  1. I heard on another forum that Sphinx is going out of business and that production of the pistols is moving to the U.S. - no more Swiss beauties after what's in stock are gone.
  2. There is a post by David on the original CZ forum where he answers this question - he basically says they are too time consuming to work on. I guess some of the pins and such have to be pressed out and it is just too much of a hassle and I assume he can make more money working on CZs since they are easier and faster to do. I'd bet there is a higher danger of messing one up if it slips in a press as well. I'll bet he will still work on one for a premium price...

    Custom 75BD Compact

    What rear sight is that?
  4. I changed the stock hammer spring out for a Wolf 19# on the 229 Legion and the trigger lightened up a fair bit. I shot another 200 rounds through without any light strikes (Freedom Munitions reman and Blazer brass). I might try a lighter yet spring to see how light I can go without getting light strikes, but right now it is just about right for a carry gun.
  5. PalmBeach1, Have you gotten it back from Kriss yet and did they fix the issue? Mine shoots just about like I like it right out of the box.
  6. The hammer spring requires removal of grips, mag brake & hammer spring plug - simple and easy. I would suggest polishing up the hammer strut in the area of the spring as best you can during this process . A little lithium grease on that area before installing the spring helps with friction as well. The trigger return spring can be changed without tearing the guts out . CGW's floating trigger pin helps here. I'd do a lot of double action and single action dry fire before tearing it apart to polish.
  7. It doesn't seem like there is much interest in the Legion series on this forum, but I will post this follow up anyway for the few who viewed it. I purchased a 229 Legion and it is really a nice pistol, I like the new finish, the slimmer G10 grips, etc. I like the reduced size decocker, but I still manage to accidentally decock it while shooting with my high grip. I am disappointed with the front sight as it is only noticeable to me under direct sunlight - that is, with the sun directly behind me and the front sight not in the shade; otherwise it is not bright at all. Sig sent me an email with a return FedEx label, but my thinking is that if the sight is defective out of the box how long will a new one last... I don't like sending my slide off for a fix and not being able to shoot it for a week or two. I love the smooth Bruce Gray trigger that comes on these - the reset is fantastic with the adjustable overtravel. I'm undecided whether the new undercut beneath the trigger makes a difference for me - it doesn't seem to raise my grip so much as it shortens the reach. Although the pull weights are Sig standard (heavy) out of the box, I figure a lighter hammer spring will work wonders on this smooth action. With over 600 rounds through so far there have been no malfunctions whatsoever.
  8. I handled a Legion in 229 today and I have to say that while it was a nice pistol I was not wowed by it like I thought I would be. I liked the gray finish and the sights as well as the reduced size of the decock and slide lock controls. I was not that impressed by the undercut below the trigger - I think it merely reduces the grip circumference and does not raise the hand position on the grip like I was hoping it would. The trigger did not feel much different than any other Sig to me and it may have been heavier than some. The reset was nice and short - about like my other Sigs with SRT. Anyway, I left it there even though I was ready to buy on sight. I may go back for a second look tomorrow and see if my feelings about it change...

    SIG Legion Series

Anyone have one of the new Sig Legion pistols yet? If so what are your impressions?
  10. I too bought a 91154 stock shadow from czc two weeks ago. The test target showed a 1.530" group (best I've gotten from any CZs so far). The 91154 comes with a CZ 85C trigger with overtravel screw. The DA pull was fairly stiff until I put in an 11.5# hammer spring, then it got much better. I also dropped in a CGW ext. firing pin/spring. SA pull is not as nice as with a CGW hammer, but not hateful - still a little creep, but breaks nicely and no camming. Reset is fairly short - almost as good as my SP01 with CGW hammer & disco, but pretravel is about twice as long. I think the DA will get lighter when I put in the RP TRS and polish the internals like the SP01. I may not put a hammer and disco for a while to see how it runs after polishing. Shot a match with it last Saturday and it ran better than I did - the extended safeties were messing with my head since I had to adjust how my support hand grips the gun. Think I will swap the safeties out - I like the extended shelf as a thumb rest, but they sit too low for me and at the range, but not during the match, I accidentally flicked the safety up enough that the pistol did not go bang on cue a couple of times. The competition sights and the 85c trigger along with the extended mag release probably make the shadow worth around $200 more than an SP01 out of the box...
  11. Please disregard, I figured it out (he said with a sheepish look on his deep red face). I recently installed an 85C trigger on this P01 and the overtravel screw had backed out and wasn't letting the trigger pull back far enough to shoot. I didn't need it, but left it in, but now I've removed it (the screw). I apologize for wasting the time of anyone who looks at this post - but maybe you will get a laugh at my expense!
  12. I recently installed a CGW competition hammer on my CZ P01 and everything worked fine for about 300 rounds. On my fourth outing with it the trigger got hard to pull a couple of times and then went dead. I can decock it and shoot one shot in DA, but the trigger is dead for the SA shot. I took it home and wiggled the trigger until it started working again and lubed it up just in case. This morning I took it back to the range and after about 8 shots it got hard to pull in SA and then went dead again. I brought it home and wiggled the trigger again and now it works in SA, but there is a delay before the hammer falls. Any suggestions as to what I may have done wrong in the install? Thanks for any help.
  13. I just picked up a 91154 Shadow Custom from CZ Custom shop. It comes with competition sights, cz85c trigger already installed and extended mag release. The double action pull is fairly stiff, but not as bad as some I've handled. The single action trigger pull is close to that from a CGW competition hammer only with a very small amount of creep before the break and zero camming of the hammer - I might keep it for a while before switching out. This gun is very accurate - it shot a 25m 1.25" group from the bench even though the test target showed 1.530" test group (I'm assuming that was with a ransom rest). It's advertised as a CZ Custom exclusive and the hammer is similar to a CZ Champion. Any way, I think with a hammer spring change and an extended firing pin this one could be good to go for competition. Took only 3 days to get it!

    85 Combat

My first CZ was (is) an 85 combat. Just as accurate as my SP01 (maybe more so). I put the CGW competition hammer, short reset, extended firing pin and lighter springs on it and shot production. Love the gun.

    AccuShadow sort of

Probably a dumb question, but If I have an accu bushing installed on my SPO1 will it be legal for USPSA production like the AccuShadow is?
  16. Well I'm tired of waiting on this and have since decided that longer range accuracy is also important to me (my sig 229 and my SP01 group way better than my Sphinx compact at 50 meters and the sub doesn't even make a decent showing at that range). I got the chance to shoot a guy's AccuShadow last weekend and for the price range that it looks like the full size Sphinx will sell for I've decided to get the Accu instead. I still like the Sphinx and plan to keep both the compact and the subcompact forever (at this point). I've already offered to buy an Accu off the classified in this site, but if it doesn't work out I know where to look - and if all else fails I guess I can get on the waiting list at CZC or send my SP01 in to have the Accu bushing installed on it. Good luck to all you guys in your Sphinx endeavors.
  17. My P01 is more accurate than my P07
  18. Wipeman, Did it come with four magazines or did you buy extra?
  19. I read on SIG Forum that a guy says he talked to Sphinx and they are shipping standard models this month.
  20. I found a website that was selling full size or standard size SDP pistols for about $1275, but they didn't have them in the duotone model (all steel). This site sells the compact for around $1100 so they are overpriced IMHO. So I wonder why no one else is offering standards yet? Maybe they are selling on a pre-order basis? By the way I checked and this site is a US site - they are out of Texas.
  21. That is not good - after sale support & parts are a big part of the purchase decision process...
  22. Pc1663, thanks for the update. Let us know your impressions of the trigger pull with the new springs and how it works when you shoot it with some hard-primered ammo like Tula. David never asked me for my address so I'm assuming (yeah, I know) that he will simply look me up in his customer base - I will be in there several times over the last two to three years.
