  1. LOL, that is some pretty cool info Sky!
  2. Thanks a lot guys. Tightloop, I think that's my problem. I keep comparing myself to guys who shoot autoloaders. There are zero other revolvershooters at my club, so there's nobody else to compete with. I know I should shoot my own matches and ignore the performance of others. But knowing I can compete with a lot of the auto guys in practice actually raises my comfort level on matches and helps me to shoot my own match by knowing that I'm fast enough. So all I need to do is get good hits. Of course, this whole mental strategy would probably fall apart if I were to shoot a match with Jerry Miculek in it Sensei, yes, I do the weak hand reload (keeping the gun in strong hand). I think it's a good thing to first work on your new reload a lot in practice to get it down. The two basic revolver reloads are pretty different, especially to subconsciously do them requires a lot of repetitions and mental work. I am thinking about incorporating the other way (Miculek style) into my system. I have been working on a new reload for "weak hand-reload-weak hand" situations
  3. Damn that was fast. You're right up there with the top dogs Steve. I'd better get that book too
  4. Ah hell, I might as well make it an even 1000 here. Adds a little something to it Plus I am now officially "Beyond it all"
  5. Very cool to read this thread again after some time. Thanks for kicking it back up One year ago I posted: I did a 6.01 El Prez last week with terrible hits, and a 6.38 with good hits. My fastest reload went from 1.91 to 1.58 (1.9's are "easy" now) and fastest split from .25 to.20. Fastest draw went from .94 to .83. It's fun to dig up old threads and see the progress you've made in only one year. BTW, welcome to the boards Whizz. Nice to see a fellow revolvers shooter from Europe here.
  6. Wow, I still feel like a n00b even though I was the first member on the boards. And I still have "only" 999 posts. That's approx. 1 each day since the beginning This board is the greatest. Without it, I don't even know if I would still be shooting. Thanks a lot Brian!
  7. Chuck, thanks man. A big part of the desire to leave comes from the kind of hospitality you display that I see in many US citizens. And, Italian food...well, let's just say I don't just miss my Italian ex-gf for her looks
  8. 7b7 welcome, Another starving student here. I can only second what Flex said completely. A 9mm is much cheaper to feed. And it will also do very good in Production division. You'll then have a gun that's both cheap and competitive.
  9. Pangris, seeing you would go for 5.1 lbs. means you shoot IPSC? If so, recrowning will make the LDA IPSC PD illegal IPSC PD (not USPSA) means: -Factory gun from the approved list -Can only change sights a little (which you will probably not do with he LDA's great sights, so I will not elaborate) -Minor polishing and detailing of the internals (for that 5.1 lbs. trigger) -The rest is prohibited
  10. I'm from The Netherlands. It's a small part of Germany (Let's see what the other Dutchies have to say 'bout that last statement). I've been thinking about moving out there to the US a lot, up to when I was about 13. And I have been thinking about it a lot again lately. So maybe, a couple of years from now I'll have to change my profile...
  11. Garfield, that is not necissarily true. If Jim would get you a sweet trigger by polishing and detailing the internal parts, it would still be OK for IPSC PD. Pangris, I know two guys that shoot one. One of them is a really good shooter and he is very happy with it.
  12. I don't get these people. OTOH, the provide fuel for the fire that makes you want to become GM (that's how I see them). Proving these idiots wrong is part of the fun
  13. LOL, sounds like a great job. Or I could just promise to get a decent job once I get there
  14. Very cool man! Did he mention how he gained the skills to do those super splits? Damn, now I wish I lived over there even more. I guess having him flown over to Europe would be a little too expensive for me
  15. Why does that sound GREAT!!!??? Thanks guys. Once I have my masters degree, I'll seriously check the possibilities. Of course, you must understand you WILL get another LAWYER over there
  16. If guns get banned in The Netherlands, I'm moving to friggin' Arizona!
  17. Good point. And as I posted before, I was not referring to your reply to Erik's post. One thing I absolutely love about these forums is that people often politely disagree with eachother. This is an odd phenomenon on the net, and I would hate to see it deteriorate. Thanks for being polite
  18. I think that the people who post jokes like the link Dave posted (and many more examples can be given) seems to feel an uncontrollable desire to express their negative opinion of Democrats/Clinton/Gore, etc. Opinions exist. I just find it very uncool that as long as you support opinion X and make fun of opinion Y on these boards, you're OK. But as soon as you make fun of opinion X you get flamed. I stand corrected. But taking away Erik's moderator rights as a suggestion, just because he makes fun of George W? I agree with people when they say: "no politics here". But to me that also means: not making fun of Europeans (there are quite a few on the boards here), not making fun of democrats(same reason). Not making fun of Hillary, etc. In one sentence: it's not cool if rules only apply to you when you don't break them the right way. I too wish this whole thing never happened.
  19. Sam, you won't hear me complaining about that
  20. Sam, thanks for the reply. A little flaming is OK I'd say (I wasn't referring to your reply BTW, which I found rather funny actually). I am afraid I cannot respond to the rest of your post without getting political so I will not. All I meant to say is that I think the reactions to a (IMO) harmless joke seem very agressive (and again, I exclude your and Duane's reply). That is something that surprizes me.
  21. Wow, it's probably because I'm not interested in politics at all, but why all the incredibly harsh replies to Erik's post? By all means say what you will, but delete a post just because it goes against your political views? This is something I never expected form the free-minded folks around here.
  22. Hmm....this sounds a lot like my country. Except pot is practically legal over here in the Netherlands and the weather sucks
  23. 0.07 0.00 0.00 My basic philosophy is: I don't give a f%^k unless you harm someone.
