Hey guys I am getting poor accuracy out of my loads for S&W 627 I am running bayou bullet 160 grain round nose 1.500 OAL, 3.5 grains of solo 1000, federal primers assorted brass. I am basically getting a 8 inch group at best at 25 yards. I crimp to take out 2 thousands of an inch difference between the bullet diameter and the case wall thickness. I had some minor bullet shaving in a couple of the rounds I reloaded but I think I bell sufficently. Should I mess with the OAL first ? Powder charge amount?

For me using SDB pulling the case off the powder funnel/flaring die is much harder than sizing.

whatever oil avaliable on the FCG, whatever avaliable grease on slide and locking lugs

Thats the thing I cant really get my the pad of my finger on the trigger unless I really bend it and contort it and on the rebound it slides in the crease.

Any one else want to take a look at the picture of the extractor retainer pin? Looks like it was taken out several times by a clutz looking at the scratches and damage around it.

Demo model my ass, that is where my slide finish is worn from holster wear too and I have been carrying it for 6 years. If this is a new gun I have a bridge in brooklyn to sell you. If this is wear from test firing the gun will gall itself to death in a box of ammo or so. Easy way to check is to take out the extractor and see how much carbon is built up in there. Edit, just looked at your extractor retaining pin, the hole is buggered, looks like some one already went to town on it with the wrong punch or something. I hope the seller took you out for a dinner and bought you flowers before ----- you.

I follow the moon clip in with my thumb and feel the edge of the brass and the edge of the cylinder, so far this tactile feel has been pretty good.

I must have misunderstood the rule then, it cant be more than 2 inches forward of 3 or 9 oclock positions?

Hi guys, I was reading appendix D6 section 10, it says: "Max. distance of handgun and mags/speed loaders from inner side of belt Handgun and Mags - 2” I shoot revolver left handed and reload from left side, so my moon clip holder is touching the holster. Is this allowed or should I move my moon clip holder out closer to the front of the belt?

Thanks guys. At the range I went from a custom Ruger MkIII with 8" sight radius to a 4" 627. My groups went from 1.5" 6 shot group to 10" 8 shot groups on the revolver, but it does have an 8+ pound pull. 627 trigger felt stacking and I polished all the internals and moving parts taking care not to remove any of the surface hardening and it made a huge difference. I think I am going to leave the trigger alone for now and see if I can get my groups to shrink with practice. Revolvers is a whole another world. At least I got the moon clip reloads down without looking at em, just do it by feel and I have gotten pretty fast.

Hey guys, I shoot left handed with an S&W 627 with stock houge rubber grips. When I shot my trigger finger always migrates from the pad of the finger to the joint. Is there a way to remedy this? Also I tend to grip the revolver really high with my small hands so my trigger finger and the trigger are not at 90 degrees when I am pulling the trigger back, is this ok?

Hey guys, I was doing some reading and pretty much every one says that federal pistol primers are soft? So if they start flattening it might not be a reliable way to tell if there is an overpressure? Some of my brass had the round imprint from that round sleeve where the firing pin goes into imprinted on the headstamp, is that normal or too much pressure?

I did a search and some folks are running 4.0-4.2 grains of solo 1000 and 158gr round noses, pretty sure that would blow up my 627

Hey guys I am working on 160gr RN bayou bullet load with solo 1000, so far as I edge to 3.4-3.5 grains I am starting to see pressure signs and I and my OAL is 1.5" What are you guys running for charge weights and what velocities do you get? OAL? So far I shot it indoors and the bullet and powder combo is INCREDIBLY clean and smoke free.

I am loading 160 grain round nose bullets with no crimp groove, should I avoid roll crimping then? Just adjust enough the die to get rid of the flare?

I am worried that if I bell some of my shorter cases my longer cases can be over belled. I have some short winchester brass and long PMC brass.

I guess I will have to sort my 38 spcl brass. Some flares just fine other shaves the bullets. Thank you.

Hey guys I am getting some shaved lead from my bullets when seating. #2 station bells the case and drops the powder. Does the OAL of the cartridge affects how much it gets belled? (38 special) Is the SDB 38 special die a roll crimp or taper?
