    New Bike

Well since were on the subject of new bikes....here's what I picked up on saturday (I know TGO and BE will appreciate this!!) about 380lbs dry... 140HP at the rear wheel. Moderator Edit: Link to a wallpaper picture if you can't see the above image
  2. Now I find that hard to believe! I think Tom means .070" I had a chance to handle the gun Friday night and noticed how thin the front sight was on it. I shoot a .100" front sight and Tom commented that he thought it might be .090".... it sure looked thinner than that to me! Really nice gun! Benny did a great job!
  3. Hey Steve...couple of "post match comments". You mentioned about tweaking the penalty for No-Shoots/Misses from 2.5 seconds to 5 seconds. I'd recommend just leaving it the way it is...can't see any good reasons for further tweaking the scoring methods and leaving it the same way as IPDA seems to make sense. At the end of the match, you said that since this was a combined match (IPSC shooters and IDPA shooters) and the issue of "class placement" for the IDPA shooters was a problem, you opted for trophys out to the top 16. How about trying to "place" IDPA shooters into a respective IPSC class and going back to trophys by class? I'm sure there is some "formula/comparison" you could apply in trying to determine where the IDPA guys fit in. That way the D-Class/Marksman will have some hardware to take home!
  4. We tried....I think Saturday was Tom's "bath night" and that's why he didn't make it! I think Saturday as we (Rick, TRon and myself) were walking between stages...we said that Tom should have been there...he probably would have won the match!
  5. Yeah...THAT was a great match. Lots of fun...great stage designs....great staff...and very efficiently run. It was nice having open squading and no fixed stage schedule. Our squad was able to move from stage to stage with little or no wait. Often the RO's were happy to see us and eager to run us through! This was my first WSSSC match....I'm planning on returning for the 3rd Annual WSSSC....makes a great get-a-way from the Seattle weather in the middle of winter! Thanks again Steve!!!

    Penguin Bashing

Well I guess that the difference between a GM penguin basher and a A-Class penguin basher.....I could only manage a nice faceplant at 491.5!
  7. Hey Tom...instead of messing with it (you don't HAVE to have it tomorrow)...why don't you wait until monday and call up George and see what he suggests? Place the Dremel on the table and step slowly away from it!
  8. Yeah...we try. Every once in a while, we're successful! Honestly a single stack 1911 gives up NOTHING to a widebody in L10.....it's the person behind the gun that makes the difference...not the gun itself!
  9. Steve, do you have an accurate round count for the match yet? Just wondering how much ammo I should try and get onto the plane.
  10. As a side note...my load using the 200gr 45Cal bullet is 4.4gr of Hogdon Clays powder (about 860fps). I previously was using a LSWC bullet and was getting considerable smoke and marginal leading. Before making the switch to MasterBlaster bullets, I tested about 2000 of them and did a direct comparison to the LSWC bullets.....the difference was AMAZING! No leading and very little smoke using this load. After the test....I ordered about 12K bullets from Tom and at the rate I'm going, I'll probably be ordering another 10K very soon. Completely satisified with this bullet! To a certain degree...I think switching to this bullet helped me make A Class in L10...at least I can SEE what I'm shooting at now!
  11. You may want to print a copy of this out....it could help! ATF Laws regarding common and contract carriers "No common or contract carrier shall require or cause any label, tag, or other written notice to be placed on the outside of any package, luggage, or other container that such package, luggage, or other container contains a firearm."
  12. Hey Steve..have you succeeded in getting TGO and BE signed up to shoot the match yet?
  13. sqrt( c ) is a C programming function....so this really should be: double E = m * pow(c,2); skipping all the #includes and crap!
  14. If you look through the 14th edition of the rule book...there is no FINGER warning...the penalty for running with a finger in the trigger guard is a MDQ...yet we do it to be nice to the shooter....but this particular shooter apparently hasn't learned the lesson yet. If it was me and I saw this, I'd give him a warning first...if the shooter continued to do it...MDQ! Sorry but if they don't learn for the warning...they'll hopefully learn from the MDQ that this is serious business and not to be taken lightly!
  15. To the left (or counterclockwise if you'd like). I find that I have faster engagement on targets if I shoot them right to left....and believe the same thing you do...the first target engaged should be the first one you "rotate" into. So what I did was to put most of my weight on my ball of my right foot and at the beep....move my left foot around and plant it....then just pivot on my right foot toes....doing this means that I'm also pivoting around the gun rather then the gun making a large arc (don' t know if that matters)...the draw then happens directly into the first (right hand) target. Of course I'm not a M/GM shooter so this may not be the best way...but works for me.
  16. Shot this one today at our club match.....in the pouring down rain and wind. My previous attempt at this classifier was 77%....to move up in class (from B to A Class in L10) would require that I shoot it at better then 80%. 6.02 seconds at 54 points....which will translate to just under 84%....hello A Class in L10! My time felt slow...especially the reload due to the cold and wet weather...I'm pretty sure I could go faster on this one in better/warmer weather! Shot both passes Right to Left target engagement.
  17. One of my shooting buddies was using the Precision bullet and was pretty set on them....he bought some of the MB bullets to try out and from what he's said...he can't tell the difference between them. As far as I know..he's made the switch from Precision to MB simply because of the cost savings. In my own personal situation...I tested them before I bought them...once I was satisfied with the performance, I bought 10,000. I wouldn't have made that kind of financial commitment if I wasn't completely happy with the bullet.
  18. Tom....I think it's because that's the way JMB wanted it....8 rounds of 45ACP!!! Anything else...just isn't right!
  19. Great! That I can do! Looks like the NorthWet contingent is planning a trip again this year...I wasn't able to make it last year due to "contractual obligations" (in english that means I was in my Senior year at college and couldn't take the time off....well I've graduated now!!! Free time at last!!!). From what I've heard...last year was a hoot....I'm looking forward to shooting it with the group this year.
  20. I'm probably going to wish I didn't ask this question...but regarding mag pouches.....what about the Hellweg pouches they made years ago...the CSP pouch? Would that be legal assuming they're worn behind the hip and all that stuff?
  21. Yeah I'm using them (200gr in 45ACP)....Tom has made dramatic improvements to the bullets over the last year or so. Smoke is pretty minimal (obviously not as good as a FMJ but still very good) and there is NO leading of the barrel at all. Overall I am VERY happy with the bullets....I've probably put over 15K down range.....its all I shoot now!
  22. About 90.5%...give or take! Wish I could have been there...
  23. That's pretty much the same way I see it. The "big dogs" in the top 16 are name recognition shooters who all shoot Limited as well. It only makes sense to use the same gun that you're familar with....download the mags to 10 rounds and go shoot the FGN with the same gun. As for the gear...same deal. I doubt there are many "top 16" shooters that shoot a single stack exclusively in L10 and something different in Limited (not counting TGO). Speaking of which...TGO shot the Area 1 Championship in L10 a couple years back with a single stack Springfield....and beat other shooters using widebody guns. As I recall....if you put all the divisions together...TGO still came out first or maybe second. I think if one was to look at the type of guns that are typically used at club or smaller championship matches...they'd see that single stacks would be the gun of choice....primarily because those shooters are interested in L10 and probably not Limited division crossovers. I agree with Kimel...hopefully the BOD won't use this as fuel to change the L10 division.
