  1. I get to use many of my text books that I bought years ago. Calculus, Physics, Circuits.
  2. Toolguy do you polish the inside of the action and the sideplate?
  3. Uh oh! Did you just poopoo forged part and say mim is more consistent? In before the torches and pitchforks. By the way I agree and think that mim is better and hammer trigger sear surfaces are harder.
  4. Shooting a revolver makes me a better shooter. Mastering the trigger and the revolver reload and economy of movement made be a better shot. Once you practice shooting revolver with one hand, weak hand only etc and get good with it it brings a certain pride and joy to me. Taking a recent defensive handgun course I was running my plastic fantastic G19, even shooting with the weak off hand the trigger felt like a little .22 target pistol to me after working the revolver.
  5. I used N350 for loading 9mm for my defensive pistol and carbine classes. N350 SUCKS for minor loads, runs horrible and is very dirty. Now if you load it hot approaching major it runs really clean. Yes lots of recoil not much flash though.
  6. Yeah, I have an apex hammer with parts sitting waiting to be installed. Currently I did not touch any of the sear/notch surfaces at all just polished all the parts that are moving inside the frame and it made a HUGE difference in making the trigger consistent with no stacking.
  7. Hey guys I shoot a 627 and I am left handed. My dominant hand thumb goes on top of the frame as close as I can get it without the hammer spur hitting my thumb so it rids kind of on top of the frame. My support hand thumb gets pressed on the back part of the blast shield almost above the bore of axis. Am I shooting myself in the foot by doing this? I have small hands so the dimensions work out well for me.
  8. Scrap yards dont like firearms brass. It needs special handling and it goes in these ovens to be cooked off and processed. You wont get much for it compared to actual brass.
  9. I have a 4" 627 with "classic" front sight, it has the detent "thingie". My stock sight is perfectly square compared to the rear sight but when I installed the fiber optic hi-viz sight up front it is leaning to the right and it is driving me up the friggin wall. Is there a way to correct this? Thanks guys.
  10. And uploading random, arbitrary images of large machinery doesn't relate at all to my original point. That is not a random piece of machinery, that is my copper wire grinder. Neither you or me can predict how the bullet market will fair and neither of us have access to Montana Golds books.
  11. And I do know about growing a buisness. But my rule #1 is making sure that the machine makes money not loses it.
  12. For what? They have X amount of forming machines and they are expensive. They can take out a loan for a new machine expand the building etc. But then what? Demand dies down and they are left holding the bag, machine collecting dust and eating their profit with monthly payments. Essentially you know nothing of how to grow a business. As demand comes about, you either adapt (expand production/equipment/etc), or fall by the way side to those that are more willing to see the growth of a company, harness new technology to promote themselves, allow for better e-commerce solutions and are willing to invest in their product/service. Im sure it's just a matter of time before new, smaller, projectile manufacturers are established and in full production. "But then what? Demand dies down and they are left holding the bag, machine collecting dust and eating their profit with monthly payments." No, if you're expecting your investment to be sitting idle "collecting dust and eating their profit..." then clearly you haven't thought through your vision of the future of your business. With the advent of 3d printing technologies sitting in the corner waiting for us to adopt, manufactures really need to look towards the future of how business is handled. And to everyone sending out snail mail orders; 1) What are you sending, a blank check? One would think since the site is still down and the only response I get from email is "online tuesday", where are you getting pricing, 2) I would hope that no one on this forum would think sending their cc number via postal service to be a good idea, right... By all means, if someone disagrees with what I stated above, prove me wrong, change my mind. This is an open discussion, and I welcome everyones input. You run a bullet manufacturing company? Do you know for sure that you can afford to pay off those machines? Do you know for sure that the demand will last long enough to pay off those machines?

  14. Can the 9mm and 38 special seating stems be used interchangably? I am using RN bayou bullets. 135gr for 9mm and 160gr in 38 special. The noses look identical.
  15. Will my super duper 9000 lumen flourescent light interfere with digital scales?
  16. You want to make the 9mm on the hot side way past the PF. 350 needs pressure to work well and burn clean. Try to load a mouse fart load and you gonna have problems.
  17. The MIM hammers are stupid tough and hard, I will dare go go as far as saying that they are more durable than S&W milled hammers.
  18. Well after more shooting I have a problem No luck with S&W. The hammer is hitting the side of the frame on top, I have peening on the side of the frame
  19. I got some "datbase error" message double posted will the mod delete this please.
  20. Hey folks I have 4k of 160 gr RN bullets on the way from bayou bullets for my 38spl. I will be using the pistol in USPSA production. Right now I am down to two choices Solo1000 and W231. I know that solo has a low burn temp, but I don't have any load data for it. Will solo 1000 make minor PF +5 or so without pressure problems or should I stick with w231? Does W231 play nice with cast bullets?
  21. Was going to ask you if you were joking but I recognized the name Thanks for posting the southpaw revolver reload video by the way.
  22. Could not wait for the Khunhausens shop manual, I opened up my 627 Pro series. After putting 500 rounds through it and about 2000 dry fires I decided to poke it with a stick and see what happens. Pretty much except for the hammer all parts have no rubbing, the rebound slide was nice and shiny with only a tiny rub mark. I ordered wilson combat main spring aling with the rebout slide spring set 12,13 and 14 pounds. The 12 and 13 pound rebound spring were usless for me, I had to throw my finger foward, I have weak(ish) fingers so my finger was camping up after 6 or so shots. 14 pounder did I nice job and my fingers liked the return force. I do not have a scale for the trigger so I used my booger hook reading, put in the wilson main spring and got it to about 10-11 pounds. It would set off wolf primers without any problems. Kinda concerened about the lock time though, takes the hammer slightly more time to fall compared to when the tension screw is all the way in. I have the apex bobbed hammer on the way to fix that. My stock hammer was rubbing in the top of the fram around the firing pin area, It was pretty bad, I have alarge rough siny spot right on the top right side of the hammer where it rubs against the frame. I know most folks here shoot 625's, but I just wanted to share my experience. I have parts on the way, putting in apex hammer and possibly a trigger with overtravel limited since the stock one does not have it. Is there a way to install overtravel limiter on the stock trigger without bubba engineering it?
  23. Same here, he was very helpful.
