  1. No problem, check them out... BTW if you do go with the CHWPS plate, as if the whole plate situation isn’t confusing enough, the included CHWPS screws are 4-40 to fit their plate and you use those, NOT 6-32 like included with the SRO (confused me for a few... and their website page isn’t too clear about it). My 2 other “normal” iron-sighted S2’s were with black mags and the extra safeties... The OR model came with nickel mags, no extra safety. These are still so new here (USA), hopefully they’ll fix that and include the extra safety because that’s going to bum a lot of people out...
  2. No plates, which is why the SRO is just sitting there. Ordering a plate today. Also no extended safety in the box. FYI/FWIW, I ordered a plate for mine from CHWPS and they shipped super fast and it's machined well and fit great. They also include their own screws for the SRO which fit correctly, which is something it sounds like lots of guys have had issues with... I'm not sure what the factory plates look like in the flesh, but if it's anything like the OEM Glock MOS plate situation, the CHWPS plate is more than likely the better option. (I have no affiliation with them BTW, and hadn't heard of them until a few days ago, but it's nice to get a part that works better than planned once in a while.) As far as the S2 OR model, this has to be easily the cleanest machining I've ever seen on a CZ to date, and I've had about 10 different ones over the years, plus it's a nice little bonus that they include the nickel-coated mags (I guess they have to throw us a bone considering the price markup over a standard S2 lol). I hadn't noticed they didn't include the alternate safety though until I read that... I don't use them, but that's kind of a bummer for those that do considering the price hike. I'm honestly surprised the optic sits as low on these as it does considering the use of a plate, it's really not that much of a difference as compared to something like the Fire4Effect milled guns (which's the lowest mounted and/or best ones I've seen).
  3. The QC10 stuff was first to the party and word has been out on them for awhile now. The Foxtrot Mike stuff is still relatively new on the block, and right or not, there will always be some who see a low price and think it means cheap... but the FM9 lower is solid.
  4. I've run both, and for me the circle-dot reticle, while cool at first, is way too busy for me to track under recoil and had me making a bunch of fast, but sloppy, shots... That said, some guys love it, so if you want to try it for yourself I'd overwhelmingly tell you to get the Holosun over the MRO HD. The early reviews I've seen of the newer MRO HD have not been very kind, and for what they cost it should be all roses. Even if you end up preferring the dot-only, I'd still recommend the 510C over an original MRO, having had a few examples of both, the MRO pretty much sucks IMO, it has noticeable magnification and is all kinds of distorted compared to most other dots out there and I don't even know how guys who run them can stand it... (FWIW, I'm no Trijicon-hater either, I just plunked down a cool $1000 for a couple SRO's.)
  5. Same. I don't think I'm even going to bother trying it with the front blade on there... can't undo a couple decades of "front sight ,front sight, front sight"... if it's there I'm going to look at it.
  6. Well, the 75yrd zero certainly isn't what I would've guessed lol, but makes a lot of sense the way you explained it. Seems it's more or less close enough to a 25yrd zero so it's pretty easy for most of us to at least zero there. I actually just switched to a 25yrd zero a few weeks before the covid-pause-button hit after a long time (too long in hindsight) of playing around with different zeros at 15, 18, and 20yrds and like the the 25yrd zero much better. For me it was just a pragmatic thing: while a closer-in zero seemed easier for awhile (especially going back and forth between pistol irons), there becomes a point where it's just too much guessing between hold-overs and hold-unders while running around on the clock; I finally decided that if I was going to be dealing with a hold-over at shorter distances no matter what, I might as well make it as consistent as possible and just take most of the hold-unders out of the equation. At local matches around my area going out to 25yrds happens regularly, going further not as much, so knowing I'm never going to be printing lower than 2ish inches on close hoser targets and just holding a little high out to 25 simplifies things a great deal and removes a bunch of the guessing I was doing before with a closer zero. It took maybe two practice sessions to get used to just holding a little high on most things (like at the top of plates and such) and really wasn't a hard adjustment at all, and my accuracy improved quickly and I had a lot less holes in the cover on partials and tighter shots. Small poppers out past 25 are easy-peesy and even partials out there are easier to manage because most times I can hold right on the line knowing the hole will be above the dot, not below. I think I was looking at it as "holding high most of the time" as seeming wonky so I wanted to zero closer, but when I looked at it as "way less guessing" the lightbulb went off. BTW/FWIW, a guy I was talking to about it who kind of convinced me to try it had mentioned he had figured it out when taking one of your classes lol... Edit: As an aside, I'm going to have to re-zero in the coming days so I'm going to try to get out to a range that lets me take it to 75. While I still prefer green over red for dots because I really feel the green is faster to pick up, I've grown tired of the limited choices out there for green dots (this could change if the industry offers more choices in green). It's a red dot world, and with the current situation the selection of green dots is just too limited. I was trying to find a dot I could put on a new CO pistol I'm getting together, and looking at green ones limited things even further... so after checking out a buddies' I ordered up a couple 5 moa SRO's and will see how that goes. I don't think I had ever really looked at a red dot larger than 2.5 moa, and was pretty surprised that the larger dot seems to be ok with my slight astigmatism and the SRO definitely gets bright enough for TN sun. This way I can run the same optic on both my CO pistol and MPX because it'll work on both. The smaller RMR-sized green dot Holosun 508T I was looking at $400 is going to be out of stock until June sometime, so figured with availability the price difference of the SRO isn't a big deal... hopefully it works out.
  7. Fair enough, makes sense. Do you think it's needed to keep the bushing from heading downrange, or is just the roll-pin good enough (you'd probably be the guy to ask)..?
  8. This is something I'm wondering about... The "no front sight" doctrine makes a lot of sense to me because I've never seen any Open guy running BUIS, and I kind of think the less distraction to look at the better. I shoot a bunch of PCC (that's really the most time I have behind a dot because my rifles have LPVO's) and I've never used or wanted any BUIS there. Really the only experience I have using a dot on a pistol is a Glock with an RMR I had for a little while, and that had all black suppressor-height sights... I didn't have any problems shooting that gun, and don't really remembering using the irons to find the dot, but they were there so... I guess time will tell. I guess I'll probably just put a black rod in the stock front first and see how that goes, and if it distracts me, take it off.
  9. IDK? $5-10? You could probably charge $20 if you can manage to fit a little Punisher, Spartan, or Boondock Saints logo on there lol! Actually, mine came out better than I thought after having hit it with the ol' trusty bluing pen, but don't know really how it'll look on the gun because it's not here yet... I was thinking: Dawson Precision will make sights in custom heights, so I guess if I really wanted to go full douche I could call them and try to order a 0.000" height sight hahaha Seriously though, not everyone has an extra front sight lying around to sacrifice, so maybe a few peeps would want one? Maybe make it out of tungsten or brass because 59oz ...
  10. Yeah, thanks, it should work, just wondering if there's something better out there. There's no way I would have attempted doing it with the sight still on the slide, I used a Dremel"s cutting wheel, I'm way too dangerous with a Dremel for that, I try to leave it in it's box and forget I own one hahaha!
  11. Weird one here... anyone know of anybody who makes a front sight "no front sight" plug/spacer for CZ's for when you remove the front sight (in order to get it out of the way of the optic)? I've been searching the web, and seems most just take off the sight, reinstall the roll pin, and call it done, but I've read of a few guys mentioning the front sight and/or spacer helps keep tension on the roll pin so your bushing doesn't go flying one day (and that kind of makes sense to me). I managed to cut off an old front sight and make a decent looking plug/spacer on my 3rd try, but it's not perfect, and I'm all out of donors from past wrong height or bent/dinged old sights lol... Thanks.
  12. I agree totally. I think you should contact Sig and try to get them to to replace your upper and get the newer designed/updated bolt system. I'm not one to mind much about dings and wear from usage... but that doesn't look so hot after only 3k rounds on a $1600 gun, f**k that.
  13. MPX is on the Canadian ban list... someone posted a news channel screenshot on a MPX FB group.
  14. I really appreciate you posting these videos Max, it really shows how deep you examine all the little things that add up to big results. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any other top shooter share as much insight into their training regime and equipment details, whether it be that they were concerned they would be giving up a competitive edge or whatever, or that they just didn’t care to. Anyways, you being so humble about it is humbling. Thanks
  15. AAARRRRGGGHHHH! I missed the last one they had in stock by like a minute, someone got it while I was on the phone with them *Update, scored one off of Gunbroker... and luckily reread this thread from the start and learned the P-10 plates will work/interchange, because finding a Shadow 2 specific plate was looking like a bummer
  16. Damn, looks like a new 1911 I just bought might have to be a catch & release lol, been waiting for these...
  17. Man, those Romeo 3’s (XL & MAX) look great! Lots of glass & no bulk. Problem is for me, besides the mount/height caveats with the MPX, I’ve managed to complicate things even more by falling in love with green over red, so those are a no-go for me for now I kinda wish I could unsee the green dots sometimes because there’s so much more out there in red... but for me it’s a game changer, don’t think I’m buying any more sights in red... For the guys talking about the roller-delayed stuff; I’m hoping it’ll be cool because the MP5 recoil impulse is awesome... but I guess we’ll see how it goes when they come available... For the record, I think I mainly went to the MPX because I’m missing an important part of the blowback PCC recipe: reloading your own stuff. Using off-the-shelf ammo one just orders, even match or PCC specific type stuff, can make really dialing a blowback gun just right kind of tough... I kinda felt like a cat chasing its tail for a while because I was trying all kinds of different buffer setups, and when I’d get something dialed I’d run out of the specific ammo I was using, or it would be out of stock or whatever, and then it was back to the drawing board for me... Ammo changes with the MPX aren’t nearly as big of a difference as long as it’s not too soft. There’s not a huge difference between the “match” MPX-specific stuff I get from Impact Ammo and regular old 124gr S&B FMJ’s, the MPX stays relatively soft either way. I’ve been avoiding reloading for years now because 9mm has stayed relatively inexpensive, and with what’s going on now and components being sold out everywhere, this is probably the worst time to try and jump in... but I think for me it’s getting to the point where I’d like to experiment with that part of the recipe sooner rather than later (which is probably a “duh” to most of the guys on here lol).
  18. Another vote for the Hiperfire hipertouch-series triggers being good to go in a PCC. I've had the same 243G/Reflex model in a 5.56 for a few thousand rounds, then to an blowback AR9 for like 5k, then finally into my MPX for like 12k (if it was going to die, the MPX should've killed it by now). It's probably not a bad idea to check on the trigger's disconnector spring every now and again when running one, because that's kind of a known issue that they can get beat up, but checked mine recently and it's just fine (a few extra springs to have kicking around will only cost you a couple bucks). The 24C/Competition seems to be the go-to around here, but if not having the trigger-shoe thingy isn't a big deal to you, the 243G/Reflex is the same exact thing just with a normal trigger shape* (and can be had for much cheaper usually, I got another one recently from Big Daddy Unlimited for $160). *actually forgot I read somewhere you can put the trigger-shoe on the Reflex too if you want.
  19. Yeah, IMO lowering the stock makes a big difference with the MPX... but it sure doesn't make getting the sight at the right height any easier lol (as far as optics/mounts, it's an AR world, so most of them are too high on the MPX). After I found that the 510-height didn't work for me on the MPX, I was running an older Holosun micro side-circle-battery-cover sight (exact same height as an Aimpoint Micro) on an ADM low mount and kind of loved it, great natural cheek weld... but the rotary-knob Holosun micro I'm running now is like the side-battery-tray models and sits up a little higher (about +3mm) and I'm not sure if I like it as much or if it'm just not completely used to it (because I ran the prior setup for a while). I know its only +3mm, but it feels different to me (though incidentally, the higher "+3mm" Holosun + the ADM mount is exactly the same height as an MRO on it's low mount, and it sure looks like Taran Butler runs it just fine that way lol). IDK, I may try an RMR-sized pistol Holosun on a low mount and see how that goes... I have never noticed the "tube effect" people talk about with the micros, but maybe the pistol sight might seem more "open" and finding a mount to put it at the right height might be easier... work in progress lol
  20. Yeah, give it a try and see what you get..? FYI/FWIW, I'm talking about the MPX using an adapter+buffer tube+AR stock... When you say "factory position" IDK if you mean with the factory folder it comes with(?) ...have no idea how that feels (I took that folder off mine first thing and never shot it that way).
  21. Yeah, I've noticed the MPX's dot movement being a little weird to get used to also. I think the recoil softness has something to do with it, and I think you're on to something saying it "does what it wants"; to me, it almost feels like the MPX "sling-shots" or "squirts" the rounds out and just sits in your hands, more so than moving straight back/up under recoil like a blowback gun. It's different for sure. Might sound ridiculous, and granted and I'm probably not even at half your skill-level, but more and more I feel like I can shoot the MPX better the less I try... like the more relaxed I am, the better my hits, if that makes sense? Like I really don't use much muscle at all with it and just kinda hold up the gun, point the dot and pull the trigger. Seems the more "dead fish" I can be, the better the hits lol. Like just having the stock on my body and holding the gun is all it takes... it's the weirdest thing, the more relaxed I get, the less the dot moves, if I'm super-relaxed and am just holding it right and "in the zone" it seems almost like the dot/gun doesn't move much at all... Totally counterintuitive lol. And this isn't really shooting the softest loads either, I'm actually working my way through my third 1000 of Impact Ammo's 135gr HP MPX-specific load, and while it certainly isn't hot, it's energetic enough to run the MPX pretty quick, I dig it. To me, shooting a blowback gun is much more "deliberate" than how I shoot the MPX... I actually have to remind myself to not try and force it too much and then it shoots flat as hell for me. Anyways, maybe something worth giving a try once you play with one again? I'd really dig hearing your thoughts on what a better shooter like you'd get if you maybe dialed back to like 50% from what you're used to with a blowback gun and see how it goes..?
  22. Awesome! Can't wait to hear what you think..? FWIW, I've been really lucky with mine from a reliability standpoint so far (16" PCC model w/ Hiperfire 243G/Reflex), which has me feeling like a unicorn because of the MPX's reputation, I kinda keep waiting for it to crap out on me but mine has been nails... I am actually the complete opposite of a Sig-fan, I don't really dig their stuff mostly, but so far so good through 12k+ just adding lube to keep the bolt real wet and really only one single full-on detail cleaning.
  23. Yeah, I've tried mounting the stock up and down on the rear pic rail a few times now, actually started with the MPX with the stock/adapter mounted higher covering most of the pic because that's actually how it looks "right", but something just kept feeling off and wonky to me coming from a traditional AR9 PCC... all my doubles and multiple shot strings kept printing moving downward (opposite of normal) while I would try to manage the dot bounce like normal looking through the glass, and I couldn't really put my finger on what was messing with me. One day I was watching some vids of MPX shooters a lot better than me (like Taran and a couple others) and when I got a look at their guns I noticed they were mounting their adapter/stocks a pic notch down from where I was running it and the lightbulb kinda went off that maybe that was something worth trying... It's actually easy to see if you lay an MPX out along a straightedge (like the edge of a bench or table), and it becomes pretty obvious that mounting the adapter/stock a pic notch lower gets the stock more in-line with the bore, when mounted higher the tube sits like 1" higher than the barrel. Anyways, tried shooting it with the adapter/stock mounted lower, and poof, all the wonky-ness went away and the whole gun just felt a zillion times better. I've tried going back and forth a few times, but IMHO it's no contest, with the adapter/stock mounted higher it just feels too weird and is too easy to get overly on top of the gun when it recoils, feels like "going over the handlebars" to me when trying to go fast. In hindsight, it makes sense because while the MPX is patterned and similar to an AR, the recoil system is riding on top of the bolt, not behind it, so the upper receivers are more different than at first glance because physics/science. So a 510-type sight that could be mounted lower is exactly what I'd want in a perfect world lol...
  24. (First off, just watched vid #7... SickAF lol!) I only had the 2 Green MRO’s out of their boxes to check out for seriously mere minutes before I knew they were a no-go due to the magnification/fisheye and put them away for return (I ordered a second one just to be sure the first one I got wasn’t just bad luck, wonky, or some sort of QC fluke, and then actually found another one a couple days later in a LGS that had the same issues). That said, IIRC as far as brightness, I kinda felt the same thing you said about the red ones; setting “5” was almost legit but not quite there, then “6” jumped to looking like too much and got blown out. I’d say “6” on the green MRO was definitely brighter than the green 510 maxed out though, but I could be mistaken because the MRO’s “green” is a bunch more yellow than Holosun’s green... FWIW, though you said you aren’t a fan of the Aimpoint micro-sized sights, while not ideal, kind of out of necessity I’ve been running a Holosun micro-clone because I can mount it lower for an MPX (an Absolute is Lower-third on the MPX, so lower is really more like an “absolute” height) and I managed to find literally one dealer on eBay who had/has their 403R in green with the rotary-knob adjustment (think it’s supposed to be euro market only). The thing blazes and is easily the brightest green dot I’ve seen yet; setting “9” is as bright as the green 510 maxed out, and it goes up to “12”! Just wish it was housed in a bigger window... Which is why I’d like to check out an XPS2-1 in Green or might buy another Green 510 when I can, I think going to higher mounted sight then I'd like might be worth the trade-off to have a bigger window that's a little easier/faster to get behind. Though, I don’t know if it’s that the rotary-knob has less tech in the way w/o solar and the other bells and whistles or whatever (no shake-awake, no auto mode) but seems Holosun already has the technology to make a green dot brighter if they wanted, because the rotary one is way brighter than the 510 and a couple other of their green micros I have. (Crappy iphone pics. My kitchen is pretty bright, but no match for the dot lol.)
  25. Thanks again for posting these vids Max, caught up on Instagram and there's lots of good nerd-out info Totally agree with what you said about Holosun's QC taking a nose-dive lately and your thoughts on the MRO mimic mine... I foolishly sold off a HE510C-Green months back, and since have bought/returned 2 because the "square-box ghost" reflection from the emitter around the dot was super noticeable and annoying, when for sure the first one I owned showed/displayed none of that (now seems they're sold out everywhere, so maybe I can try to find another one that's "good" down the road). I've tried 4 different MRO's over the years, most recently 2 Green dot ones, and while I know the magnification/fisheye doesn't bother some, they're just horrible to my eyes/brain too and I don't know how people shoot them. Kinda annoying that my eyes/brain have fallen in love with green over red so much over the last year (I have a slight astigmatism and green is head and shoulders better for my eyes), because I'd really like to try one of those single-dot EOtech's, I didn't even know they existed before seeing your video (I emailed EOtech asking if they plan to make a green version but haven't heard back).
