  1. Tell me if this sounds familiar. I don't ask much about the box of shoes I see on the counter, and when she sees a box from midway she doesn't say much. Btw I love my wife.
  2. Obviously guys who's wives participate with them get it. What about the rest of you guys. My wife understands that it's my passion but I have an open gun that costs as much as her weeding ring. So do they what do they know? Is it a don't ask don't tell situation?
  3. Thanks. I'll prolly end up doing this when it bass pissed me off a little more.
  4. New to this concept. I'm guessing the idea behind the pin is that you can remove it later and have a functioning grip safety? Do people just not cut off the trigger engagement tab of the grip safety sometimes?
  5. Toss it. Not a safety issue just not worth your time if it's only a couple. Your looking at like 5 cents. 3 of which your not getting back anyways.
  6. my suppressor's tube is made out titanium to keep the weight down. Seeing as how that "part" of the suppressor is the part with the serial #, and by law the oly part that can't be repaired or replaced, it must be pretty robust to erosion.
  7. well thats something to think about. i had read that the reason these were having problems in the first place is bc the same dual spring were being used in the 22 and 17. The result/problems were an "oversprung" 17. From what im reading above is that you are going to use the same spring for your 22/17.
  8. if, i mean when, you get it out again look through the "hole" and jiggle the gun till you see the link fall to the right area to ensure that you are indeed in the link.
  9. the reason the hammer wont drop is because the disconector is being depressed by the grove in the bottom of the slide that is out of battery. or... well... its designed so the gun wont fire before the slide is all the way forward. some times the cam that the slide stop sits in can bind if the guide rod (full length on that gun) is not seated in the right spot. pics?
  10. saw one on gun-broker that had 10 bids and was over $3K. they said this one was used and was colts first run (four digit serial #)
  11. the same spring thats in the 22 or one lie it made for the 17?
  12. ha yep a little goes a long way. i never thought to have other "projects" ready.
  13. sorry i thought the post said i'm in edna. sorry
  14. I actually still. Shoot left handed idpa. I was mainly referring to the rifle as asked by the original question. When I was typing it out I remember thinking I wasn't being 100% clear
  15. An understanding wife that doesn't mind sounding weird telling her friends the he's " in the basement making bullets" All joking aside I love sitting at the press. Some people don't. Some find the technical nature of making that machine work relaxing, Some don't.
  16. I guy I shoot with in new braunfels said him and two other guys were building a neat sounding range in Victoria. I think that's really close to Edna.
  17. Pet stores carry a "finer" media that I would look for. Got a batch one time that was the exact size as the primer pocket and spent a whole night poping them out. Now I just tumble before I resize. I almost bought the cabellas one but figured that for twenty bones more I could get the hornady and did and love it. There are alot of cheap, I mean innovative guys on the net who have made some very cheaply with an unbalanced out put shaft on an old vacuum motor and some springs and a bowl. ...
  18. +1 on thin. I also usually use less Catalyst than they recommend to keep it tacky but I never actually measure it anyways
  19. I bought this crap to shoot dirty cheap ammo. From what I understand the gen 3 will.
  20. Ahgggg. That's exactly why it's still in the safe. Yeah when he told me just send it in there was a tone in voice like he knew he just ended the conversation. I guess I'll just keep shooting it till it straitens out. How many rounds do you have through yours? I'm just afraid I'll send it in for 3 months then they'll call me and say "well we shot 100 rounds through it and couldn't get a malfunction out of it and where sending it back to you. "
  21. If you can shoot switch I would try. With out knowing what exactly is going on I'll offer this advice. My right hand/arm is paralyzed and I pretty much shot rifles left handed from the bench. Starting idpa and rifle I started shooting right handed. I can squeez a trigger with the right hand but can't support the gun with it. I wish I had switched 10 years ago. Maybe using your strong arm to support the gun and "other" hand to pull a light trigger will help out.
  22. ha just saw that he probably has a few clots too. he just didn't show em to me
  23. My neighbor, WWII vet, saw me working on a 1911 in my garage and asked me to come look at his. It was a colt 1911, in 38 super, that has never been fired in a small cardboard box. He said he thinks he bought it in a supermarket or hardware store in the late 40's early 50's. I was in awe of that pistol. does anyone have any idea what an early 50's pistol like that is worth NIB? I literally havent been able to stop thinking of ths pistol.
  24. I've done the marine-Tex on two sniper rifles and the best method (for grip) is to spread the marine-tex on then get a zip lock bag and fill it with 1/2 air. press the bag into the drying marine-Tex. when you pull the bag away it leaves hundreds of little "fingers/ripples." do this all over until you have the grip you want. when it's dry if its to much, hit that area with some sand paper a little at a time untill you have the grip you want. i think the stuff is great.
