  1. I watched TDean have the exact same problem during a match last year with this G20...Tom was flying when all of a sudden...the rounds started falling out the bottom of the gun...I thought maybe the floor plate on the mag broke or something...his last round fired didn't sound any different then any other round he fired during the day. But all was not good, the gun looked exactly as BB described. I'm guessing in Tom's case that the round was fired before the gun was fully locked up.
  2. What I can't figure out is why TGO-3 uses an alloy frame?
  3. Quote: from TDean on 9:46 pm on Feb. 13, 2003 71. Think possitive. You know you can do it, so just do it! 72. Give up the Glock and shoot a 1911!
  4. Quote: from TDean on 3:42 pm on Jan. 18, 2003 Ya,......that site is allright.... Hey Tom...maybe instead of Zach/Rick forming the inner circle...we should join up with that group in Aus????
  5. Ok..this gets confusing really fast. The "Ghost" holster is made by Amadini in Italy....however in Europe it is known as the Super Ghost. What Amadini calls the "Ghost" is the same holster sold by Universal Shooting Academy as the Pro 1. If your Italian is good...you can "read" more about it here.... http://www.amadini.it/destronsprodotti.htm The minor differences between the Euro "Ghost" and the USA Pro1 (which I have) is that the Pro 1 has a thigh pad (which I removed) and the "Ghost" has a lever on the lock knob. When I got my Pro 1 holster, I noticed that the knob was already drilled and tapped for the lever...so.... I installed one! Works great! (Edited by Steven Zopfi at 12:18 pm on Jan. 3, 2003)
  6. Quote: from BamBam on 12:47 pm on Dec. 22, 2002 Steven - what about pressure in the Clays? What brand primers do you use and how do they look? I haven't had any signs of over pressure (flattened primers or case bulges). I'm using Winchester LP primers and have loaded around 20K rounds using this load without any problems. I've been as high as 4.7gr using Clays before the Area 1 championship a couple years ago....I wanted to make sure I was making Major PF...turns out I was chrono'ing around 910fps....I dialed it down after that...but still no signs of overpressure.
  7. 4.5gr of Clays behind a 200gr LRN/FP or LSWC definately makes major (860-870fps) out of my Springfield...I'd suspect maybe 4.6 or 4.7 would do it for a jacketed bullet
  8. Hey Tom...how long before you change "Glock Jock" into Single Stack 1911 Driver????
  9. Quote: from TDean on 8:20 pm on Oct. 8, 2002 ...you going to Steve? Regretfully, probably not...I'll be deep into my last year at school and a team design project at that time and I seriously doubt I'll have anything that looks much like "free time" until next summer when I graduate. With that said, I am leaving the door open just in case something opens up at that time and I can go...but right now, the answer is a qualified ... no.

REALLY??!! *ears perked* Well they used to...I think it typically landed around January (to coincide with another publication's "swimsuit" issue). I believe the last time they did it was around 1999 but I could be wrong....maybe it was longer ago.

    I blew my gun up!

It could have been shock that you were experiencing (God knows you took quite a jolt through your hands) but when you were shooting it just seemed like you were running along and then all the bullets fell out the bottom (my thought was "oops, the floor plate broke") I didn't hear anything that sounded unusual...like what I've heard in the past with 1911's an over charge. Custer will probably post match results soon...and yes, you won a belt buckle...in fact everyone in our squad placed (which makes up the super squad!) , Rick has it! 1st - 3rd L10 was Zach, Rick and myself...we were all within a few percentage points of each other.

    I blew my gun up!

Hey Tom, having been only a few feet from you when it happened (specifically about 5 to your 8 o'clock position) it didn't sound that loud (like a double charge)..it just sounded like you were flying and then all the bullets spilled out the bottom. When Rick said "Ok, uhm....stop" I thought he was kinda kidding because you just lost all your ammo. So how about this as a possible scenerio...is it possible that you could have fired the round with the gun not fully in battery? When the "ka-boom" happened, you were really flying on that stage. I'm wondering if its possible if you could have exceeded you all time "split" and had the gun fire out of battery...hence the outgas down the mag chute and everywhere else (but no apparent damage to the barrel/slide). Oh yeah, you took 1st Master without shooting those last 3 stages! (Edited by Steven Zopfi at 3:18 pm on Aug. 5, 2002)
  15. Quote: from Flexmoney on 8:22 pm on June 24, 2002 If you do that...it is impossible to miss. I wish I'd know that yesterday! I was seeing the front sight...however as I was seeing it, I was thinking...Ok...front sights on target...hit the trigger and lets go. Unfortunaly "hit the trigger...lets go" resulted in trigger jerk/slap or not following through with the shot. There's also another "mental" aspect to it. We had a stage where we had "upper panel B zone shots only" at distance with no shoots boardering the target...I could make those shots fine (because I knew if I screwed up, it would cost me) however when it came to shooting at 6" plates at the same distance, there's no "penalty" for missing (other then missing) and thats the problem. The two shots are the same....you need to treat them that way. ... so I learned something....about 12 hours too late!
  16. TDean....the numbers are UP! Let the stage crunching begin!
  17. Quote: from TravisT on 1:18 pm on June 20, 2002 Hi Steven! I’ll let you know if I can get another local clinic going. Thank you for asking! Cool as I think Rick B. would also be interested in doing it. I wish I would have tried L-10 along time ago; it puts the fun back into shooting. For me it’s much more challenging, and it’s amazing how each round becomes absolutely essential (those 10-12 round positions really make you get creative too ). Limited 10 rocks!! ...oh Great! Travis has discovered Limited 10...we're screwed! :-) No seriously, its a lot of fun and your right, you (or at least I) really need to anaylze things more (each round counts more) and you (or again I) don't have the luxury of missing...so the shots count more.
  18. Quote: from Erik Warren on 10:26 am on June 20, 2002 Steven, actually, L10 is more expensive than Limited. You need more magazines and more holders, and you may need more labor in tuning them. A 10-round S_I mag is almost as expensive as a full capacity mag. Everything else (gun, holster) is the same. Don't promote the myth that L10 is a single stack .45 division. ...not around here it isn't. Single Stacks rule in L10 and I don't believe the myth that to be competitive you have to have a "Limited" gun to compete in L10....TGO proved that at AREA 1 this year. Regarding magazines....I'm using 5 CMC Shooting Star mags for L10 and paid $17 ea for them...total cost = $85 (yes I've got 5 mag holders at about $22/ea). So how much is a single mag for your gun again? My mags didn't require any "tuning" My guess is he's already got a Single Stack gun (since he's shooting IDPA)...so my philosophy is USE IT!
  19. Quote: from bkeeler on 7:37 am on June 20, 2002 After only shooting 1 match I am hooked. Working on getting a new blaster (SVI) to shoot in limited. bk ...yeah it kinda has that affect...once you shoot IPSC, it grabs hold of you and won't let go! My advice is stick with Limited 10 for a while and get a feel for the game there. Limited 10 is just as competitive as Limited (at least here in the PNW it is....Travis even shot Limited 10 over the weekend). A couple other advantages of Limited 10; (1) the cost outlay isn't as high as Limited, (2) you get to work on your math skills counting to 10 (don't have to worry about those silly number like 11, 12, 13 or anything higher!) (3) your shooting skills will probably be better because you don't have the abundant supply of bullets to throw at a target (4) you'll learn to analyze stages better (see 2 & 3). I started playing in Limited with a Single Stack back in 1998 and when the created the Limited 10 division, I just moved over there. I have no intention of going to Limited because I'm having too much fun in Limited 10 and I actually like the different "challenges" that Limited 10 presents...and mag relaods are FUN!
  20. I'm waiting too TDean! I wanna see how I faired to Travis on a few stages and would like to look over the match numbers to get some ideas! Hey Travis, when are ya going to put on another clinic and show us B Class shooters what it takes to make it to A class (or above)? :-)
  21. Quote: from smoney on 9:20 am on June 18, 2002 thats 23 shots. 20.56 0 down total is 20.56 15.23 -17 (x.5) 8.5 Total is 23.73 slow guy win's but at those times, that is pretty fast splits at 25 yards for IDPA. this is an excellent example of transitioning between the 2 sports... now if you shoot a production gun. accuracy becomes even more important. In IDPA, you can do the math and show that accuracy is more important then speed...you can also do the math in IPSC and show that speed is KING! In the immortal words of TGO...."why go slow?" Thats why I picked IPSC for my game...I'm with TDean on this one!
  22. Well here's a good one...in the mail box today is my new classification card from Sedro...B Limited 10. This has got to be a first, I got my classification card before the "online" database was updated! :-)
  23. Quote: from Chriss Grube on 7:08 pm on May 18, 2002 I have the opposite problem. I can shoot the big matches without a problem. When it comes to the classifiers I find some way to screw it up. here's a suggestion that a friend of mine gave me....shoot the classifier as if it were just a normal stage in the match and don't treat it any different. If your anything like me, I used to get myself all "worked up" when it came to the classifier stage and consequently, I would end up tanking them. Once I just started relaxing and not thinking of it as a "classifier" I started shooting them much better.
  24. Quote: from TDean on 8:35 am on May 17, 2002[br....well,...it's the 17th of May and no update yet......... I HATE IT!! There was an announcement on the IPSC list earlier today that said there's a problem on the Sedro end and the classification dBase should be uploaded Monday or Tuesday.... Yes its killing me to because I "should" be making B class in Limited 10 this go around and I've been DYING to see it show up offically!
