  1. Any chance shooters can register at the range on Friday morning? My plane isn't scheduled to leave Seattle until 7PM on Thursday.
  2. Shot this one yesterday....9.19 seconds @ 89 points. 9.684HF...should be 96% nationally...my first GM level classifier. The strange thing while running this was that, as I was point shooting the entire way, I remembered seeing my slide indexed on the center of the target and thinking as I go..."wow, I'm right on each target". It's weird the stuff you think about as you shoot.
  3. I've been shooting MasterBlaster bullets (200gr 45ACP) now for about the last 2 years out of a Springfield L10 gun. They work great in my experience. Accurate, no smoke and very little residue left in the barrel after shooting. I've probably launched 20K down range and just bought another 12K for the next year of shooting.
  4. OOps! Your right...Ok, I suppose I could start a new thread called "I hate people who want to tip my bike over because they don't like it"......but I sorta already said that!
  5. Last time I checked...we pay road taxes just like you do...so were entitled to the same parking spots you are. Sure there's "motorcycle only" parking in some areas (and if they're open, you can bet I'm going to park there) but if they're full...then I WILL park in a normal spot. I sure hope I don't find you trying to tip my bike over!
  6. Sent in the match application last week...shooting L10!
  7. Shot this one today...60 points in 7.48 seconds in Limited 10. I ran it about as well as I could have hoped (and maintained some form of control) and felt pretty good about it. Finished the stage 3rd OA amongst M/GM shooters in Limited/Open...then I calculated my national percentage... 77% Sucks! Unless I shot this and applied some form of "chance", I just don't think I could shoot it any better and still be in contol. I'm about 3.5 points from going Master in L10 and this one didn't help matters at all. What I thought was going to be a good day...turned into a bad day.
  8. No, but I saw him muscle a TZ-750 into the corkscrew at Laguna Seca in 76 coming from a stoppie Speaking of Laguna Seca....it's THIS weekend! Some of the races are on the Speed Channel for anyone interested on how its being done today!
  9. Harley has some nice models (like the FatBoy)...but I prefer a bike with a bit more "cutting edge" performance...like my '03 Yamaha R1!
  10. I noticed the match is billed as a 2 1/2 day match however it starts on Thursday and goes to Sunday (Sept 30 - Oct 3). Is Thursday (Sept 30th) the scheduled day for RO's/Staff to shoot or is the match really spread out over 4 days?
  11. Shot this one over the weekend. 2.94 sec down zero....Limited 10. Didn't catch my draw time. When I fired the first shot...two thoughts went through my mind at about the same instant. The first was trying to restrain myself from double tapping the steel (I guess its just shot conditioning) and the second was that I thought I missed the steel.....i think that caused a slight loss of time. Started from the right and went to the left. TDean shot it faster then I did! (no surprise there! )
  12. Not that I'm at Tom's level (or ever will be) but I also have a preference for R- L for the same reason that Tom mentioned (things seem more "open" going that way). The last time I shot this classifier, I turned to the left and engaged the right target first (drawing into the 'first' target) and did it in about 6.3 seconds. This time I decided to turn to the right and shoot the first pass L - R (drawing into the 'first' target again), then R - L on the second pass....my time this time was 5.57 sec. Don't know if the faster time reflects the difference in turning...or maybe I'm just faster now.
  13. try this..... Tom's ElPrez Video and look for a video link that says "Tom_ElPrez" ... or something like that. My run wasn't quite as fast as "Speedy Tomzalas"...I was at 5.57sec @ 51 points. Slightly better than one of my previous runs...but not enough to do to much.
  14. I thought having a tan was mandatory for residency in Texas? Hmmm....who would'a thunk it?
  15. L 10, A Class, Springfield Single Stack in 45ACP
  16. Tom's bullet is all I use in Limited 10. I think in part it helped me make A Class (at least now after I fire a round, I can still see. Before I was using a LSWC..the lube caused considerable smoke). I've put about 15K though my Springfield and will be ordering another 10K here in the next couple months. Great bullet!
  17. and cutting lightening holes/slots in a slide lets it "function" faster.... so therefore that would be a function change also. Right!
  18. putting a front sight on the barrel changes neither the function of the sight (its still a sight and functions as such) nor the barrel (its still a barrel...bullets come out and aren't affected by the sight that's now on it)....yet doing so according to Amidon makes it a prototype.
  19. I've never really given much thought to this until the latest Front Sight came out. Someone wrote in to John Amidon and said that he's thinking of putting his front sight on the barrel of his auto loader. Amidon's response was that doing so would make the gun a "prototype" and not allowed until 500 have been produced and they've been around for a year (also mentioned that SV was doing something similar). So what constitutes a "prototype"? I've seen guys in Limited/L10 class running guns that clearly aren't mass produced with slide/frame lightening cuts and made from components (Caspian or a mix of parts from different sources). To be honest, I thought Amidon's interpretation in this case (front sight on the barrel) was pushing it a bit (sounds like more of a modification than the creation of a prototype). Seems like Prototype and Race Holster have become the latest objects in the "what IS the definition of" dictionary.
  20. I'm an engineer damn it! Its part of our creedo to figure out stuff like this.....did I ever tell you how I made a radio out of two coconut shells and a coat hanger?
  21. Actually you can kinda clean it. Take a woman's calf high nylon and pour some of your corn cob media into it. Now take some liquid dish washing liquid (I use stuff with lemon in it....seems to cut dirt better) and squirt some over the nylon and work it in....wash it...then rinse it out...repeat about 5 times until the "rinse cycle" looks somewhat clean. Spread out the corn cob on a tray (I use an old cookie sheet) and let it dry in the sun.

Thanks Eric...I followed your lead and fixed my link directly to the yamaha website. Can't figure out why my image hosted from imagestation didn't work....but this certainly WILL!

    New Bike

I had the same weird thing happened to me...when I fixed the link...it came up with some strange message...but still no pic. I right clicked on it and did a "show pic" and the pic came up....no clue why it's doing this. Yeah..its an R1!
