  1. Hooah! way to go Shred! Lucky, huh? Wasn't it Todd Jarrett who said: "the harder I work, the luckier I get"
  2. Control is what I'm looking for when practicing reloads. Reloading is like reading. If you go too fast you'll start skipping words and you have to go back Experience everything you need to in the reload. See the magwell, feel the way the mag is positioned in your hand etc. Analyze the reload, and focus on the things you do right. Also, see where you screw up and find out how you can become consistent in those areas. As for cursing yourself: I have never found that useful, because you are not helping yourself. You're teaching yourself that you can't do a good reload. Instead, try being positive after a good reload Focus on the good things, find solutions for the bad things

    A SIG Pro ?

A LEO friend of mine is testing one (9mm) out at the moment and I shot it a couple of times. Nice gun. Accurate and handles well though I pinched the skin of my pinky finger when inserting a new mag (it has a short grip and the grip extention on the mag). It does flip quite a bit (because of the high bore axis, I think). I'd never but one myself, but I wouldn't mind having one
  4. Hi Clay1! The short answer to youy Q is: Glock tells something that isn't true. Their triggers are always much heavier than the standard 3.5 and 5 lbs. My glock17 with polished insides and 3.5lbs. connector breaks at 5+ lbs. too. It will get lighter, but it will never be 3.5lbs without a lightened striker spring and other modifications. Dry fire it a bit and see how that works out. If it doesn't get any lighter, I'd just consider a trigger job. If you do a search, you'll find lots of info about different trigger jobs.
  5. Merry Christmas to you too!
  6. Why not this strategy? Standing in box A Engage T1-T3 with 2 shots. Reload, engage T4 with 2 shots. Reload engage T5 with 2 shots, popper, T7 with 2 shots, popper. Reload engage T6 with 2 shots.
  7. Why do you guys think it EITHER a strong grip OR consistent sight tracking? Why not enjoy both? I'm with Jake on that one. Your body will make the neccessary modifications by itself.
  8. Nice going! Keep it up!
  9. Bubber, I used to load 1.245" (below OAL in the books). N320 and a copper plated RN from Frontier (230 grains). Now I load longer (wasn't comfy with loading shorter than the book)and the unburnt powder is back. I'm switching back to 1.245".
  10. Bummer bubber. When I reduced the OAL a little with .45 and N320 the unburnt powder problem went away.
  11. infinity, my grip is radically different I have shoot revolver and have a big weird custom grip to start with. But I noticed that in periods when I worked out a lot with free weights , I would keep the gun much flatter. It just came naturally. Big strong forearms help. Try it. Just work them out every other day for 10 minutes. See if there's a difference.
  12. I think what Brian meant by that is that "attempt to decrease muzzle rise" should not be accomplished by compromising consistent sight tracking. But if you could be consistent and decrease muzzle rise, it would definately be more comfortable to shoot that way. I think it's the same discussion as major vs. minor in speed shooting. Some claim there's no difference, because they can shoot most drills just as fast with major ammo as with minor ammo. But shooting minor is more comfortable.
  13. I think a tight grip helps. But you shouldn't be tense while gripping. Strong grip, no tension.
  14. That sure is a lotta posts. And these aren't even the only Forumboards he posts on
  15. I think shooting flat means reducing the upward travel of the muzzle to a minimum? I'd say: get some popeye forearms (to increase force and decrease tension) and experiment with your hand positions etc. You want to be more like your avatar? Man, that guy shoots really flat
  16. About chamfering: I found ou that, the larger the chamfered area, the greater chances are that the rounds in your moonclip will "skip a hole" (meaning round 1 goes in hole 1 and round 2 goes in hole 3). This is a very sucky thing to have. Just break the edges enough to let the casemouth go in perfectly.

    5 little pigs

A farmer buys several pigs, hoping to breed them for ham, bacon, etc.... After several weeks, he notices that none of the pigs are getting pregnant and calls a vet for help. The vet tells the farmer that he should try artificial insemination. The farmer doesn't have the slightest idea what this means but, not wanting to display his ignorance, he only asks the vet how he will know when the pigs are pregnant. The vet tells him that they will stop standing around and will instead, lay down & wallow in the mud when they are pregnant. The farmer hangs up & gives this some thought. He comes to the conclusion that artificial insemination means that he has to impregnate the pigs. So, he loads the pigs into his truck, drives them out into the woods, has sex with them all, brings them back & goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes & looks out at the pigs. Seeing that they are all still standing around, he concludes that the first try didn't take, and loads them in the truck again. He drives them out to the woods, bangs each pig twice for good measure, brings them back and goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes to find the pigs still just standing around. One more try, he tells himself, and proceeds to load them up & drives them out to the woods. He spends all day shagging the pigs and, upon returning home, falls listlessly into bed. The next morning, he cannot even raise himself from the bed to look at the pigs. He asks his wife to look out and tell him if the pigs are laying in the mud. 'No,' she says, 'they're all in the truck and one of them is honking the horn.'
  18. I was kind of hoping YOU would do it Sounds like a cool plan though. Maybe S&W will do it?

    Heavy 9's

Or.....you could take all that time and use it to practice with a G17 and some cheap ass 125 grain ammo
  20. I think Ray is asking because of the 9 round array rule. You could play with the autoloaders if you had a 9-shooter.
  21. Sure, it could be done, but I doubt it will be of 9mm caliber or greater. Maybe the new X-frame?
  22. I think the question should be "who can we make happy". But then again, it's true that some people will complain no matter what the outcome is. I am curious what the logic behind the 9-round rule is. It doens't seem "friendly" to any specific platform...
