  1. Not lead or copper. It's been steadily going up since the first of the year. Not near the insanity of a year ago but it's still climbing.http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/lead_historical.html http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/copper_historical.html I work at the scrap yard the prices of lead and copper have been in the crapper for the last year or so. Atleast 8 months or so. Copper went from 3 bucks a pound to 1.50 or so. So dont blame the metal market wich is getting a real butt kicking right now The prices are low so is the demand.
  2. Try shooting a glock a couple of times maybe? Ive always been told best money spent was on paractice ammo and training. Maybe take some pistol class? The instroctor will probably notice things that you are doing wrong that you wouldnt notice?
  3. Quick update guys. Started using the right eye now Im comfortable and good with it. Sight picture is much better both the target and the front sight, atleast when I shoot the pistol. When I shoot rifles it feel weird and uncomfortable, and no improvement in the sight picture. Keep in mind I have been shooting rifles for 7 years and pistols only for a couple of months.
  4. Those are some sorry looking bullets, thanks for the heads up.
  5. Hmm, how does that shape feed in a semi auto? Im thinking with my stiff spring on the CZ-75 the bullets gonna get smashed up pretty good?
  6. Im left handed and right eye dominant. When I shoot rifles I shoot left handed and aim with my left eye (weak eye). For pistols I shoot with my left eye (weak eye) buy my sights are always blurry along with the target hard to shoot like that. I can shoot with my right eye (dominant) but it feels ackward and I am not as accurate, but I can see sights much better along with the target. Should I keep shooting with my right eye untill i get comfortable with it? My left eye is much weaker than my right eye, managed to get a peice of porclean covered in acid in my eye when I was little. So shoot with my left eye with poor vision but comfortable body position or learn to shoot with my good/dominant eye?
  7. I emailed the guy that I bought it from to ask him about the primer sheild cap. I called dillon and asked about scratches on the powder bar, the said its ok as long as it meters well. Polished the powder dispenser housing to a mirror finish. Was going to mount it today but hit a snag... Damn retired people! Was headed out to buy a wooden table from harbor freight, grandpa asked me what for I told him. He is retired unfortunatley at his age he is always right and its hopless to argue. He said he will make me one. Downside I wont be able to set it up for a month the upside I am going to get a custom reloading bench with wood carving and well finished and stained bench/cabinet for reloading. Thanks for all the help guys I will get my camera and take pictures as soon as I can.
  8. 13957 primer shield cap doesnt attach to 20900 primer housing and shield. Strange! I've had two SDB, one old and one new. Both had the same cap, and it had threads on the inside, not the outside. Maybe that's a part from another press or somewhere else. Do you have a low primer warning buzzer? The cap fits inside the plastic bracket. Maybe the correct cap is hiding in there... Call Dillon or post pictures here. I'm at a loss... The knurled cap fits right inside the plastic buzzer thing. Its just both the tube and the cap have outside threads. I probably got wrong parts from the guy.
  9. 13957 primer shield cap doesnt attach to 20900 primer housing and shield.
  10. Yep knurled peices! It doesnt screw on the primer tube housing both have outside threads. Both are female threads? Threaded on the outside.
  11. Is it really necessary? I can replace the parts myself. I would much rather have Dillon employees crank out more Machines instead of fixing mine if I can replace the parts myself.
  12. Just picked up a used SDB. The manual for the SDB stated april 1994. Look by the pictures this is older design. My spent primer box is sitting straight and not at an angle like the new press. Im going to use this for reloading 9mm right now its set up for .41 magnum, Mr. Enos sells all the needed stuff so conversion kit should be easy enough. I just polished the bowl to a mirror finish in the powder dispenser. The powder chargre bar looks worn. There is a black slick finish on it, but there are scrapes on it all the way down to the white aluminum in some places and when I run my finer over the charge bar I can feel irregularities. Should I replace the charge bar? Locator buttons? They are small brass "screws" withot threads? it looks like I only have one and there is a number 1 stamped on top of it. What exactly do these locator buttons do? Doesnt look like they are secured by anything? The primer tube housing, there are threads on top of it what screws on there? I have 2 aluminum peices that look like they are supposed to go on top of the primer tube they look identical except one has a large primer hole the other one has a small primer. Both the primer tube housing and these aluminum peices have identical threads on the outside. Anything I need to upgrade it? its 1994. Thats pretty old I moved to US in 1995. Thanks
  13. Considering the avaliability of primers, I think I will be able to save enough money to buy a 650 by the time primers will be avaliable again. Any one here from WNY?
  14. Petrov... Welcome to the sport of shooting. I extracted some of your questions from your original post, I'm only shooting a couple of years but I can give you some input and my opinions. OK? I suggest you try the Search function on the other stuff. 1) I Have and use RCBS Carb. Dies in my Dillon 550b. 9mm cases are straight and dont need crimping like rifle cases. Just follow direction, & dont worry about it. 2) Re: Primers- No, for safety's sake , dont use anything but small pistiol for you 9mm reloads. 3) N350 is a slower burning powder then the Tigegroup accoring to a Burn Chart I have. I shoot Precision Delta bullets and load with Titegroup, I like 115's, have tried 124's with Titegroup and both are good. I would suggest you just pick 1 rather then fiddle around 2 different bullet weights when your starting out. If you have a reloading manual look at the powder burn charts. If not, a good Reloading Handbook is a must to have in your library. 4) I say yes ! You will recoup your investment in a year and a progressive press is quicker. You might even think about stepping up to a 550b. You wouldnt need any other press and could sell the RCBS. 5) Sig Mos. 22 is a good gun. If its new it needs to be broken in and cleaned and lubed after each use. They say 22's are finicky about ammo. That may be true, but a big reason they have failures in feeding is usually the shooters fault. Just because its a 22 and doesnt have any real recoil doesnt mean you should not hold it like you hold your 9mm. An improper grip, or limp wrist will give you feeding problems. Give your gun some time, it will eat regular 22 long without problems. I hope I helped you some and good luck. LarryP PS: If your intrested in a new reloading press ckeck; prices out on the store, here at BrianEnos.com. Thank you very much.
  15. Hi guys just got my pistol permit after 18 months of waiting (thanks NY). I have reloaded over 2000 .223 Ammo for my Ar-15 on Rcbs IV single stage press. Have a bunch of questions pertaining to reloading pistol ammo. I purchased lee 3 die carbide set. I heard somewhere that it is not good to seat the bullet and crimp it in the same operation is this true? The only thing I have available to me is Remington 5 1/2 primers they are magnum primers, can I use them? If yes how? I have a pound of N350 and Titegroup and planning to buy some Precision Delta bullets. Suggestions for practice bullets? 115 gr or 124? I load and shoot about 250 rounds of 9mm a week. Is it worth getting Dillon SDB? Powder burn rates? Why use N350 vs. N320 powder? I assume N350 burns slower develops higher velocity? What should I use for practice ammo as powder selection goes? I shoot at an indoor range with shooting lanes very close to each other; running around picking up brass is not really an option. Any suggestions for catching brass? Btw the pistol is a CZ-75 PCR 4" barrel well 3.9" My first goal is to learn how to shoot well before I try competition of any kind. Bought a .22 Sig mosquito but the only thing it will eat is CCI-mini mag which I cant find anywhere. It mauls regular lead bullets smashes them against the ramp and deforms the bullet or wedges bullet at 45 angle, does it with the CCI mini mags too once in a while. Thanks guys, I apologize if any of the questions are too broad.
