  1. Thanks for posting your live fire observations! You found exactly what I expected. The transition from freestyle to weakhand shooting doesn't benefit your shooting. Weak hand only it is! Guess I needed that confirmation Thanks again.
  2. I love my huge CED Professional. I used a small Dillon bag before this one, and the CED is so much more comfortable (better zippers and strap) and bigger (yes, it IS better to have a rangebag with ALL your stuff in it, instead of just a selection of the most usefull stuff.
  3. Well, it's true you don't save as much on reloading 9x19 as you would by reloading other calibers. Your numbers for the ammo costs are accurate I think, but a reloading setup (Dillon Square Deal would cost way less than $1000. Especially if you can get your hands on a good used press. But, you're right. What good would a reloading press do financially if you can buy new ammo for just about the same price?
  4. These are IPSC rules (don't know about USPSA). You're good to go with the bobbed hammer, but the smoothed trigger seems to be a no go. No problem though. I'd get a factory smooth trigger (there are a bazillion trigger/model combo's out there. You'll be safe) or rip one off of an old blued smith K, L or N frame. I changed my factory smooth 625 trigger for a wide serrated one and asked S&W if they ever produced 625 with wide triggers. Just mail them and they'll tell you it's no problem.
  5. Hi Tangram. I think it doesn't matter if you buy 9mm ammo or a .22. You will learn things either way. If you want to get better with the Kimber, I'd buy more whitebox. You'll learn to get better with a particular gun by spending time with it (at home dryfiring it, and at the range). A different gun will index different, will have another trigger to get used to etc. If you want to become a really good shooter with the Kimber, I'd even lean towards not buying white box or a .22 and investing the money in a nice reloading press.
  6. Wow, I'm in love! That is one sweet little puppy.
  7. I practiced this stuff in dryfire for two days now. Seems like the weak hand only way is a litte more forgiving in the time department. But...you're shooting the whole thing weak handed, so you'd better get good hits! The freestyle to weakhand way will guarantee good first two shots, but I found myself snapping the trigger on the last two shots more. All arguments presented by you make sense, but I still haven't figured out which way to go.
  8. Wow that IS rude! I don't think the people will forget something like that.
  9. In an oncoming match we will shoot a three string standard. One of the strings is: At beep, engage T1 (10 y) with 2 rounds freestyle. Next, engage T1 with 2 rounds weak hand. Fixed time 4.5 seconds. Would you shoot the first two shots freestyle, or buy yourself some extra time by transferring the gun to the weakhand during the draw and shoot the whole string weak hand?
  10. I just saw Requiem for a Dream. Sometimes you can feel a movie change your life as you watch it. Definately a depressing flick.
  11. Another vote for CR. Just order the stuff through their sight directly. It'll save you a ton. FWIW, Eric G., Max M., Jerry M. all use a CR. It's fast and safe! Just be sure to get one of their belts too. It's amazing!

    Router trouble

Thanks a mille guys 'n gal. Well, I'm still testing, but it seems the problem was fixed by installing the newest driver for my NIC card. I find it strange that it worked for so long and crapped out on me after a while.

I'll check that. That never occurred to me, because it worked great before I moved my computer to another room OMG, that could be it!
  16. Hi everyone! I don't know jack about this stuff and I'm lost here. I have a cablemodem and a 4 port router and 2 PC's. One of the PC's (PC1) runs fine. I always have a connection to internet and LAN. My other PC (PC2) has a problem. It disconnects from the internet sometimes. Every 10 to 15 minutes or so. The strange thing is the little LEDs from my router don't light up when I connect the cable from PC2 to the router. I thought it was a defective routerport, but the LEDs from every port light up when I connect PC1. What could this be? It's driving me nuts! HELP!!!!!!
  17. I'll check the American Book Centre in Amsterdam today to see if they have it. They probably do. But thanks for the offer Chuck!

    Impoliteness

Spin off from another thread... Recently I discovered that I hate impolite people. Probably because I always try to be polite. We've discussed this before in different threads (the one where Bush and Republicans got toasted). I can't help but think that some people on these boards have very thin skin when it comes to "jokes" about their beliefs, but seize any chance to join in on bashing others beliefs. To me, this is very annoying. Especially when I look at all the stuff I don't do/post to "spare" them. It has nothing to do with freedom of speech. It's all about courtesy. If I say something that is offending to someone here, I apologize. I won't defend it for the sake of freedom of speech. Another thing I hate about this is the significance people will give to the political discussions here. This is a shooting forum. We can learn stuff from eachother. How very cool! So why are you defending you political views with everything you have to persuade some guy you: 1) have never seen 2) Probably will never see in your entire life 2) will not convince 3) says he is not interested in you views Even if you "win", do you actually think that it will change the world you live in one bit? I have never seen positive differences made by political discussion. But meeting a polite person can brighten my entire day.
