  1. 223 1/2X28 and 308 is typically 5/8x24
  2. slide wear is cool. or duracoat pink...
  3. Buddie got a number sticker and sand blasted at a low pressure the mag tubes (2011). peel the sticker off and the result was a very polished looking number surrounded but a very matte outline. if you had a sticker that was the opposite I think that could be done as well. I guess you wouldn't know which one was in the gun until you pulled the mag out though.
  4. when you run the new screw in take a file, or a dremel, and flush the screw with the inside of the dust cover or you may get a spring that binds/hangs on it. one of the few things on a 1911 that's easy not mess up w/ a dremel.
  5. glock 22 for carry and glock 17 for IDPA. I like the 17 but have a gen 4 and wouldn't trust that piece with my life. It's fun at the range though. I'm actually surprised that a caliber conversation hasn't started yet. 40 cal for defense but when there are 9mm's "competing" with 45 w/ no disadvantages in IDPA... I guess you all are to civil for that. I personally don't care, just surprised it hasn't come up yet.
  6. are those springs similar to the dual recoil springs found on the gen 4 or is it a single spring like the gen 3 ?
  7. That's funny you said that, last time a buddy and i were shooting he said that he thought the brass was ejecting forward almost. I can't actually remember where he said it was going but i remember him complaining about the trajectory of the brass. (he complains a lot so i usually ignore the details)
  8. Did you know she was the voice of Maggie's (from the Simpsons) first, and only, word?
  9. with my 308 the best group i ever shot were with some 165 gr. sierra gamekings that were give to me. Not sure what they cost but i was using imr 4064
  10. I've always read that tumbling after loaded is a no no from a quality control and safety stand point. (changing the size and shape of the powder)
  11. dust it off and go. I tumble it but rarely polish pistol brass. Life's too short. For me it also depends on where I'm picking it up from, dusty ranges can leave you with a lot of foreign mat. in your range bag.
  12. Bought some 33 round mags that were described as ambi. but when they arrived it was obvious we were on different pages. my gen 4 g17 allows me to move the mag release to the other side of the gun but the notch on the mags needs to be on the other side as well. What would the latest generation of mags be called and where should I be looking for them?
  13. I'm with Joe sounds like someone was trying to tighten a loose hole.
  14. 9mm every day. I have a trubor that is not used in comp and I'm so glad it runs cheap ammo.
  15. my brother has a cheapo Bushnell on his AR that has settings for green and red, and the green just doesn't do it for me
  16. a heavy main spring will affect this as well
  17. Im sure you know that in IDPA they make me run with 1911's shooting an XD good price for an "M" though
  18. my friend just bought one for his wife's purse/car, and we shot 250 rounds of umc 115 grain through it this weekend. no failures but when his wife shot it the slide did not lock back twice. It ejected just didn't lock the slide back. I'm sure it was a grip issue. BTW liked it alot.
  19. that is what i paid for mine (425)FTF
  20. OK guys try to bear with me here. bought a gen 4 17 b/c I'm left handed and thought the mag release on the right side would be awesome. I also bought it to shoot my ti-rant 9. so I put about 150 rounds through it and had a couple of short strokes. at first i thought, ehh new pistol should be expected. Then i got my lone wolf threaded barrel and had some more short stroke issues. so i thought I'd look into it and low and behold glock is issuing new springs. Called glock and they sent me a spring marked 02. Although less often, I'm Still having short stroke issues. Called Glock and they said that they would look at it but I'd have to send it in. Really getting frustrated here. I only have about 800 rounds through this gun but i bet I have had 5 failures, and my wife has had 5 too. This gun only gets used in idpa and at the ranch (suppressed) so is it worth messing with or should i just shut up and shoot it. my glock 22 has gone 3k with out a single hicup what to do?

    New Glock 17

sorry to ask this here but gen 4 glock 17 is short stroking at least once per IDPA. Have the 02 spring but still having problems. Any similar experience here?
