes and being spoiled, I’d have to more than likely go the custom route to be happy for very little upside vision-wise. My eyes aren’t too bad vision-wise, just enough astigmatism to make red dots messy, otherwise the astigmatism doesn’t really affect me.
  15. Yeah, but I had to experiment more than a few times exactly where as far as eye relief I put it on the rail... seems like to me if you place it too close it magnifies a little bit, and then if you place it too far it kinda “shrinks” the image, I just kept playing around until I found a spot that bothered me the least and now both eyes open seems ok (but it’s not perfect/ideal). I ended up closer to the charging handle than most people might put a regular red dot, but it’s to not right on the end either like an ACOG or something with short eye relief would end up. Honestly, I’ve experienced kinda the same thing with 1-4’s and 1-6’s on my AR trying to get a true 1x at 1x, so don’t think it’s a unique issue to the the Spitfire, YMMV. That said, if there does happen to be a better prism out there with a more true 1x I’d wanna check it out... FWIW, IIRC the PA Cyclops felt more like a true 1x or at least seemed so, might be worth checking out? If they made one with a simpler reticle, and even better in green, I’d definitely try that, I just found the horseshoe/chevron smaller than I’d hoped...
  16. Due to astigmatism, I’m pretty much stuck with using a 1x prism instead of a dot (whether holographic or projected)... The best I’ve tried and now use (of the few that are available on the market) has been the Vortex Spitfire AR. It’s etched so it’s crisp to my eyes and the green setting is nice and actually pretty bright while having good glass; though, it’s reticle is a little wonky in that it’s cool in that it has the “big circle around a little dot idea” ala-EOTech, but for some unknown reason they chose to use 2 circles which I don’t really get (I wish they’d update the design to 1 circle 1 dot). And, it can kind of be a PIA to get a true 1x from: I’ve found I had to play with moving it around a few picatinny notches fore and aft with my cheek-weld and eye relief to get it to where it’s closest to 1x. So question is: anyone know of any 1x prism that might be better that I might have missed*? *I’ve played with a Primary Arms Cyclops (don’t love the reticle, no green) and Bushnell Lil’ P (small FOV, no green), others? I know I could get LASIK and enjoy all the usual cool pieces most guys are using, but my Rx isn’t really that bad, and the surgical technology keeps getting better so I’ve been advised to hold off for a few more years... Astigmatism-correction contacts are a nightmare too from what I understand, and I can leave my current soft contacts in for weeks without issues so I’m not going there... Thanks.
  17. Yeah, I don’t know if I buy the whole “tune your recoil springs to the trigger thing”... sounds to me like they couldn’t crack the code on making their design really work right, and then there’s the price nearly $150 more than a top-tier Hiperfire that may or may not die one day, but is supported/warrantied... I guess if you’ve just gotta have a 2-stage in an MPX, at least there’s one to try...
  18. Yep, I’m going to see what happens with different ammo... I just think it’s strange that the ammo I was using was 100% in 2 other OEM 33rd mags, 2 OEM 17rd mags, and 6 other Magpul 17rd mags... I’m hoping maybe different ammo and/or bending up on the first coil under the follower like Boxerglocker mentioned cures it.
  19. Its really bad until at least 10-11 are gone, but still really iffy after that... I tried another brand new mag body/follower and it was slightly better, but not 100%... After thinking about it, I'm thinking it might be ammo related, like OAL or something? I don’t reload, so my ammo varies by what I’ve got hand... I just went through the last 500rds of 115gr Blazer Brass and that’s when I’ve had all my problems, before that it was boringly reliable through a few hundreds rounds each of Magtech and Tula so I’m wondering if it’s just that... I’m going to try some of the 130gr Syntech PCC ammo this weekend hopefully, and I’m hoping the issues clear up and it runs again...
  20. I’m having ongoing nose-dive issues with a Glock OEM 33rd mag body/follower + TTI Gen 2 +10 extended basepad using the provided +10% mag spring (for 41rds)... I’ve searched the forum, and have beveled and smoothed the bottom rear of the follower, and beveled/polished the “shelf” at the back of the TTI basepad to make sure it’s loading properly without hanging up at the transition (which has seemed to work for some); that said, still getting far too many nose-dives into the chamber (which jams hard and sets back those rounds making them unusable)... I’ve troubleshot everything and it’s definitely the mag, all my other mags run like a sewing machine, but I’ve got to get this one sorted out because it’s supposed to be my “first/main” mag for stages. The mag/base/spring is still relatively new, should I just wait for it to settle in? Or anyone have any ideas about what I might be missing or could try..? Thanks.
  21. TRUBL, can you share your thoughts or possibly pics on the spacers that come with the ESSB..? I’m wanting to go the SS route but want to leave my reliable LRBHO intact, and am skeptical of getting the DBRS before I know if the bolt runs in my setup, but due to how everything AR-9 is proprietary out there and I’m not flushed with cash, I can only afford to burn the least amount of money I can figuring it out lol... I’m assuming the ESSB is weight-free and relies on the buffer system, so is it worthwhile even trying the ESSB with a conventional buffer setup or is the DBRS an essential part..? (FWIW, I’m running a Foxtrot Mike lower/upper/with their conventional buffer setup 6.5oz buffer weight + .308 spring, has ran flawlessly through about 2000rds now shooting factory 115gr so it’s still “new” but runs better than previously owned/operated GMR-13 and MPX I’ve had, I could and might probably shoot matches with Tula it’s been that solid, locks back on every mag every time which I know doesn’t matter in the game but I dig it...)
  22. 4mike, thanks for your replies, but I’m confused st what you’re getting at? Think you’re showing how one can machine their bolt to lock open when short stroked which is cool, but that’s beyond my skill set, the most advanced tool in my garage is my zero-turn lol! FM Products got back to me on whether they know if their stuff will work with JP’s SS bolt and SS SCS buffer: they haven’t had a chance to try that particular JP stuff with their stuff yet so.... So I’m still not sure what to go with because it’ll be a fairly expensive beta test. That said, I may just try the Taccom SS bolt and short stroking my conventional buffer setup w/ their spacers because that’ll only cost around $200 to test drive, but idk Any replies of anyone running any of these components is welcome and helpful...
  23. I can’t really speak on any stages due to work/life lately, but I’m a believer in stock out as far as you can, combined with support-hand thumb over bore clamp as far out as you can manage, usually for me a little further than what is casually comfortable. To me it equals being very “deliberate” where it’s pointed while my body is “stuck” on the gun... YMMV, but I find if I follow through on the above mantra the mechanical advantage of holding a “rifle” like it’s long, goes a long way for accuracy as well as with follow up shots because your body position makes it easier to “man-handle” the gun and control recoil... Just like with pistols IMHO, support hand does most of it.
