  1. i'm sure it's been asked before, but how do you get to those .24 second transitions? I am at least double that at El Prez range. (Edited by twix at 3:04 pm on Aug. 18, 2002)
  2. A brief but intense foray into the doublestack 1911 world made it seem alot easier when I went back to a Glock. I like the one platform idea so much for a new/crappy shooter as myself that I have taken it to the extreme (one gun for four IPSC classes). I should also add that the experience with a different platform has helped me with teaching REALLY new shooters and my kids, as everyone starts with a Ruger 22/45. 3. Just made "C" class in Limited. Glock. Made it by even less than 3quartertime. "B" looks a long way away.
  4. Thanks Flex. Woah! Oughta read my mail more often. Haven't seen that kind of language since my Navy days. I guess it's back to the newbie forum...
  5. I have been going to the Silver Creek match in southern IN, but it has been mysteriously canceled, apparently indefinitely. I, and I believe two compadres would like to shoot this Sunday. Any other second Sunday matches in IN or OH?

    I blew my gun up!

Redding will seat and crimp at the same time. Would hate to give up my LFCD though. May not be such an issue with bulged brass on the 10mm's as it is on the Short & Wimpy's, though. BTW, did you have that GR connector in there?

    I blew my gun up!

Sorry about the demise of your favorite blaster. Glad you are ok. Thanks for sharing. Time to upgrade to a 650 maybe(automatic indexing)? I squibbed a load in practice the other day, I'm going to go ahead and pop for the powder checker now(for my 650). Previously I had said (use your best Jack Nicholson voice here)" I AM the G*&^%$^%^& powder checker!" PS If anyone can name the movie that line is paraphrased from you get 5 bonus points.
  8. So how's that open class .40 G-lock coming along Jason? Will you be showing it off at MR&P at the end of August? Tom
  9. Sorry so late, but if you want to shoot production, just download your 35 .40 cal to 125 pf. There is a good thread about this in the Glock forum by Singlestack and CPTY1.
  10. I saw my shots once. It was the second half of a 300 round practice. Never before or since(but I havn't been IPSCing long). It felt really cool, but I couldn't have described the process if I had to. This thread has helped me understand what may have been happening. Thanks.
  11. I put a Bar-Sto in my 35 for just that reason. Why risk it? Maybe just shoot light loads until you can afford an aftermarket barrell, and there are certainly cheaper ones than Bar-Sto out there.
  12. I really liked the pistol work by the Delta guys both defending the helicopter and the scene where one was practicing at the base camp, shooting on the move towards the target. Very intense movie. A must see.
  13. For Limited: Glock 35 with a Bar-sto barrell and CGR trigger, Hi-viz fiber-optic front , stock adjustable rears (for now). Hogue power speed holster on Safari Land belts with Fobus double mag pouches. Full capacity mags with Arredondo pads. Same setup for L-10. Same thing for production except 10 round mags and an Uncle Mikes kydex hoster on a $13 western store belt. Old CED timer, Crony pal chrono, carried in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid to sit/load magazines on. Iced tap water in $3 bottle from Wally World. Oh, Dillion 650. And the beer? I prefer Kold. Whew! Sounds like I cheaped out on everything except the gun and press. I did! I did!

    Trigger Pin Problem

"The pain! The pain!" said Spock in one episode. I'm pretty sure he was talking about the Glock trigger for competition use. Hence the oxymoron of " Glock Perfection". Or should we also mention the plastic guide rod? The stock sights? HTR, please let us know how it turns out so we can keep our own beloved g-locks purring.
  15. OK, I shot a Glock 26 subcompact for my first few matches last year (against D. Thomas's best advice). Got a ittle Christmas cash and bought a G34 to shoot in production because I still didn't want to spend alot of money. Then I met this Master shooter who let me shoot his Para P16 set up for Limited. Sold all my Glocks to buy it. Nice gun, made a 100 yard shot with it once, first try. Things turned a little weird, decided to go back to Glock. Sold the Para to a pal (the "mirror image" Para's was my idea, BTW, they DO look cool). Just shot my first match with a G35 set up by Matt at Custom Glock Racing. Shot a lot better than I thought I did. Oh, the money? If you are careful, and addicted like me, you can find a way to justify it.

    Glock triggers

OK ShooterGrrl, I've shown you mine (CGR Top Fuel Trigger), where's yours?

    The Glock trigger

Jester, you won't notice THAT much difference between the 5# and 3.5# connectors. If you can detail strip your G-lock, polish all the metal pieces. That's when things start to smooth out (with the 3.5# connector). Next replace the stock striker spring with a Wolffe reduced power stiker spring. Now you just made a cheap quantum leap in your G-lock trigger. Let us know how you do on those other forums, 'K?

    Glock triggers

I have shot two matches with a 19 with a ghost rocket 3.5 # connector and a reduced power striker spring ( I also have the rocket in my wife's 26, stock spring). I like this trigger's shorter travel, but the break point is pretty stiff. This could probably be improved with some fiddling. I think single Stack is in the right neighborhood by taking coils off the safety plunger spring, another approach could be to take some off the top of the trigger bar. As is, the rocket connector with a reduced power spring is a big improvement over stock and fairly cheap ($30-45). I REALLY REALLY like Custom Glock Racings Top Fuel trigger that MK just installed in my 35. It is light and crisp with a shortened over travel (one side note here, at first glance the rocket would seem to have a little shorter over travel, but when you rack the slide the trigger finishes its movement and is actually longer than the CGR Top Fuel). I can easily say that this is the best Glock trigger I've seen. It's not cheap at $200, but it's super nice without a lot of screwing around (I'm not a natural tinkerer). And, I can attest that the Kartman is ADAMANT about standing behind his product. The Commenelli? A super senior type was showing off his new commenelli trigger (he said it was $60) to me at the last match. It was pretty nice, maybe 3-3.5 # pull. I showed him my new CGR Top Fuel and he got a real funny look on his face when he pulled the trigger the first time. He pulled it a few more times and when he gave it back he said, "Oh, that's just too light for me." Disclaimer: This is not a paid advertisement for CGR, I just liked the product and his service.
  19. Ah yes, the "Cinci Rug Roll". 3QT, I really wasn't ready to let out this devastating new technique for shooting through low ports, but I thought that I explained how wrapping yourself in the Berber provided additional lateral support AND a convenient place to hide your head while laughing at yourself for how stupid you feel (for what other alternative do you have)?
  20. Too funny! I wish I could've seen that lin person, but I can see it clearly in my mind and I have a couple of questions: 1-in what way exactly does you running resemble a bat out of hell? 2-why didn't the whole door frame cave in when you hit it? were the frame posts sunk below the frost line in cement? ps I joined DC tonight, where were you?
  21. Back to the original post, I usually get at least one negative, equipment related comment at the few matches I have attended. Glock. Overall, though, the folks have been encouraging and helpful. Maybe it's because I always try to bring another shooter, but I think it's mostly that the IPSC shooters are generally cool. I like the fact that IPSC is state-of-the-art but has made room for new shooters with so-so equipment.
  22. I found the old sight while looking for information on IPSC, don't remember exactly how. Came back later to the new site and woa! Great place to hang out and learn. Thanks BE.
  23. Thank you. I'll probably take a pass on the gun, it does look nice though.
  24. Does anyone know if this Smith takes regular 1911 mags? Especially McCormack or Wilson 10 rounders. Any other thoughts or opinions on using this gun for L10 would be appreciated. I have a chance to trade some stuff for one and should get to shoot it in three days, when I need to make a decision.
  25. I think it looks just fine. I'm wondering why you would make a 9mm illegal for production class. Maybe it has another intended use?
